Voting figures in 2018 Bangladeshi general election

Hello, peace be upon you. It is very very impressive that you summed up the total of voting figures party-wise based on the center-wise chart. It was very hard task (I believe). Although I think you probably missed a thing that- NDM and Bangladesh Congress weren't registered political parties at the time of the election, and the 'Lion' and 'Coconut' were allocated for independents. These two got registered in 2019. You probably somehow missed that. It would be very great if you confirmed this. Then I will try to fix the voting figures, also of the JOF candidates. Hello Zeeshan Y Tariq. Many thanks. And you are right, at the Election Commission website (http://www.ecs.gov.bd/page/parliament-election-result) results are just given by election symbol. In the case where I presented a party result from different election symbols, like separating candidates on AL symbol but belonging to other parties I added a footnote. So if NDM and BC weren't linked to any particular symbol in 2018, there is probably an error in the result I presented. --Soman (talk) 12:11, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

WikiCup 2023 November newsletter

The WikiCup is a marathon rather than a sprint and all those reaching the final round have been involved in the competition for the last ten months, improving Wikipedia vastly during the process. After all this hard work, Delaware BeanieFan11 has emerged as the 2023 winner and the WikiCup Champion. The finalists this year were:-

Help on Andrius Bolota article

Hi, I am working on the biography of Andrius Boluta who was a member of the Russian State Duma in 1907–1912. He got involved with the 1917 revolution but I can't untangle what soviets/committees he belonged to. Can you help? Here is what my main source (a massive run-on sentence in Lithuanian from 1937) says:

Prasidėjus Rusijos revoliucijai, grįžo 1917 m. V. per San Franciško, Didįjį vandenyną ir Vladivostoką Petrapilin ir tuojau buvo okupuotas į visos Rusijos darbininkų ir kareivių atstovų tarybos centrinį komitetą, buvo išrinktas to komiteto valdybos nariu, paskirtas juridinio skyriaus vedėju, vėliau pirmininkavo ekstraordinarinei komisijai liepos mėnesio bolševikų sukilimo kaltininkams išaiškinti, dalyvavo valstybiniame visos Rusijos pasitarime Maskvoje, buvo provizorinio Rusijos parlamento narys, minėto centrinio komiteto, o vėliau Rusijos steigiamojo susirinkimo komisijos Rusijos federaliniam sutvarkymui išspręsti ir nacionalinėje komisijoje, kurios buvo pirmininku, turėdamas Staliną tos komisijos sekretoriumi. Šioje komisijoje drauge su kitais Rusijos pavergtų tautų atstovais ir pažangiaisiais rusais pravedė principą, pripažįstantį visoms Rusijos tautoms visiško apsisprendimo teisę, ligi išsiskyrimo iš Rusijos; 1917 m. buvo išrinktas nuo Vitebsko gub. atstovu į steigiamąjį susirinkimą, kuriame buvo vienintelis lietuvis.

Translation (I numbered the soviets/committees for referencing purposes):

He returned to Petrograd in May 1917 after the beginning of the Russian Revolution via San Francisco, the Pacific Ocean, and Vladivostok, and was immediately coopted to the [1] Central Committee of the All-Russian Council of Workers' and Soldiers' Representatives, was elected a member of the board of that committee, appointed head of the legal department, later chaired an extraordinary commission to clarify the perpetrators of the July Bolshevik uprising. He participated at the [2] All-Russian State Conference in Moscow, was a member of the [3] Provisional Russian Parliament, a member of a commission of the aforementioned [1?] Central Committee, and later of the [4] Constituent Assembly of Russia, to resolve the federal organization of Russia, and the [5] National Commission, of which Bulota was the chairman, with Stalin as the secretary of that commission. In this commission, together with some representatives of the peoples enslaved by Russia and advanced Russians, they introduced the principle that recognizes the right of complete self-determination for all the peoples of Russia, until separation from Russia; in 1917 was elected from Vitebsk Governorate as a representative at the [6] founding meeting, where there was the only Lithuanian.

I am sure that [6] is the Russian Constituent Assembly. The rest, I am horribly confused. Russian sources (example) mention All-Russian Central Executive Committee. Would you be able to figure this puzzle out? Any help is much appreciated. Renata•3 05:20, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

Hi Renata3! It is clearly confusing that hrono essentially presents 4 distinct biographies with different info on the one page. He was elected to the All-Russian Constituent Assembly from the Vitebsk electoral district (Russian Constituent Assembly election, 1917) on the SR list. I placed the following snippet on him "Petrograd, former member of the 2nd and 3rd State Dumas, member of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of the Soviets of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies", with https://books.google.at/books?id=bUsoAQAAMAAJ p. 17 as source. So he would have been a member of both the RCA and the All Russian CEC. --Soman (talk) 23:28, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi, so I guess you are saying that [1] should be All-Russian Central Executive Committee. Any idea what [2] and [3] might be referring to? Moscow State Conference and Provisional Council of the Russian Republic? Any idea what [5] is? It's interesting due to the reference to Stalin -- you'd think it be easy to find given Stalin's prominence, but the commission is so obscure that I am coming up with nothing. Thanks! Hello Renata3! [3] is definitely the Provisional Council of the Russian Republic. [2] should be the Moscow State Conference. Regarding [5] ru.wiki seems to give the answer "Стал руководителем юридического отдела ВЦИК, был председателем комиссии по расследованию организованного большевиками Июльского восстания и комиссии по делам национальностей (секретарём которой был малоизвестный в то время Сталин)." So it would have been the Commission on Nationalities of the All-Russian CEC/[1]. --Soman (talk) 22:13, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Hi Prezbo. Many thanks for reaching out. So 18 years have passed and my memory fails me. During my initial period at Wikipedia I generally didn't bother much with references, and used it more as a public notebook of sorts (a fact that now makes retracing steps difficult). I did some articles on Catalan groups which I recall was taken from some Catalan nationalist online encyclopedia (which would be unlikely to qualify as WP:RS today anyhows), that was probably my initial source for this article. Notably I had come across the image somewhere to upload here, so that might be a lead. --Soman (talk) 15:32, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
