Welcome[edit]

Hi, welcome to wikipedia. Thanks for your improvements to Glasgow School of Art. Say, can I ask a favour - could you take a brief gander down the list of notable alumni - we occasionally get non-notable folks adding themselves; while I try to winnow them out, I'm not that up on the current Scottish art scene, so I've left some in that might be undeserving (and undoubtedly there are some deserving ones who aren't mentioned at all). Thansks, and welcome again. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 20:15, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability is rather a nebulous, and often controversial, subject. WP:BIO gives guidelines for general biographies. While there are specific guidelines musicians (at WP:MUSIC), there aren't for artists. It's a judgement call, and one that's probably unfair of to ask a new wikipedian to make. Decisions like this are, in practice, often decided in the bloody arena that is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. So if you could filter out any obvious vanity and self-promotion ones (students or recent grads trying to advertise themselves), that's all I can ask. Thanks. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 21:17, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedian in Residence at the National Library of Scotland[edit]

I'm just dropping you a quick note about a new Wikipedian in Residence job that's opened up at the National Library of Scotland. There're more details at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scotland#Wikimedian in Residence at the National Library of Scotland. Richard Symonds (WMUK) (talk) 14:55, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
