I know the whole thing seems to be about UK series. That bothers me too. I'm American. But there is a link to the US version somewhere there. So, I think the more people who know that the two are quite different, in certain aspects, get involved, we can have more control over the US versions. - Jeeny Talk 19:02, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Amber

There always someone in the house that everyone hates for some insignificant reason or other. That's what Big Brother is about. It's to cause drama. They put people who would not normally meet in real life and click, into a little box of a house. Then there's the paranoia, mistrust, because everyone is trying to get further in the game. The stronger pick on the weak, but over the top people. Amber is pretty over the top with all her crying, I guess. The other thing, is what sparked some to turn on her was the banner. If it's not one thing it's another. Have you thought about going to the many Big Brother message boards to see what other's think too?

I didn't like Dick at first, then I did, now I don't. He's too brutal and it's unnecessarily cruel. - Jeeny Talk 17:18, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I agree. I started off not minding Dick because he was a dad wanting to reunite with his daughter, but then after watching him for a while, he's become a complete ass to a lot of the people. Also, I started off not liking Jen because she seemed so vein, but after reading something where she was coached by Chilltown, (I can't believe I'm saying this but,) I actually find myself rooting her on because I was a fan of Chilltown. - zachinthebox 17:35, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Me too. I like Jen now. She's very cool about all the flack she gets. I didn't like her either before. Now I vote for her as a favorite on the CBS site. So have a lot of others, because I think she's America's fav right now. - Jeeny Talk 17:38, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
In the house, Dick and Daniele are always accusing Jen of saying snide remarks about the Daniele-Nick relationship. Maybe it's CBS's editing, but I don't hear her saying a lot of stuff about her. When I do hear it, it is mostly when Dick is yelling at Jen for something, but when Jen makes a remark, they don't seem THAT bad (compared to other things that have been said - mainly by Dick). Is it just me cheering for Jen and blocking the stuff out, or does anyone else feel that way too? - zachinthebox 18:41, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Ah huh! This maybe be why people, especially the live feed peeps, dislike Amber. I can't believe this. link. - Jeeny Talk 04:00, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
PS, now, Seth your talk page is getting more attention, unrelated to causing trouble. lol. - Jeeny Talk 04:00, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Chilltown

Really? I wasn't a big Wiki-er during All Stars, so I wasn't up on the stats and stuff, but they weren't liked? I mean, I can understand why they weren't very popular, but they were ultimately the best game players. They were able to get the other HouseGuests to turn on their own alliances in order for them to achieve their ultimate goal, to win. - zachinthebox 20:15, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I hated Mike Boogie, and still do. I thought Will played a great game. There's always two or more camps of us viewers in every BB. Just like in everyday life, we all have our opinions and they differ at times, and sometimes opposite. No one I want to win (except Will in BB2), ever does, same with Survivor. :( - Jeeny Talk 20:27, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
haha Jeeny, I'm with you. None of my favourites (except Will and Mike) EVER win, though that might be because I usually pick underdogs. But my fingers are still crossed for Jen! - zachinthebox 20:30, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm for Jen right now too. I don't know, my mind can change. It has before. I liked Jameka, and thought she should win, then Dick, maybe Jessica, now it's Jen! Oh, and I did want Yul to win Surivor and he did, so that was another one out of 14. - Jeeny Talk 20:36, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Seth: I wasn't aware that they were soo hated haha, but I think I liked CT more because they were against the Janelle/Kaysar alliiance, which I don't remember why, but I didn't like them in S6 for some reason.
Jeeny: Ah, I was an Adam fan during that Survivor. Maybe China will be my Survivor year! haha - zachinthebox 20:53, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
LOL, see how different we can be? I didn't like Adam, no offense. But, he did grow on me there at the end, but not enough. I didn't like Will and Mike on All-Stars, more so I hated Mike and Erika! Will was okay on All-Stars though. I was a fan of Janelle both times, and a fan of Janelle/Kaysar in BB6. lol - Jeeny Talk 21:19, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
haha I didn't mind Kaysar (from what I remember - once a new season starts, my mind is wiped blank of the last ones lol) that much. I didn't mind Yul either, just Adam was my fav haha - zachinthebox 21:26, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
LOL, me too! But sometimes my memory gives me little peeks at odd moments. Never when I need them. lol. I didn't even know if Yul won last season or this season. lol. Hey, my sister, who is old, is thinking of trying out for Survivor. lol. I told her do NOT put me down as a family member. lol - Jeeny Talk 04:03, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
REALLY? That's wicked! Please let me know if she makes it on (then I think you and I will finally agree on a person to cheer on to win haha) - zachinthebox 05:26, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Ya, it would be. But she'll never make it, trust me. lol If perchance she does break thru the odds, I'll let you know. lol. - Jeeny Talk 05:39, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Eric

Looks that way, but you never know. I think it's stupid if they keep Kail. Oh well. She's going to be in the finale four. - Jeeny Talk 16:40, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm, I think that Eric will stay. He's way more popular in the house than Dick, and I'm sure that CBS is just trying to create suspense by heavily playing up the "Jessica is undecided" angle. But I guess we won't know for sure for about another 31 hours :P - zachinthebox 16:51, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Ooh really? I'm Canadian so I don't have the option of watching After Dark (rolls eyes). But maybe they're just telling Dick and Daniele what they want to hear because I remember Dustin saying in the backyard to Jessica (with Amber and Eric there too) to 100% play along with their plan. - zachinthebox 16:58, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
I've been reading Joker's Live Feed Updates (Don't read if you don't want to be spoiled), and it seems like they keep going back and forth. But right now, it seems that Eric is going. Again, it could change. Everyone seems to really be concentrating on Eric, by talking badly about him not just to Dick and Daniele, but among Jameka and Jessica, and Jen. Nothing about Kail. Hmmmmm. We will see. - Jeeny Talk 17:11, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Here's some talk about Eric from the other Houseguests Joker's updates - Jeeny Talk 17:17, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Interesting. If Eric is evicted, will they tell the other HouseGuests that he was working for America? Because if he is evicted I really want Dick and Daniele to realize how stupid they looked to all of us who knew about the twist because they thought they had it all figured out, but were completely wrong. - zachinthebox 17:25, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
I really hope they do tell the other HGs if Eric is evicted. I think it's in their (CBS) best interest, because, like you said, it would screw with the others, and they'll feel stupid or quilty. Good way to hype up more drama. - Jeeny Talk 17:38, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't think that anyone would actually guess that twist, but they are clearly jumping to conclusions with Eric because WE know all the facts, and they just THINK they know them. And if the HGs were told, it definitely would create drama and even make everyone suspicious toward the other HGs because they may think there is another America's Player. - zachinthebox 17:45, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Exactly! Make them doubt eachother when America's Player is gone. They'll REALLY be paranoid then. lol. - Jeeny Talk 17:52, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes! And maybe the will even pick a new one, just to keep the America's Player twist alive. Who knows. - zachinthebox 17:55, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

After reading some of the Joker's recap or whatnot, I am sadly preparing for it. haha. - zachinthebox 19:33, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

I like the twist more so than Eric himself. - zachinthebox 23:09, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Dick and Dustin

I most certainly think Dick is going to use the Veto on Daniele. I'm not sure why people don't like Dustin, but I'm begining not to either. He seems really pompous. Dick is too mean. I don't like anyone in the house really. This is the first time that's happened. Although, I do like Jen and Jessica the best if I had to choose. It's going to be boring when Dick leaves, but I do think he went way too far with his abuse. I don't know why BB let him do that. Oh well. - Jeeny Talk 04:13, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

I agree with Jeeny. I think America picked Dustin because he told Amber that he would vote Eric out for her, but didn't. (Maybe they talked it over again but it wasn't aired - I dunno.) I'm confident that Dick will use the POV on Daniele, I'm also pretty confident Dick will deny that it's a way for them to "mend their relationship," but clearly it is. I really hope that Dick stays on the block because I would like to see him go - he was entertaining for the first couple of weeks (maybe days), but now I start to pity whoever his target is. - zachinthebox 04:59, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Power of Veto

Hmm, I always thought that the Veto meeting happened Monday afternoons (I don't have the live feeds, so it's Tuesday night for me :P). This article says that it is held "1 to 2 days after the nomination ceremony". Maybe it'll be a live Veto tomorrow? Has that been done? Sorry for the lack of help. - zachinthebox 19:33, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Sock puppets

From part of the page at Wikipedia:Sock puppet:

  • "Multiple accounts may have legitimate uses, but users must refrain from using them in any way prohibited to sock puppets, and from using one account to support the position of another, the standard definition of sock puppetry. If someone uses multiple accounts, it is recommended that he or she provide links between the accounts, so it is easy to determine that they are shared by one individual."

But read the whole page to get the idea of how it can be wrong to use it for voting, and arguing a case, etc. - Jeeny Talk 18:12, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Jeeny leaving

My understanding is that Jeeny left because of this [1] - she read a linked article that had very racist comments at the bottom. White people has been particularly troublesome as of late, and I think that Jeeny became disgusted with some of the editors there (esp. those with fairly-obvious-but-we-must-AGF-anyway Nordicist and/or white supremacist opinions). I can see why the situation there could have driven her from Wikipedia - she should have stayed away, per her own recommendation.

I can't believe that one editor, who expressed enthusiastic support for the article that offended her [2], and also feels that Adolf Hitler would be good to picture in the Wikipedia article [3], actually had the nerve to give her a German-language farewell with a not-very-sincere sounding message (all things considered) [4]. Blatant trolling, IMO, and disrespectful.

As for the issue you mentioned, I think she specifically said that you are not the reason that she left [5]. So I don't think you are at fault here. I will, however, attempt to contact her to confirm all of this, though I don't think I'm any more capable than you, unfortunately. Regards, The Behnam 07:33, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

OMG, Seth. It has nothing to do with you at all! That message from Alicia didn't bother me at all either. I didn't know who she was talking about, and only could think of you. Still, even if that were true, and if you did play around with my page, it wouldn't have bothered me. It's a number of things, much like Behnam mentions above. The Big Brother page didn't frustrated me to the level of leaving Wikipedia. It's people pushing ridiculous POVs, and trying to bait others. Not on the Big Brother page, though. Although, the anonymous users did irk me some at times. Have fun, and don't let WP get to you like it has with me. You nor any of the regulars on the BB page have done anything to contribute to my decision. Take care, sweetie. :) - Jeeny Talk 14:11, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Ohio Newsletter

Issue II - May 2008
From the editor:

Here's Issue II of the project newsletter. We're trying to decide if this is sinking or floating. If you would like to contribute to next month's newsletter please jump right in at the News Desk! Have a great May.

The Ohio Portal

The maintainers of the Ohio Portal are looking to get it to featured status. They would like to ask all project members to help improve it any way they can. What needs to be done most is the supplying of selected articles and images.

Selected Article: Indian Head Rock

There is a eight ton rock in Ohio that was removed from the Ohio River. This rock is known as the Indian Head Rock Dating back to the early 1800’s, this rock was seen sticking out of the Ohio River and used as a navigational mark for barges along the river. The names of citizens from the town of Portsmouth, Ohio are carved into the rock from the late nineteenth a early twentieth centuries. Some of the names were of well known families from Ohio. They would swim out to the rock, have their picture taken with it or simply carve their names into it.
With the advent of the Locks and Dams along the Ohio River, the rock eventually was submerged, but the legend lived on. A gentleman from Ironton, Ohio located the rock after searching a very long time for it, and he and a crew of scuba divers recovered the rock and took it to the shore to be donated to Ohio for historical value.
After hearing the news about the rock being removed, Kentucky introduced legislation against the removal of the rock. They also want the diver who found it to be prosecuted for removing the rock. Kentucky owns the greatest part of the land the river runs on. Even the Army Corp. of Engineers got involved as to how to move the rock without damaging it. Kentucky wants to have it returned to the river.

The WikiProject Ohio Newsletter

Issue III - June 2008
From the editor:

This is the third edition of the WikiProject Ohio newsletter. If you have any project announcements feel free to drop them by the NewsDesk. It's request that you watchlist our talk page; so you can chime in on current discussions. Have a great June!

The Ohio Portal

The maintainers of the Ohio Portal are looking to get it to featured status. They would like to ask all project members to help improve it any way they can. What needs to be done most is the supplying of selected articles and images.

Getting the Project Moving
  • WikiProject Ohio as an entity doesn't have as much action as other state projects. For this reason it has been proposed that the inactive WikiProject Ohio Townships be added as our taskforce. There is a !poll going on at WT:OH and your opinion is essential in the matter!
  • Stepshep has also proposed sending an invite to everyone in Category:Wikipedians in Ohio with an invite to join the project. If you are already a member you would not receive the notice of course. Once again, please note your opinion on the project talkpage.

The Central Avenue Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located at 201 to 338 Central Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. It consists of late 19th and 20th Century Revival-style houses as well as late Victorian-style houses, which were all originally single-family residences.

On December 16, 1982, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Each month a new Ohio related stub is the selected article. If you have a new stub created feel free to nominate it at the NewsDesk.

Disambiguation link notification for January 1

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Unexpected (Michelle Williams album), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Michelle Williams (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
