Algeria - Decolonization of Africa

Tha Algerian independence cannot be considered as a part of the decolonization of Africa, but rather as a secession of France, as Algeria was oficially a part of France and not a colony; therefore a decolonization is impossible. I've previously discussed this matter in the Talk and only after a while I've changed it. If you think, I'm wrong you shouldn't just undo my revision but first counter in the Talk. I'm changing the article back. SFBB (talk) 09:03, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015 launch newsletter

Round one of the 2015 WikiCup has begun! So far we've had around 80 signups, which close on February 5. If you have not already signed up and want to do so, then you can add your name here. There have been changes to to several of the points scores for various categories, and the addition of Peer Reviews for the first time. These will work in the same manner as Good Article Reviews, and all of the changes are summarised here.

Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round, and one of the new changes this year is that all scores must be claimed within two weeks of an article's promotion or appearance, so don't forget to add them to your submissions pages! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! Religion field

Thanks for the edit. Religion field in Infobox political party does not make much sense expect some very rare cases of parties strongly connected to a religion. -- Magioladitis (talk) 19:02, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Hamas Rally Picture for Publication Use

Dear Mr. Samon,

Greetings from The Middle East Institute in Washington, DC! My name is Jacob Passel, and I am the Managing Editor of The Middle East Journal. We are a non-profit academic journal based in Washington and dedicated to the study of the modern Middle East.

While looking for a picture for the cover of our upcoming issue of the Journal, we found your picture of a Hamas rally in Bethlehem that fits our issue perfectly and looks great on the cover (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bethlehem-hamasrally.JPG). In addition to the cover of the print journal, the picture will also be featured on the Journal's portion of the Middle East Institute website.

As per our format and the Creative Commons license, we are going to credit the photo to you with the following caption:

"Cover photo: Hamas rally, Bethlehem, 2006 Source: Wikipedia user Soman, via Wikimedia Commons."

I hate to be a bother about this, but we are about to go to press, and your input would be very appreciated. Please let me know as soon as possible by email (jpassel@mei.edu) if you have any corrections to the caption and attribution and I will make changes accordingly.

Once the issue goes to press, I will be happy to mail you a copy of the issue, if you would like. Please let me know if this would be acceptable to you or if you would like to see the cover in advance. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns by email at jpassel@mei.edu or phone at +1-202-785-1141 ext 205.

Many thanks,

Jacob Passel — Preceding unsigned comment added by MiddleEastJournal (talkcontribs) 16:49, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Many thanks. No problema at all to use the photo, and the caption is good. --Soman (talk) 19:42, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
