DYK for Daisy Bannard Cogley

Nice one - and neatly on St Brigid's Day! And it turns out her mother was a Furlong, a good Norman-descended south Wexford name, while Fred was on his mother's side a Boyle. An IP has suggested that her father was British, rather than what I had believed, French (Bannard with a silent "d"), which is an interesting line of thought. Anyway, a real step towards opening up a forgotten past - the lady seems to have been a rather key figure in hosting the alt scene of the times, even including some of the crustier figures. Did she ever receive some kind of memorial... I must check further. I am inspired to do some more article work (slowing reviews), already got into the Linda Doyle article.SeoR (talk) 08:27, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

@SeoR:I'm made up she's there today - it's fantastic! I'll pass on all these leads on her parents to Brian Trench, as it's all good stuff! I was bowled over by her, and how little seemed to be out there about her. A memorial would be amazing, I think there were noises about that in 70s/80s, and I'd love to see that happen. I'm involved in putting up STEM related plaques (so not relevant), but any one or group can apply to DCC to propose a plaque be erected to a suitable person, event or organisation. It costs about €2000, and I'd be up for helping in any way I can. Someone in the DCC seems to have been uploading good quality images of their plaques commons:Category:Dublin City Council Commemorative Plaques. I dip in and out of the DYK, I often forget about it until it's too late! Must make more of an effort there :) Smirkybec (talk) 14:27, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

It was great to see. On the additional data, what I hear I am posting to the Toto Talk page - and I've now asked for a check on the father in the UK. There were those noises about a memorial, especially in or on the theatre (no Toto, no Gate, really), but I cannot find that anything happened. I will have a look at the City Council site, and think if I could also contribute to motivating it. DYK is fun, but I am also occasional there. That said, the reason I was a bit quiet for a couple of days was that I was first improving Linda Doyle's article, and then realised that Eeva Leinonen at Maynooth had been missed, and I have now DYK'd Doyle. BTW, do you mind if I tag Toto B-C to WiR? I think she's a very relevant case. SeoR (talk) 08:58, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
