Welcome[edit]

Hello, Russianname, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

If you are interested in Ukraine-related themes, you may want to check out the Ukraine Portal, particularly the Portal:Ukraine/New article announcements and Portal:Ukraine/Ukraine-related Wikipedia notice board. The New article announcements board is probably the most important and the most attended one. Please don't forget to anounce there the new articles you create. Adding both boards to your watchlist is probably a good idea.

Finally, in case you are interested, similar boards exist at Russia portal as many editors contribute to topics related to both countries. The respective boards there are: Portal:Russia/New article announcements and Portal:Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board. Of course there are also many other portals at Wikipedia or you may just get right into editing.

Again, welcome!--Irpen 05:10, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year! I wish you in 2007 to be spared of the real life troubles so that you will continue to care about Wikipedia. We will all make it a better encyclopedia! I also wish things here run smoothly enough to have our involvement in Wikipedia space at minimum, so that we can spend more time at Main. --Irpen

Did you know?[edit]

Updated DYK query On 12 April, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Russian language in Ukraine, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Seeing as you know so much about Russian issues in Ukraine, based on your impressive ru-wiki articles, can you help a bit with Ukrainian section on that article. Thanks. --Kuban Cossack 22:45, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, sure, I will add more info concerning xenofobia in Ukraine. Please check your Russian talk, I`ve left a message. Thank you. Russianname 08:35, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please correct my broken English. Thank you. I will add more later. Russianname 09:48, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My revert[edit]

I do not understand your last revert. --Russianname 04:42, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--Russianname 04:48, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the source you provided and saw that it is all in Russian. Providing sources in Russian is not a good idea on the English Wikipedia. That is my reasoning. — Alex(U|C|E) 04:50, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--Russianname 04:52, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an English Wikipedia, most people who read it won't be able to understand Russian. — Alex(U|C|E) 04:53, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--Russianname 04:56, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just take it easy, it is just an encyclopedia. — Alex(U|C|E) 04:59, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--Russianname 05:01, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Look, it's not like I reverted you millions of times, I just reverted you once. Calm down. — Alex(U|C|E) 05:03, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--Russianname 05:05, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Let's just leave things at this: I'm too tired to deal with disputes right now. I will leave everything as is and explain my reasoning when I'm thinking straight (probably within a week). For now, I'm taking a break. I don't care if you revert me. — Alex(U|C|E) 05:08, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • I do not want to revert you and I will not do this. I just want to understand what is going on. No dispute, just please explain why all sources must be in English. --Russianname 05:10, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Like I told you before, I can't do that right now. I'm too tired and can't think. If you want to hear a good explanation, you'll have to wait. I'm sorry, and I do mean it. — Alex(U|C|E) 05:12, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • OK, thank you in advance. Sorry if I have offended you somehow. Anyway I will try to find more sources in English. Thank you again. --Russianname 05:55, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Here's my response: I saw the edit and noticed that the {{cite web}} template wasn't used. Of course, I was sleepy at the time so I didn't think about it long and decided to revert it. Sorry if that bothered you. As for the dispute on that page, I'll sort it out as soon as I have free time on my hands, which might be in a week or so. — Alex(U|C|E) 21:35, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Mediation[edit]

A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Podilsko-Voskresenska Line, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible.Alex(U|C|E) 02:51, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wikimarkup[edit]

You may ofcourse do your edits any way you want to, but for readability, it is usefull if everyone sticks to the same way of markup. I'm specificly talking about the way to reply with different levels of indentation. The way you are currently doing it is the following:

text

  • re text
    • re re text
      • re re re text
    • other re re text

the more common method is
text

re text
re re text
re re re text
other re re text

the *'s sometimes get mashed up in the interpeter when two markups are used together:
text

re text
    • re re text
re re re text
    • other re re text

--Russianname 12:59, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dialogue[edit]

May I suggest in a spirit of dialogue that was starting to appear, that you revert the article to the version that was here before the recent revert war? You can revert it to the version with NPOV tag before anonimous users removed the tag. Since you agreed to mediate, things should be cleared at mediation before making changes to the article. Changing everything at will defeats the purpose of mediation. Doing things by force and reverts is not going to work, I hope you've seen that already. So, let's go to the beginning, to the version before revert wars and continue dialogue at MedCab.--Hillock65 14:05, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • Look, Hillock. I think that you understand that my recent edits are not cause for any mediation. I believe you could neutralize the article by yourself and you understand that new info made the article better, not one-sided. If you confirm that you are ready to talk here, we can settle the dspute in a few minutes and I will remove the tag. --Russianname 14:08, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • I did not forced anything and I did not agree to mediation. If you do not want to come to agreement, the tag will be restored. But first check the changes. --Russianname 14:28, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
shall we just focus on trying to reach consensus, instead of accusing eachother of trying to hinder mediation? That will probably get us further, is much more civil, and most importantly, helps keep our cool. Martijn Hoekstra 14:33, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
yes, sure. --Russianname 14:35, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • Brutal policy. You should stop this lies, neutralize your articles and give sources. Do not write me here anymore. --Russianname 16:31, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit warring at Goryuns[edit]

If you clame something, you have to provide a reference. Edit warring is not a legal way to resolve a dispute. Removing your opponents' comments from your talk page does not help either.--AndriyK 06:14, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • I already provided it twice. Do not write me here anymore. I do not want to see your provocative posts here. если ты не понимаешь по-украински, то я тебе это переведу: some ethnographic groups of Russians (goryuns) are enthnogenetically linked to local ancient Slav autochtonous populations. --Russianname 09:13, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

History of Russian language in Ukraine[edit]

Hi Russianname. You are off to such a great start on the article History of Russian language in Ukraine that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. The Main Page gets about 4,000,000 hits per day and appearing on the Main Page may help bring publicity and assistance to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created and if you haven't already done so, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. If you do nominate the article for DYK, please cross out the article name on the "Good" articles proposed by bot list. Also, don't forget to keep checking back at Did you know suggestions for comments regarding your nomination. Again, great job on the article. -- Jreferee (Talk) 02:40, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Russian Cultural Center in Lviv[edit]

Please be more careful when making large edits. Your changes to Russian Cultural Center in Lviv caused half of the article to become impossible to see. Reinistalk 20:50, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening (GMT time); you are being given this message, as notification of a Motion to Close Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Podilsko-Voskresenska Line, to which you are listed as a party. The full statement on this motion can be found on this section of the Mediation Location; if you do not agree with the closure, please post your objection in that section, where a response will be placed accordingly.

Otherwise, thank you for working towards the compromise, which has now been reached and implemented into the article. This has resulted in a successful Mediation, and an end to the dispute in question. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Vandalism of Russian Culture Centre in Lvov[edit]

P.S. While i was blocked i wrote the Russian culture centre in Lviv article, without knowing you already created Russian Cultural Center in Lviv (i uploaded mine the moment i returned and didn't know that you already wrote the article on the topic). Your article is much better then mine and it gives preferences, but mine is more nicely broken into sections. It would be nice if we could unite the articles, with you being considered the creator because it's my fault that it happend that we have two of those articles. M.V.E.i. 20:24, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • Thank you. Everything is OK. --Russianname 08:14, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening. You are listed as a party in the above-linked Request for Mediation. Following recent discussion, the active contributors and I have now finalised Proposal 1 as a compromise in this case.

As we are moving to implement this motion to the articles involved in this case, your input in this matter is required. Please read the contents of Proposal 1, and then post your opinion (as "Support" or "Oppose") at the Motion to Implement Proposal 1, in accordance with the instructions listed at the top of that Motion.

If you require any assistance, or have any queries in this matter, details for contacting me both publicly and privately are available here. Please do contribute to this Motion as soon as possible, as your input is very much appreciated and important.
