New Manila Map

Thanks for the new Manila map. I was embarrassed though you had to mention me. hehehe. Congratulations. My alma mater was renamed from Don Bosco Technical College..to Don Bosco Technical Institute, it's in Mandaluyong though (it matters to me. hehehehe, I know you can figure out why). This is more accurate. Cheers! Scorpion prinz 01:10, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Salamat! :) Scorpion prinz 21:53, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I'm wondering if you can add a Wikipedia logo (if it's allowed) on your Manila map? That'll prevent others from not attributing Wikipedia, and most especially, you. --Howard the Duck 07:44, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Dynamic Mapping

I salute you seav for being an excellent contributor to Philippine geography. Your maps had been widely used in schools, non-profit organizations, the media and even local government units. To further improve web user interest to your maps, consider converting some of them like regional and provincial maps to dynamic maps. Converting them to dynamic maps (like Template:Australia Labelled Map or Template:United States Labelled Map) will have the user click on the province, city or municipality they wish to navigate. --Exec8 17:14, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Tagalog WIkipedia?

Why you're not that active in Tagalog Wikipedia? --Mananaliksik 02:18, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I was searching for artistic Pinoy Wikipedians and since you have two featured images I think you could be of help. I requested images for the Tamaraw in the tambayan but it seems to have fallen in deaf ears. I think most of the people in the tambayan are more inclined culturally or politically so I son't harbor any grudges against them for ignoring my posts. I only request at least two or three Tamaraw images (and the piso!). It is okay if you cant give me the images although I would appreciate it if you point me to the right people.

My goal is to make the article a good one. I cannot save them by myself but at least I can make the world know what their plight is. Without images, I think this article cannot be promoted from Start-Class no matter how much prose I plug in. I hope you would consider my request. Lenticel 00:28, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

District maps of Manila

Can you still make a another map of Manila, showing its districts (Tondo, Sampaloc, Sta. Ana, etc.) like this or like this with city districts belonging to the same congressional district having the same tone of color, but different shades? ÜÜÜ Scorpion prinz 11:37, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Also if you have the luxury of time, a map like this highlighting only the city district itself. So we have maps for the city district articles. Scorpion prinz 11:39, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Tondo: Manila-Caloocan boundary at Rizal Avenue then going S along Rizal Avenue upto PNR railroad and then W along PNR Railroad at Old Antipolo Street (upto Estero de San Lazaro (creek almost halfway between Jose Abad Santos St. and Rizal Avenue) then S along Estero de San Lazaro.
Note: Between Jose Abad Santos Ave and Rizal Avenue along C.M. Recto there are 2 creeks. The creek immediately to the E of Jose Abad Santos is Estero de Magdalena, the other is Estero de San Lazaro, the 2 creeks meet upstream somewhere near Quiricada street, from thence it is just Estero de San Lazaro.
Tondo I: The part of Tondo W of Manila-Caloocan boundary at Estero de Sunog Apog (estero just E of Juan Luna Street) going S to Estero de Vitas, then further S to Estero dela Reina.
Tondo II: The part of Tondo E of the abovementioned boundary.
Sta. Mesa: Manila-Quezon City boundary at Ramon Magsaysay Blvd. going W to Nagtahan intersection, then S going to Nagtahan Bridge, then E along Pasig River going to San Juan River then back to Manila-Quezon City boundary at Ramon Magsaysay Blvd.
San Andres: Manila-Makati Boundary at Tejeron going N along Tejeron to Pedro Gil, then E along Pedro Gil upto Estero Tripa de Gallina (estero before Concordia College-Paraiso ng Batang Maynila up to the back of St. Scholastica's College) which leads to the Manila-Pasay boundary.
Warning even the MMDA reports they can't trace some of Manila's creeks anymore. Ü Scorpion prinz 05:29, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Philippine piso

I see you're one of the people refusing to accept that the name of your own currency needs no "translation" as it's perfectly clearly called the piso. This encyclopaedia is, at present, extremely influential, since it regularly supplies the first results on popular search engines and is mirrored practically to infinity. Hence, misleading information in this encyclopaedia has the capacity to spread far and wide. That is why it is so important to ensure that a forty-year-old name is not used for the modern currency simply because a few people find it easier than using the correct name. One might even go so far as to call it foolishness.

Reproducing maps

Hello,

I would like to ask for permission to reproduce your Philippine regional/provincial maps on my own Philippines-Archipelago website please. They would be modified to fit my own format etc etc.

You don't have to ask for permission (though I do appreciate it). You can reproduce the maps and the only requirement is that you follow the terms of the GFDL. --seav 16:08, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Image:Ph general map.png for automatically generated positition maps

Hello Seav,

I would like to use Image:Ph general map.png and Image:Ph general map blank.png for automatically generated positition maps like for example in Template:Infobox German Location for Template:Philippine Location on German WP. I would appreciate if you could tell me the Map projection of these maps and their range in west-east and north-south direction as well as the geographic coordinates at the edges. Many thanks in advance --10:04, 10 August 2007 (UTC) Septembermorgen

Re Fair Use

Yes yes I already know that. All fair use are infringements. What I was trying to really say is there is that it follows the criteria lay down under fair use policy. That the ability of the copyright holder to sell or use the photo commercially is not hampered at all. And I wasn't replying to your comment but to the person you replied to as well (howcheng). One of your images on WikiPilipinas

[1] someone removed a template of yours on one of the pictures you created that they copied. They apparently think that modifying the image means they can remove the attribution template. Just letting you know. I'd fix it myself but...right now I don't feel like I'd want to create an account there. :P Wow, they're soooo breaking GFDL rules. Shrumster 07:00, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Thought they didn't actually update it since the file edit history said Marc 16. Seems like the software they're using doesn't even show subsequent image uploads/proper file history. So now they've made a derivative work from your work, without attributing you. *shakes head* Shrumster 07:03, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Linking to your blog

It's all working now, although I kept the original names, thinking it was a bit less disruptive. It looks as though Wikipedia:Tambayan Philippines is trying to be a notice board and a WikiProject at the same time. I don't know how well that will work in the long term, but it seems to be stable for now. -- Prove It (talk) 12:50, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Interactive KABEETmap

Hi, I admire your contributions in the Philippine article as well as the other cities of the country. However, I just wish you would not disallow the interactive map link provided by KABEET.COM in the external link. It is an interactive flash map website (purely Filipino made) and unlike your creations, the file can not be uploaded in wiki. The maps of KABEET.COM may not be as gorgeous as the google earth map, yet it has the heart of Filipino ingenuity. Wikipedia is no doubt a breakthrough in FREE information, and adding this link is a help to researchers too, as testified by viewers who post their comments. Maybe if you can check the map further, you can see what we want to say. Try this one Thank you. --Sambuddy 14:58, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

About Butuan City

Hi Seav, I wonder why Butuan City is no longer part of Agusan Del Norte. The Butuan City article also doesn'tt specify what province it belongs now. So how do I classify Butuan City, now that it's no longer part of any province? Do you happen to know why? If you do, would you please put that information in the Agusan Del Norte and Butuan City articles? Napindan Channel

Yes, the references do sound confusing about whether the Napindan channel is part of the Pasig or not. At nangunguna sa pagcontribute sa confusion yung Pasig river article.

If you can go to a nearby Powerbooks, you might be able to find Pasig:River of Life, Edited by Reynaldo Alejandro and Alfred Yuson (Metro Manila: Unilever Philippines, Inc.,2000.). It's one of three unilever-published Alejandro books covering the Manila Bay-Pasig-Laguna Lake system. I do not have a copy of the volume but that is the first authoritative source I can think of, short of visiting the LGUs involved or perhaps the LLDA.

I am of the opinion that the Napindan should be considered part of the Pasig, with Laguna de Bay being the main source of the Pasig whenever the lake water level is lower than that of Manila Bay, and vice versa when the water levels are reversed. A look a the map convinces me of this.

But obviously, since I have not made a Napindan Channel article, I'm not all that confident.

Hehe. I've been sitting here for the better part of an hour agonizing over whether I can give you a more definitive answer, but I suppose this is as good as it gets for now. I'll set my research assistant on the problem right away. (She has texted back that she too thinks of Napindan as part of the Pasig.)

By the way, if you're ever in a position to get a good snapshot of the area of the The Napindan Hydraulic Control Structure, would you mind snapping one for the Pasig River article? I've tried several times but I can never get a good shot. The ideal time would be while stuck in traffic on the bridge that crosses the Pasig. Or I suppose we could get a shot off google earth instead. (I'm not familiar enough with the google earth program to figure out how to take images of my search area yet.)

Wish I could have been more helpful, dude. Alternativity 17:24, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

about advertising on me jpaee

hi, i would just like to say that the wiki page for igbaras, iloilo was fine as you came around and change it. I Have made contribution for only for that page from igbaras and obeyed the rules and guidlines of wikipedia. As for advertising, actually its promoting because majority of fellow filipino's do not have the time or money to make websites and where promote there small town not compared to other towns like igbaras. Take for instance town Cabatuan in iloilo in the wiki page for that town, there websites are advertisements, meaning they are making money out of there own website, as compared to my igbaras.net and where im not, and still not making money.

So im asking, just leave the links for igbaras.net and igbaras.com.

thankyou

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:University of the philippines logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Moe ε 09:57, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Bukidnon-related articles

My bad...I'll try rewriting them if I have the time and energy.

I gathered most of them from the municipal/city planning & development offices & they are facts about the municipality. Data from these offices is the same with the ones posted on the eLGU websites of these city/municipalities. Rewriting them is somewhat hard because they are facts about that certain place & rephrasing them is time consuming. Anyway I'll try it some other time because I'm from the province & I felt that information about my province should be on the wiki.--Kleomarlo 12:00, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
