Simon Levy[edit]

Hi @Slevymuse, you recently made a few extensive edits to the Simon Levy page, including the deletion of a significant amount of content. It appears that your reason for doing so was that the content was uncited, though you also deleted some referenced content. You didn't leave a single edit summary for the four edits you published, which is problematic. While I was able to deduce your motive for most of the changes, some were rather opaque, and besides, this isn't a sufficient justification for not leaving an edit summary. In the future, please do your best to include edit summaries, especially when making large changes; this is helpful to both editors and readers. Thank you. I was just simplifying the site as it was out of date. And it's been a long time since I looked at it. 2600:1700:CB80:78F0:5816:7303:A799:3621 (talk) 01:45, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't change the fact that you should try to always leave edit summaries. You've been here as long as I have, you know better ;) Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 01:57, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, now you're engaged in an edit war with me on that page. What's the deal with you? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 01:58, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Something odd is happening here: You've deleted large amounts of content without providing a reason (also not left any edit summaries); you've sloppily added a bunch of bare urls, which is NOT proper referencing; you've added dead urls; you've edit warred; and you've sloppily commented on your own talk page. Although I haven't looked at your other work, it seems unlikely that someone who has been on Wikipedia since 2007 (as long as I have!) would be this careless and unheeding of WP policy. Has this account been hacked, by chance? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 02:20, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, this is me. Simon Levy. I haven't edited the site in YEARS! So I was just trying to clean it up. Sorry if I didn't follow correct protocols. Happy to do what you suggest so I can bring it up to date and delete some of the older stuff, as I've directed and produced numerous shows since the last edit years ago. Just want it to be simple as people can go to my personal website or the theatre's. What do you suggest?

Ok, so first things first: If you are Simon Levy, the subject of the page we are discussing, then you have a conflict of interest that you need to declare openly, and you will be discouraged from doing further edits to your own page. If you have resources to support the edits you believe should be made to the page, please submit them at the article talk page so that I, or another editor, can review them and update the article accordingly. Thank you. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 02:40, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'll do that tomorrow. I'm confused, however, why it's a "conflict of interest." Don't most people create their own Wikipedia page? And don't most people edit their page to keep it current?
As to "resources." Do my website, the website of the Fountain Theatre, and the website for TheGreatGatsbyPlay qualify?
Anyway, I'll do some research on Wikipedia's rules and make the edit suggestions I would like posted.
Thanks. Simon Levy 03:14, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
No, most people do not create or edit their own page. This is a clear conflict of interest; it is other editors who create, edit, and maintain pages.
Unfortunately, the sites you mention as resources are called primary references, and as such, they have lower value and credibility than secondary ones, such as magazine publications. This is what would be required in order to change the content of your article. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:23, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Slevymuse, I don't mean to make you do extra work, but please add these links to the Simon Levy talk page, where other editors apart from myself can review them before adding to the article. Thank you. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 15:49, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
