Lotus Agenda

I believe the edit should not have been reverted. I just added an external link to a website which is already mentioned in that page, but clearing up it's not only for solving the USB problem (network printers are another issue for example, which is also addressed by that software). I didn't open an account because I don't regularly edit pages here. This is my first (and probably the last) one. Stuff

Did you see my note re: Ms. Starr? Also, quite a while back, I tagged Acoustic rock for being an unreferenced stub that oozes original research. It's been sitting dormant for a bit. Which isn't too harmful except it is being inserted... incorrectly... as a genre... into the genre field of several song/album/artist infoboxes... which is a poor use as A)it's uncited OR and B)it isn't even a genre it's simply a style of Rock music. Perhaps you could look in and see what I mean. I was going to consult Wiki-music policy pro PEJL about it... but he is probably not familiar with the library gang so he may not take the request too seriously. In my opinion... since it's been sitting as an orphaned piece of crap for so long... it should be rm'd. Nothing so drastic as an AfD or a Speedy D... but it could probably be re-directed to folk rock without too much hassle. It essentially dupes some of the essence of that genre article anyways. One thing about re-directs.... you shouldn't redirect to a re-direct :D . You re-directed the page to Folk Rock(capital R) and Folk Rock(Capital R) is a re-direct to Folk rock(lowercase r) Only the first letter in a genre is capitalised. Pearland High School

Hey Scarian!

You reverted the additions I made on August 31st, 2007, of this year to both the Valedictorians-Salutatorians of Pearland High School and its notable alumni players. It appears you are a Brit, and doubt you have ever been to Pearland High School, much less survived it as I have. But if you want sources for the Valedictorians-Salutatorians of Pearland High School, there are multiple sources to consult: Each Gusher yearbook of each year, AND a plaque that has been hanging in the main office of Pearland High School for at least 30 years. The sources for my notable alumni are the National Football League offices in New York, New York, USA, or if you can't afford the plane fare, www.nfl.com.

I am very annoyed by someone who knows nothing of Pearland High School altering my additions of FACT to the page claiming it is "vandalism." It is nothing of the sort.

How do I know so much about Pearland High School? I am its 1989 Valedictorian; I know worlds more about it than you. How dare you remove facts and claim they are "vandalism?"

As for the name, "The University of Texas" -- that is the official name, including the "The" -- source, www.utexas.edu --- "University of Texas" without the noun determiner "The" is not used, and does not exist. Again, the english language in The United States of America uses the noun determiner "The" in front of *some* proper names, and the noun determiner "The" *is* used in this case; british english is not being used in this article.

As the rules state, "Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism."

You are correct I did, indeed, revert your edits to Pearland High School. I shall address individual points in your message. "Vandalism" - One popular past time for anon's is to go through school alumni's and changed the names there, often putting their own, or a friend's name to be 'cool'. I apologise for assuming it was vandalism straight away. But I was well within my rights as an editor to assume that it was vandalism seeing how common your error's are/were. I shall explain later on how they are errors.
"I see you are a Brit" - Please do not remove refer to me as a "Brit", you're making some sort of statement based on my nationality that could be considered as segregation. I believe it is also a reference to me not knowing about the High School. Please read WP:COI. No editor and/or contributor is better than any other editor/contributor.

Erm... Please read WP:CITE on how to cite and what is and is 'not appropriate for a citation. You see, your argument fails through on verifiability which is a key core of Wikipedia. If I can't verify something, then how do I know that what you're speaking is true? And you are quite correct, I can't get over there to check out your little yearbooks. Please read WP:VERIFY which is about why verifiability is important.

Please know that I did not take the issues to his talk page because I felt you did not do a good job, I did it because it seemed he had not followed your advice, and I felt that perhaps a more thorough explanation could be helpful. That being said, I will be honest and advise you to check your sarcasm at the door when dealing with issues like this, because while I appreciate (and partake of) sarcasm, it really can be misinterpreted in a text-only forum such as this, and can also be considered WP:BITE-y. Things like "parents must be proud", and "Oh, look! The "Brit" version of encyclopedia.", while I understand the reasons, (to diffuse hostility), I think that ultimately, they may not come across quite the way you wished them to. But please don't take my comments negatively, I'm only giving you my opinion, as it seemed this particular user was not really open to humor or sarcasm, and was very defensive already, so it seemed that perhaps another reminder may be helpful, which is why I posted mine. Only and idiot would change BACK that Barclays is 4th largest by assets but 28th by Market Capitalization! You may not work for Barclays but the IP does. I've checked and Barclays are not in the top 10 by Market Cap. Market Cap and value of assets have no correlation. Valuation of assets is all down to accounting policies, while Market Cap depends on the market's expectations of profitability and growth. Kelpin 16:43, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Dear Ms./Mr. Scarian,

I did not see any means of leaving you a message, so please excuse me for leaving it here. Recently I removed some racist/prejudiced statements from the Talk page of the Pip (Southpark Episode) article.

These prejudiced statements were an embarrassment to Wikipedia, and in no way helped with understanding the article.

I am witting for two reasons: Firstly, I originally assumed that (since the revert happened so quickly) that you had not actually read my changes, and that you were trusting your software that what I was doing was vandalism. If this is the case, then please be more conservative with reverts in the future.

Although I originally assumed that your restoring the racist/prejudiced statements was unintentional, after finding your user page having so many references to Britain, I am concerned that you may have restored the racist/prejudiced statements intentionally, since the statements were initially made in the name of Britain (and by a user who also claimed to be British). If this is the case, then please confine your opinions of other races/cultures to articles of which race and culture are the primary focus.

Once again, I apologize for leaving you a message here and for not having a screen name. I am new at this Wikipedia thing, and am making every effort to not let my ignorance of Wikipedia standards hinder the functionality of Wikipedia as a whole. Unfortunately, I will be unable to receive responses to this post, so once you have read it, take from it what you will delete it. Thank-you for your time.

One for your watchlist

If it isn't too big already (my former account watchlist had over 4000 pages in it!!!!) could you add Carol Kaye to your watchlist. Ms. Kaye is one of the most respected session bass players of the modern Rock world. However there is a small section in her article about disputed session credits. It's small and insignificant... but it has a reference so it has some validity. That being said, the page seems to be monitored by an editor who does not like any negative blemishes appearing in the article and has... on several occasions.... blanked the entire section. Little Walter page

Scarian, What do you have against Little Walter? Why do you keep removing verifiable, referenced information and quotes from his bio? The things you keep removing because you think they qualify as POV happen to accepted by virtually all experts on the subject as important and relevant contextual information, which you'd know if you looked at the references. If you have a personal problem with Little Walter, leave his entry to experts on the subject, because the changes you insist on making reek of vandalism to me.

If you really need to excersize your POV editing skills, why don't you check out the Muddy Waters article, or better yet, some subject you have more than a casual knowledgeable about?

Haha, I love messages like these. Okay so here's the deal: I was asked by an experienced user to conduct a POV removal on said article. I did so and I asked him to check to make sure it was all alright. He confirmed this. The article was POV laden as confirmed by an administrator. My edits reek of vandalism? I doubt that friend seeing as over 1000 of my edits in my brief period of time here have been spent removing vandalism.
As to your statement about accepted by experts and everyone else alike - [weasel words]. That is a view. An opinion. You cannot write: "He was a revolutionary harmonica player" - It's a point of view. Please read WP:POV.
As to your "verifiable sources" - one of them was a fansite. I wouldn't call that an indepedent, third party source, would you? Please read WP:Verify and WP:CITE.
Please do not tell me what I can and cannot edit. Anyone may edit any article. There are no restrictions, technically, that prevent people from doing so.

It's usually considered best when adding or removing content to not have the minor edit box checked. Don't worry, putting yourself up for an RfA, I assume, must be a rather traumatic experience, in it's own way. You gave honest answer's and I like that a lot. There are some hardliner's who scout out the RfA candidates like private investigator's willing to dig up anything in order to discredit a candidate.

Scuba Diving has been hit hard today by random editors with the same stuff and I have been pretty much final warning people who put the same stuff from different IPs as either they are working together or the same person using open proxies.   • I removed the episode synopses from the main Californication article because most other TV shows on Wikipedia are not formated in that template. I do not know if you noticed but I moved the synopses to List of Californication episodes (which is linked in the infobox in the main article) and each entry on the List of Californication episodes has an individual entry were each episode can be described in detail. If you're not too busy(you;re not doing too much around here yet are you :D Could you A) watch the Iron Maiden and Cradle of Filth pages for a user who hasn't got a grasp on WP:CON's partnership with WP:ENGVAR when it comes to "Non-Yankee" band grammar. And... this ones easy... B) Take a peak at Chris Duarte and tell me if it doesn't look like Non-notable advertising/self-promotion. He made himself a "see also" on the great John McLaughlin's page... simply because he's influenced by him. That's "grasping" in my eyes. His article just screams copyvio from an external websource... either his own or a fanpage blurb somewhere. These ones are easy pick-offs. Not sure how you made such a glowing error on such a simple word but somehow it came out spelled as oppose???? Not sure what happened there??? HAHA! Following Alf's decision??? Thou must thinks for thyself :D . My post was just early morning trickery... if you truly oppose then that is your decision and that is fine. I was just being a smartass because if I were allowed to vote I would've voted support. Iron Maiden are a band... and it is a torture device(a very famous one at that thanks to Bill and Ted). And with that... following most Wiki tradition the band's name would get (band) tagged onto the end of it. Like Saxon vs Saxon (band) or Japan vs Japan (band). It isn't that way 100% on Wiki though so there is some precedence set that (band) doesn't always follow a disambig band name. Look at U2 for instance. Not having (band) after Iron Maiden makes the assumption that anyone coming to Wiki and searching for Iron Maiden will, most likely, be looking for the band. In my humble opinion and encyclopedia should never make assumptions about anything. If it were me... both Iron Maiden and U2(and all others) would have (band) after their name. But that's just me.... if you disagree then that is perfectly absolutely totally great... because that's what Wikipedia is all about.
