Petar Gošev

Correct me if Im wrong but seems to me that you added Petar Gošev as a predecesor of Kiro Gligorov, as a president of the SR Macedonia. Im not sure if that info is correct. There's a list of politicians in the SRM article but I cant be sure about its reliability too. Hmm what to do? As my memory serves me, Petar Gošev was the leader of the League of Communists of Macedonia which was a ruling party, but he was not exactly a president of the country (there was a collective presidency as far as I know but he was not a president of that). I will try to find something on this and if i do find i will change it. If you have any idea let me know --Dzole 01:58, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

What is a military post?

Hi, I see you have a love for labelling posts as military. Could you please explain to me how is "President of Serbian Presidency" military post? You marked it as such on Nikola Ljubičić article. Secondly, how is "Federal Prime Minister of Yugoslavia" and "President of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia" a military post (on Tito article)? And, then, of course, how is "Federal secretary of people's defence" a military post? All of those are civilian posts that were held by military people That doesn't make it military post. If my father is general, that doesn't mean all fathers are generals. I will now change this posts to civilian posts, and I ask you to answer me here before reverting. • My mistake not federal prime minister but federal secretary of people's defence. Usualy every politician in Tito's Yugoslavia held some rank in (JNA) but in reserve in case of war, those are all politican how had been in World War II. Federal secretary of people's defence or today defence minister was in Tito's Yugoslavia a military post because only military personel can become that. First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Please be careful when "rewriting" material that there was not good reason for its removal. In your rewrite, there is even the remnant of the copyright tag that was removed out of process: [1]. The edit summaries make clear that this material was removed to comply with copyright policy, as does the note at the talk page. New Years Message for WikiProject United States

With the first of what I hope will be monthly newsletters I again want to welcome you to the project and hope that as we all work together through the year we can expand the project, create missing articles and generally improve the pedia thought mutual cooperation and support. Now that we have a project and a solid pool of willing members I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and solicite help in doing a few things that I believe is a good next step in solidifiing the project. I have outlined a few suggestions where you can help with on the projects talk page. This includes but is not limited too updating Portal:United States, assessing the remaining US related articles that haven't been assessed, eliminating the Unrefernced BLP's and others. If you have other suggestions or are interested in doing other things feel free. I just wanted to offer a few suggestions were additional help is needed. JTO-logo.svg

I drew the JTO logo in Inkscape but am really uncertain about the colors. Please change or advise me so I can change so that they are correct. The shield's outer rim is a dark grey in the svg, should it be black instead? The hues of the red and blue are taken from my imagination (with a little help from the washed out jpg image - looks like a scan of a textile patch

).

I'm glad that you liked the JTO logo but don't quite understand what part you want olive gray! The JTO logo has black on the outside then white then red- a different and in my view less appealing red than the Logo_of_the_JNA by Apiya then blue and some artwork in "gold" (yellow) then the star in the same red as part of the shield border.

I'm afraid that the eagles in the other logos you posted are a bit too time consuming for me at this point, sorry The resolution is too poor to make a reasonable trace too so it would take me a week to draw the eagle!

I don't understand why you don't want to add your information to the article Democratic Party (Yugoslavia). You know that Wikipedia is based on WP:Verifiability and WP:Neutral point of view. It is not acceptable to take up the position of the Democratic Party (which is not neutral!) instead of the position of independent scholars. Therefore Wikipedia has two separate articles about the two parties: Democratic Party (Yugoslavia) for the pre-war party and Democratic Party (Serbia) for the post-1989 party. I ask you to please keep this separation, because the identity and continuity of both parties is not verifiable with reliable sources. The Democratic Party claims to be identical and to be the continuation of the old Democratic Party. But neutral, third-party academic sources do not confirm this. The website of the DS is not a neutral, third-party scholarly source. It is the opposite of neutral and third-party. Please also note that if one of your edits gets reverted, you are held to discuss the issue on the respective talk page instead of just re-reverting. The latter approach could be considered quite uncooperative and even close to WP:Edit warring. I would suggest you not to go that way. Thank you for your understanding and your cooperation. By the way, the source you have provided is quite contradictory. It says "Demokratska stranka, ključna članica vladajuće koalicije, napunila je 20 godina života" ("Democratic Party, a key member of the ruling coalition, has turned 20 years old") 20! So it was founded 1989, not 1919, according to the article you provided. The article only tells the history of DS since 1989, not the pre-war history, therefore it is not honest to cite it as an evidence for the pre-war history and for the identity and continuity of the new/old party. First of all, it is absolutely not okay to revert again and again and again if there is a dispute ongoing. There is a rule on Wikipedia called the Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle. It means that you may be bold the first time. But if one of your edits gets reverted you are held to discuss and you must not re-revert again and again and again. You have done that four times already. You make it really difficult to collaborate with you, because actually your approach is called WP:Edit warring. If you continue this way it could lead to a block for you. So please respect the rules and discuss your edits instead of being stubborn and inserting the same thing again and again. I really cannot understand why you don't want to edit the article Democratic Party (Yugoslavia). Wikipedia has made two articles. One for the historic party at Democratic Party (Yugoslavia), and one for the present-day existing party at Democratic Party (Serbia). This is for the reason, that after more than forty years, it is very difficult to prove that it is still the same party.

The Demokratska Stranka claims to be the legal successor. But here on Wikipedia, we don't write from the DS's point of view (POV). We write from a neutral POV. That means, you have to prove your claims with publications of independent scholars and not from the party's website. The newspaper article is okay, but it is not as good as a publication by a real scholar, a historian or a political scientist. I have provided a book by Janusz Bugajski as a source. He writes that:

"The party claimed its roots in the Democratic Party founded at the beginning of the twentieth century (...)"

Janusz Bugajski is a political science expert for the New European Democracies Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. I think he is more credible and reliable than a newsmagazine article, not to mention the party's website. And your newsmagazine article does not actually support your statements, because it only treats the history of the DS after 1989 and not before 1948. So you do not have a valid reliable source! Do you understand, that the history as described on the DS's website is not a neutral, third-party reliable source? Moreover, we already have an article on the Democratic Party (Yugoslavia). It would be redundant to treat the same story twice. So why don't you just edit this article? You want to write about the Democratic Party of Yugoslavia that has existed between 1919 and 1948, here is your article: Democratic Party (Yugoslavia).

Additionally, please do some research and try to find reliable sources. Statements that do not refer to reliable sources are not accepted on Wikipedia, even if they are true. (Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth!) If you are not sure whether or not to consider a source reliable, check Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources, ask other users, like me, ask on the article's talk page, or post the source at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard for assessment. This is a community. You are not alone. That means that you always can get help. But it also means that you cannot do everything single-handedly. This is not a one-man show. It's not that I don't trust you. It's not that I don't believe you. I believe that you are very-well informed and have a lot of knowledge on this subject. But again, the principle of Wikipedia is Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth. Maybe it is hard to understand or to accept. But even if you are very well-informed and you have a lot of knowledge and you are absolutely sure it's true, Wikipedia cannot accept it if you do not provide WP:Reliable sources to verify it. Your own knowledge (even if you are an expert, and I am willing to assume you are) is considered WP:Original research and is not accepted. The website of the Democratic Party is not considered a reliable source. The Serbian Wikipedia is not considered a reliable source. Please do some research, go to a library or university or search at Google Books or Google Scholar and find a history book or political science book, written by an independent scholar, published by a university, or research center or renowned publishing house to verify what you claim.

Yet another thing is: if you find that Democratic Party (Yugoslavia) and Democratic Party (Serbia) are one and the same party and should have one single Wikipedia article, you have to request the merger of both articles. Then, the community has to decide whether or not to merge both articles. If no one objects, you can merge both articles. But you cannot do it just like that and on your own. There are rules of cooperation here. And if you just do anything on your own, without discussing it with the others, you won't make friends. If I may give you some advise, I would recommend to do the research first and present at least one reliable source that confirms that both parties are actually the same. Without a source, I would not approve of the merger. I have already idicated you above, where you can find reliable sources. Without some research, this project will not be successful. P.S. The Political and Economic Dictionary of Eastern Europe, which I would consider a reliable source, does not mention the continuity with the pre-war Democratic Party either. So I would really recommend you to search and present at least one source that really confirms your position. Please compare Slovene People's Party (historical) and Slovenian People's Party - 2 articles; People's Party (Kingdom of Croatia) and Croatian People's Party – Liberal Democrats - 2 articles. National Peasants' Party and Christian-Democratic National Peasants' Party (Romania) - 2 articles; People's Party (Poland) and Polish People's Party - 2 articles; Party of Rights (1861–1929) and Croatian Party of Rights - 2 articles - see: there is always the same story with the East European parties, they always see themselves in historic continuity and legal successorship. Still Wikipedia treats them in two articles because they were active in two different historical eras. Could you accept this? --RJFF (talk) 12:39, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

But this mention of the roots in the historical party should be much shorter. I think the sentence "They claimed their roots in the Democratic Party which had existed in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and was banned by the communists after World War II." is enough. You are telling the whole history of the historical Democratic Party, which should be done at Democratic Party (Yugoslavia), and not at Democratic Party (Serbia). There should be clean cut between both articles and not too many redundancies.
