A tag has been placed on File:Tbl.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Good work![edit]

I appreciate all the good work you do here on Wikipedia! Thanks for working on the Hugh Kirkaldy photo (with the recommendation to move to Commons) and your attention to details with regard to other photos I've recently uploaded. Don't retire just yet! You're an important part of the fabric that makes Wikipedia work so well. Ignore the politics that sometimes can creep in and make things difficult. --EditorExtraordinaire (talk) 01:21, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I just wanted to let you know that I responded to your potential copyright concern on the discussion page. I wasn't sure if you would see my comment there automatically. Also, I see that you are one of the 400 most active Wikipedians of all time. As a new-ish user of and contributor to Wikipedia, I certainly hope that you don't retire. Wikipedia needs people like you, even if sometimes your enforcement of rules means that photos like mine don't get posted. Msact (talk) 23:10, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Question about OTRS[edit]

In regards to the Kay Schanllenkamp file: How do I know if an OTRS ticket was sent in for the photo? I sent an email to the webmaster at Emporia State, but I'm unsure if I was able to get permission for it? Do I ask the OTRS team if they've gotten an email for it, or just wait? Chokma sign[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chokma_sign.jpg I took this picture. There is nothing like it on the web, because I took it. I literally just got back from Oklahoma, with many pictures like it. Possibly unfree File:Lieutenant Governor's Aide de camp insignia for BC Québec and NB.png[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Lieutenant Governor's Aide de camp insignia for BC Québec and NB.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you object to the listing for any reason. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:29, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have now just notice your concerns about the images of the Shoulder Boards that I had placed on the Aide de camp page. Back in 2013, I had added the following image on the page File:Lieutenant Governor Québec A de C insignia.jpg because it is a photograph of my own shoulder board as a lieutenant of the Royal Canadian Navy with an appointment as an honorary Aide de camp to the Lieutenant-Governor of Québec. Afterwards, a friend who is an honorary Aide de camp to the Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick allowed me to have a photograph of his shoulder board with his insignia File:AdeC insignias Lieutenant Governors of New Brunswick and Québec.png. Finally, this summer, I meet an Aide de camp to the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia and took a photograph of his shoulder board to make the current image for Wikipedia. I would like to be able to add an image of every Aide de camp insignia of Canada on the Wikipedia page, by actually meeting people who are aides de camp.

Therefore, if you are able to help me with the licensing of my photograph, please do, because I do not understand why this would not be correct, however there were never any issues with the last two.

Thank you kindly and good day, Ctjj.stevenson (talk) 15:25, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sir,

what extra information I have to provide to show that I am the owner / creator of the image, which I have taken from my mobile. Photo is of my book. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pradeepabk (talkcontribs) 09:27, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good day,

I have noticed that my photo was deleted today. I had added information that I had taken these photographs by current aides de camp to the Lieutenant Governors of Québec, British Columbia and New Brunswick. Myself as an Aide de camp to the Lieutenant Governor of Québec took a picture of my own shoulder board. The photograph of the shoulder board of the Aide de camp of the Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick was taken by a friend who is an Aide de camp in NB last year. The Shoulder Board of the Aide de camp of British Columbia was taken last August, on the uniform of an Aide de camp to the Lieutenant Governor of BC, while I was serving in that province this summer.

Therefore, once again, I do not understand why, seeing that the first photograph was taken in 2013, and I modified them to add more information on Wikipedia. that you had deleted my photograph.

Have a good day Ctjj.stevenson (talk) 21:04, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Esoteric file tagging[edit]

Confused by this edit: why tag it with {{esoteric file}}? It had originally been so tagged, but afterward someone added it to the Maltego article, so I removed the tag; it's a language-neutral image that would work equally well on any other Wikipedia's article on the software, were such articles to exist. Re Deleted Robert Edward Weaver images[edit]

Thanks for your watch dogging of my page that I have created for my late father Robert Edward Weaver (REW). As one of his heirs, my brother being the other heir, I am merely wanting to offer interested parties a correct resource for information on REW. All images are from our family archives and created by me personally. Texts are from my mother's unpublished biography of REW. All the images of the work of REW are owned by myself and my brother. Please inform me on what steps I can take to have the images reinstated to the REW page. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Markbone1 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Markbone1 (talkcontribs) 19:26, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you marking my images for deletion?[edit]

I uploaded and I am the copyright holder myself, and specified all of the correct attributes for both of those images:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:FFX_screenshot_from_Play!1.jpg

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Screenshot_of_FFX_on_Play!2.jpg

I have no idea what you want by asking me for permission of my own uploaded and own created content, but I can't comply if you don't clearly tell me what I did wrong in giving the images a re-usable license. You are being ridiculous. What "evidence of permission" do you want?

Other than the fact that I made the images myself and uploaded them here and absolutely nowhere else and gave them the appropriate license, I can't give any more permission/validation than what there is now, under free-use and original content distribution. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BirthOfJesus (talkcontribs) 20:44, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Did you write the software? If, as I suspect you didn't, then you don't own the copyright to the software. Making a screenshot constitutes a derivative work of the software and to distribute those screenshots you need a suitable license from the software's copyright holder. Possibly unfree File:Goodall Cup Replica Cup 2014.png[edit]

This image is 100% my image. I took this image myself with my camera and edited it later, myself. Not only that, I am also a member of the media team for the hockey team that won the cup in the year this image was taken and provide media for this hockey league. My wish, as I am the copyright owner of this image, is that it is freely available. I thank you in advance for removing your allegation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Orion 2012 (talkcontribs) 01:30, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also you may wish to read the following:

Artistic craftsmanship

"If a work is not a sculpture, it may still qualify for copyright protection as a work of artistic craftsmanship. The types of product that may fall into this category include "handicrafted jewellery tiles, pots, stained-glass windows, wrought-iron gates, hand-knitted jumpers, and crocheted doilies" (Bentley and Sherman summarising the case law in Intellectual Property Law (Second Edition) p74)."

"Unlike most types of copyright works, the courts must adjudge a product as "artistic" before awarding protection under this heading."

"In the most influential case on the question, Henscher v Restawile Upholstery, a prototype of a chair was found not to be artistic, and was therefore unworthy of protection. However, different judges have different views about what is or is not artistic, and the cases following Henscher are not always helpful."

So the onus is upon you to determine whether a sports trophy that belongs to a league that I provide media for would be classified under "Artistic craftsmanship" and furthermore a court would adjudge this sports trophy "artistic" (which is required before awarding any separate protection). Then and only then can you accurately make your allegation, until then you haven't any premise to make such allegation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Orion 2012 (talkcontribs) 02:33, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If the uploader takes this as an accusation, I don't know what you can/should do to avoid accusing him; it's either that or a full-scale FFD, and isn't PUF meant to be somewhat less formal and somewhat less threatening? Nyttend (talk) 12:18, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately Stefan2 is being on the over cautious side. and sadly an image after 1923 without a clear date can't be conisdered free in the US. Take it a deletion review, as I think you have a good reason for getting this reinstated. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 23:03, 3 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
thank you. (In this case he artist died over 80 years ago, so de-facto, the work has to be certainly defined by that death date, or do Americans believe in posthumous painting?)Rodolph (talk) 10:21, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Rodolph: The problem is that the copyright term in the United States is different. For British works published before 1923, it's 75 years from publication. For British works published later, it's normally 95 years from publication. The death year is only relevant in a small number of cases, mainly if the work was first published after 1977. See the long reply I wrote to your message on my talk page. --Stefan2 (talk) 10:51, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion requests on Commons[edit]

Please don't propose files for renaming per WP:FNC#9 and please don't nominate redirects for speedy deletion when the file on Commons has been nominated for deletion. The conflict will usually be automatically resolved once the file has been deleted on Commons. Your tagging just causes extra unnecessary work and extra unnecessary moves on enwiki. I have specifically skipped all such files when adding {{ShadowsCommons}} to files on Wikipedia. --Stefan2 (talk) 20:53, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice, do you have a query that will detail the ones nominated for deletion at Commons? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:55, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly, I leave it to your discretion, but I feel that as the new title makes it easier for users to find specific people, I would say yes. Hi Sir, Sfan00 IMG my images Nachavule and Nuvvila which were updated on their respective movie pages were removed and are contested for speedy deletion. You have introduced the wikicode {{flatlist in several FUR templates. The wikicode is broken, so the FUR template doesn't work, and the broken code needs to be removed. Try to see if you can avoid this in the future. --Stefan2 (talk) 11:52, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand how this happened? Do you have a fuller list of problem edits? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:31, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I found three when going through my watchlist and then tried searching but didn't find any additional errors, but there could be an error in the query. I'll see if I find anything else when going through other entries on my watchlist. --Stefan2 (talk) 19:23, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Question on speedy deletion[edit]

Multiple erratics on the terminal moraine of the Okanagon Lobe. Cascade mountains in the background.

Hi Sfan00_IMG

It appears you've tagged a photo I uploaded in 2006 for speedy deletion (See User_talk:Williamborg#Speedy_deletion_nomination_of_File:Erratics-Cascades-PB110028.JPG).

I doubt that photo meets the criteria for speedy as it is not corrupted or empty (see inset photo), has clear provenance and is properly licensed (I took the picture myself and placed it in the public domain in 2006), is not orphaned (used in 9 English Wiki articles and is used in 4 other language articles), & is not identical (or redundant) to other photos in Wikimedia.

Of course the rules have migrated substantially since 2006, so I have things to learn. Could you advise me (my talk page please) why you have a concern about this photo?

Thanks - Williamborg (Bill) 20:21, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It maybe because it was on Commons, and the local description page was thus unnecessary. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:32, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
After understanding that you're deleting the En.Wiki version, but not the common version, you have my support. Thanks for the response. - Williamborg (Bill) 23:57, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Notice[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is IPs substituting file deletion templates. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 12:12, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think that you are one of the users who have been reverting these inappropriate substitutions, so maybe you wish to comment at ANI. You have not done anything wrong, of course. --Stefan2 (talk) 12:13, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just double checking[edit]

Hi Stan, thank you for noting missing source material on these two photos: Docks Sprotyak II used in 1963 GRCA photo number 7420816154.JPG and ESMERALDA II 1949 and 1950 GRCA photo number 7420750592.JPG

I have added National Park Service web links for those photos as sources. Does that take care of this? Thank you for your WIKI service sorting all this out. Yours, Tom RRFWTommartin (talk) 14:38, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That works for me, Don't forget to have another look at the sourcing on you other uploads :) I'm udating a few right now :)Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:39, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
