Copyright Violation on John Christy[edit]

Hi Showman,

you introduced a biographical sketch from this page at the University of Alabama into the article on John Christy. The original page is under copyright, copying it to Wikipedia without an explicit release under the GFDL is copyright infringement and illegal. Please be more careful with your contributions in the future. Thanks!

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

An editor only provides a reason of waste time. I spent hours researching the basis for the edits I made all for good reason and they were very minor edits at that. The editor who blocked me has POV that he is trying to maintain and blocks anyone who disagrees with that point of view.

Decline reason:

I'm declining this purely on pragmatic grounds, as the block will expire on its own in about half an hour. Absent a comment from the blocking admin, I would not be comfortable unblocking. Mangojuicetalk 20:47, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I'll contact the blocking admin. Having briefly reviewed your edits, I think an unblock should be possible. PhilKnight (talk) 14:53, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring[edit]

Hello Showman60, I noticed that 100% of your article edits today involve some form of edit warring. As the edit warring policy states: "Deliberate engagement in edit warring instead of discussion is a breach of Wikiquette and may cause user blocks from editing." Please discontinue edit warring and try engaging in discussions with other editors before making controversial edits. Thank you. Kaldari (talk) 21:23, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
