Football appearances

Hi, thanks for updating appearances for footballers but when you do so can you also update the date of change field so that we know when the statistics are valid to. In the case of international caps ntupdate needs updating and for national appearances pcupdate. The easiest way to do this is to replace the contents of the field with 5 tilde characters and the software will change this to the current date and time when you save the article. Removing Speedy at Kaleo Wassman

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Kaleo Wassman. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 11:18, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

warning--you did this again. stop. it tends to prejudice the possibility that the article might be kept. DGG ( talk ) 15:15, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

I've removed the speedy. It passes WP:CSD#A7 as he seems to be signed to a notable label, and have plenty of sources. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I missed your message at first. By the way, really nice articles. don't forget to add some categories to them so that people can find them :). Best, - Kingpin13 (talk) 17:00, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Competition names

Hi there RUPERT, VASCO here,

Please don't change again my changes in Diego Capel: this is English Wiki, names of competitions should be in English (at least in HONOURS, in storyline, if in mother tongue, they should/could be put in italics). Especially the UEFA Cup, which you "corrected" to UEFA Europa League - the competition only begun having that denomination this year.

Please respect my work, i will most certainly do the same to you. Attentively, keep it up, from Portugal - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 01:21, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

  • I understood your views, but i have seen hundreds of games of foreign leagues narrated by English broadcasters, and they say SPANISH LEAGUE or LA LIGA (never LIGA BBVA, that's a sponsor), the same for other cups and leagues. I don't agree, but i will not go into an edit war over this (or anything for that matter), so i won't revert it again. Just one doubt: what's the WIKI MARKUP symbol? Thanks.

Sincerely - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 01:46, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

The article Sabotage Soundsystem has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hairhorn (talk) 04:30, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Flags in football players' honour sections

Hi, please stop adding flagicons to football players' honour sections like you did in Arjen Robben.[1] This is against consensus in WP:FOOTY, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players. Also MOS:FLAG advises against it. --Jaellee (talk) 22:10, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Notable people in Notable alumni sections

Please note that the people listed in these sections should have Wikipedia articles about them. These sections are for navigation on Wikipedia, not listing every accomplished person who graduated from a school. I have removed many of the the red links for people who are unlikely to meet WP:N one of the criteria for inclusion on Wikipedia. I left a few who might be notable, but do not have articles about them yet. Please do not readd the names without discussion. --Leivick (talk) 00:13, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Please

Hi there RUPERT, VASCO from Portugal here,

I have another request for you, although i am not hoping to get a reply - at least i'll send you this message: as you did in Joan Capdevila, please stop removing the runner-up positions (or third places) in HONOURS, they count, and medals are handed for the third-placed teams in tournaments as the World Cup, Confederations Cup, at least these two.

It has been established after WP:FOOTY discussions that runner-up and third places will be accepted, unless players have so many honours (example Paolo Maldini) it's irrelevant. Again, i ask for some respect for other people's approach. Thank you, have a cool week - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 22:32, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

  • Yes, and i respect that approach, but runner-up in a WC is no small achievement, so it has been decided by the vast majority of the people at the debate forums that those are accepted. Thus, please, don't remove them. Cheers - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 22:39, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
  • Since i respect your work, i'll bring up the discussion at WP:FOOTY, then send you a message with the results. But last time i talked with someone about this, they told me it's irrelevant, some people want X and some people want Y. Besides, i know that sometimes the competitions are called by English-speaking fans and/or commentators as "LA LIGA" or "COPA DEL REY" or "BUNDESLIGA", but NEVER (and you changed it at Hans-Jörg Butt) have i heard the German Cup being called DFB-POKAL outside the German nation.

I myself am a fan of coherence, and write CUP, LEAGUE or SUPERCUP (another one, i have NEVER heard an English broadcaster say "SUPERCUPA ROMANIEI"!) attached to the proper country. But like i told you above, i will start the discussion and sent you a message. Cheers - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 22:49, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

  • Nope, not upset at all, only a game, they beat Portugal fairly, same today with Holland ;) - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 22:56, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
  • As promised, here are the results of the discussion (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#User:Rupert1904). So, you win (you and everybody can write LA LIGA, BUNDESLIGA, COPA DEL REY, etc etc all over the place, i won't revert it, i respect the forum's decision), but i also win (runner-up and third-places - the first only does not count in leagues, the second counts only in World Cups and Confederation Cups but it counts - stay in players' pages, so stop removing them please).

Also, please stop inserting in Spanish players which won the 2010 WC "he is a World Cup winning player", it is not a proper introduction for an article, it is included in the storyline part of INTERNATIONAL CAREER. Some editors (me included) have been reverting it, please respect our work. In a few years, when said players retire, maybe it's OK to write "He was part of Spain's squad at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, as the national team became WC for the first time in its history", something like that, but not for now i think. Take care - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 17:12, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

  • Thanks and nice work on Juan Carlos Aguilera, i only made some display arrangements, are erased runner-up in LA LIGA (probably you misunderstood my previous message, but 2nd position in domestic leagues do not count, only in cups). Cheers - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:36, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
  • Another thing RUPERT, if you please: please stop changing the link to cup seasons (in honours) from the whole tournament to just the final, a cup is much much more than the final game. Please? Thanks in advance, have a nice weekend - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 02:21, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
  • After i asked you politely (offering logical reasons) two insert the entire competition in "Honours", not just the final (even the bigger teams in Spain, Italy and Portugal, who enter the tournament later, clan play up to four, five games if they go all the way - not in Germany, there it's "all against all" from the beginning) you continue to think otherwise - i should have known after my message went unanswered.

OK, won't bother you anymore, sorry for having done so, apparently. - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 01:27, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

  • I see man...Sorry for any misunderstanding on my part. OF COURSE you did not do your edits to spite me, never inferred that. Keep up the great work, see you "around" - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 13:02, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello Rupert, I have reviewed your GA nomination of Atlético Madrid, and have failed the nomination due to a lack of inline references throughout most of the article as well as the existence of maintenence templates that require addressing. I have left additional comments at the GA review page above. The article is in decent shape overall however, and once the major concerns are addressed, should have a much better chance of passing a second time through. Cheers! The article of Ronald Koeman - improvement - verified information.

Dear Rupert1904. Reading the opinions of sport journalists, football trainers/experts, professional players and many football fans - and also - studying the career of Ronald Koeman and comparing him with other players - You can conclude that: 1) Ronald Koeman had powerful and accurate shots - especially from free kicks, penalties and from a long distance. 2) Ronald Koeman had accurate passes. 3) Ronald Koeman had very good vision (great reading of the game). This three features made him DISTINCTIVE and famous. It was his "trademark". This is very important to inform readers about these facts. The great request to Wikipedia's editors is to place these three facts in Koeman's article. Thank You in advance. Best greetings. Daniel - the football analyst and the player. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.191.159.235 (talk) 01:20, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted at LSU

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian in Louisiana. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Louisiana State University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you live near Baton Rouge and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:15, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Salomon Kalou. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.--Oleola (talk) 20:00, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Seb Larsson

Hello. Don't suppose you fancy expanding the previous four seasons the way you did for 2010–11? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:20, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. Another time, if you want to reply to someone's message, either click on the (talk) bit of their signature which takes you to their talk page, or else reply here below their message and probably they'll be watching for your reply. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:32, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Overwriting

Hi there RUPERT, VASCO from Portugal here,

as you did in Lucho González, please refrain from writing info that does not belong in the article (you even mentioned games where he did not appear, and spoke of goals scored by other players). That match-by-match replay belongs in Olympique de Marseille's article, not González. We must refer to games where the player reached a milestone (first goal, 50th goal, etc) or did something significant (decisive goal in title, hat-trick, sending off, etc), not ALL the matches and then some, please (you often write paragraphs of 10, 15 lines about games where González is not mentioned ONCE!), that's in Marseille's page. Please.

Also, Valenciennes is not the name of any football club, it's the city of Valenciennes FC. Also, please be consistent in your REFS from Soccernet (which i find great by the way), don't choose REPORT in some, GAMECAST in others, COMMENTARY in others, etc, always go for REPORT, that's where the text is. Also, with the Soccernet.com (or UEFA.com), we are more than covered, no need for THREE references for same match, only one suffices please.

Of course, i fear that you will not respond me and immediately undo me, but please, i am not telling any lies, ask anyone, you don't add that much info to player's articles if it's not relevant. I have started twice a discussion on what kind of info should be added and was told (TWICE) precisely that, no-overwriting/overinfo please. In addition to a match-by-match approach, you also engage in detailed commentary within the same match, please don't, in player articles that is, in the CLUB's article is 100% fine.

And this is not a question of "i compromised with you in the HONOURS in their original language, now you have to compromise with me here", not that. You just don't write like that in players' article, ask around please and don't undo this last version. I left all your storyline and REFS that speak about González.

Attentively - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 00:35, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

  • I have just finished cleaning up López's page my friend. Regarding your last question, have a look at this link (see here), Udinese qualified directly to the UEFA Cup, it was the heyday of Italian football in the 2000's, they had FOUR teams in the Champions League, so the 7th-placed also played in Europe, so Udinese did not "narrowly missed out European qualification", they did it man!

Remember, stay focused on the player if you're editing in a player's page (i think your contributions would have been remarkable in both Lucho and Lisandro if they had been written in the club's respective pages). If you are writing about a striker, i think it's not relevant to write about EVERY goal he scores, since it's quite common for a player in that position.

Keep up the good work, happy weekend - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:47, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi there RUPERT, VASCO here,

please leave the sections be in his article. A section called VILLARREAL? MÁLAGA? Those are sub-sections, the per se sections are CLUB and INTERNATIONAL CAREER, leave it be as it is now please...

Attentively - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 15:58, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Notification

Hi there RUPERT, VASCO here,

there has been an article move in ESPNsoccernet, it is now called ESPN Soccernet. Also, the dates are (for example) 23 October 2005, not October 23, 2005, so don't change it like you did in Roberto Soldado.

Attentively, happy week - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 22:19, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Huntelaar

Please write to my talk page, not in the the archives where I can't see it without definitely searching for it. Accurateness does not mean that we have to mention everything he ever did in his article. The article should still be readable. It makes more sense to concentrate on the highlights because who wants to wade through paragraphs of "... and the he scored this goal and in the next game that goal and now his goal tally is 10 and after the next match it was 11 ..." And your edits are not helping with that. I would prefer that you wouldn't update every single goal he scores, but instead concentrate on the stuff that is really important in a season. A hat-trick is notable, but scoring one goal in 4–1 victory against a team at the bottom of the table? To say he scored the "winning goal" (the 2–1) is stretching it quite far. --Jaellee (talk) 21:41, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Please have a look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 65#Every goal and assist?. Adding all this stuff is a behavior which is frowned upon because it clutters up articles and it needs to get trimmed in the end. You should really try add only notable stuff – and I still don't see why Huntelaar's goal against Kaiserslautern would be important. As I said above, it was not a "winning goal" and Kaiserslautern will most probably be relegated – the match is just a statistic in latest two weeks. You only seem to talk if you are reverted – and I do not want to do this just to get you discus a topic and give a reason for your edits. --Jaellee (talk) 20:44, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Juan Román Riquelme (and others, just an example)

Hi there RUPERT, VASCO here,

i have NEVER seen you do it in 3,4 years, but it's not that hard so here it goes: could you please insert the refs properly instead of just the URL source? Please have a look at Riquelme to see how it's done (it's not mandatory to have it so complete as in REFS#9 and #10, the ones in his BOCA RETURN, but at least the TITLE, the PUBLISHER - ESPN Soccernet, Goal.com, UEFA.com, etc, etc - and the date. OK?

Thanks in advance, happy week (i feel you also will not answer but, just as long as you grasp the concept) --Vasco Amaral (talk) 15:03, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

  • As expected...don't know what have i done to you, only wanted to help from the beginning. But let me tell you again what others have told you and several other users many times: OVERDETAIL (writing about almost every match and goal of a player) is not acceptable at WP, obviously you edit as you want, but we could save people a lot of trouble by working as a team.

Won't bother you anymore, goodbye - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 16:50, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

  • Well, since you replied, i explain: i did not mean OVEREDITING, i mean OVERDETAIL, like you did in Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Lisandro López for example, writing about every goal they scored and game they played, that is against WP rules, the ref you added to Riquelme's article was 100% fine, i said nothing about Riquelme, the only reason it was the title of my message was because i saw you added a ref there (i repeat, good work there!) - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:13, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
  • Why the sarcasm when i'm being polite ("sorry for trying to help")? Key goals are 100% fine, man of the match performances are 100% fine, debuts with a given club or national team and/or goals is 100% fine, i cannot agree more with you. What i mean is not viewed well is to write about - for example - 25 of the 38 games (in Lisandro's case) he played in a given Ligue 1 season, even if he scored in ALL of those 25 games, that's OVERDETAIL. I think i'm explaining it clearly, don't know where i'm failing... --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:24, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
  • Target you? Why would i do that? And again the aggressiveness ("you obviously don't know English as well as you think you do" - don't pretend to, i think it's enough to converse with a native speaker as yourself, correct?). So i guess this is my time to say "sorry for trying to help you", 'cause that's what i was trying to do, not TARGET you.

P.S. Nope, have never seen Hazard's page in detail, only at a glance. Bye, and if you were not being aggressive with that English skills remark, i apologize for the misunderstanding. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 19:00, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

  • Not my type of approach (Hazard), too detailed especially for a player his age but, if it has the GA status (good article), who am i to judge? Happy editing and all - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 19:03, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
  • No mate, you are wrong, i wrote "overdetail" in caps not for shouting, i did it to stress the word. Again, apologies for any misunderstandings, and yes the L. López article is better after your inputs. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 20:40, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
  • Again i will try to say goodbye in a positive manner, and not deny what is the obvious: yes i communicated with JAELLEE about overdetail in your articles and it was just an opinion, maybe it was wrong, i should not be crucified for it, as neither should you for trying the best you can, i promise i will stop bothering you with my messages, peace out, maybe you can do the same with me man, let's all work the best we can to make WP a better place.

Regards from Portugal (maybe i said something that was exaggerated to Jaellee, i again apologize, that won't happen again) - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 04:59, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

  • Took the trouble and searched my message to Jaellee here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Jaellee/Archives/2012#User:Rupert1904), can't say that i'm proud of it, won't happen again, you have done a good job overall in WP, better than mine if i should say. The buck stops here, expect the same courtesy from you (but don't hesitate to ask if you need help). Also, don't think i am doing this only to YOU, i have had this approach to many users in the past, vandals and not-vandals, the problem lies with me, not others. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 05:05, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
  • Forgot this man, for closure. Maybe you are (still) thinking bad of me, in the molds of: "This guy is such an hypocrite, saying all he wants to do is help me, then goes off and runs his mouth to others behind my back". Yes there was a conversation with another user about you, but it was not done to take any subsequent action (block, reprimand, etc), it was only because i saw User:Jaellee also had talked to you about WP:OVERDETAIL as myself, receiving no positive answer.

In my message to him (which again i repeat i am not particularly proud of), i used no threats or insults or belittling words, but could have had another tone. I also should have known, after six years, it's nearly impossible to have a complete and thorough teamwork on a given subject, pretty much everybody goes at it "freelance-style" (and that includes me sometimes!).

The buck stops here i promise, keep it up - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 14:50, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Fernando Torres

I agree it being his first Chelsea sending off makes it noteworthy; but that being the case, why not include it in the prose in the first place? We can't just assume the reader automatically knows that information. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:34, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Actually, he was sent off for Chelsea in the previous season against Swansea on 24 September 2011; see this. And when adding scorelines into prose, could you seprate scores using an en dash (–) rather than a dash (-), to fulfill the WP:MOS? Mattythewhite (talk) 17:47, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Backing down

Dunno if you have already noticed it, but i'm not retired, being however less active undoubtedly. Hope you have your Igor Denisov doubts all cleared by now.

All the best from Portugal, "whistle" if you need anything - --AL (talk) 19:43, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

  • About your query, really can't add more than this: the portuguese web is very poor regarding looking for past info on players (that or i'm no good on searching!), maybe it has something to do with the archiving possibilities of this or that site.

Regarding Danny, just a small pointer man: no need for a season-by-season header, just a club-by-club header does the job. Also, again the overdetail, no need to (for example) mention Andreas Avraam in Danny's article. Also, it's "Club/international career" not "Career", so it was correct the first way; i am going to work on it now.

Cheers as well --AL (talk) 19:02, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

  • I could have been more thorough in my reply to you (the first part of it that is), here it is: i use UEFA.com and ESPN FC.co.uk for match reports and/or interesting stories, as yourself. For Portuguese players and some worthy stories/personal facts, you can check RECORD.PT or ABOLA.PT, but i "warn" you, they are both in Portuguese.

Regards - --AL (talk) 20:41, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

  • Danny cleanup complete, i congratulate you for improving the article with those several refs. However, i had to: 1 - compose that paragraph dedicated to the 2012/13 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, the fact that Zenit had been eliminated in the group stage was mentioned twice; 2 - remove the mention that Cyprus deserved to draw in Portugal, that is completely forbidden by WP guidelines. I saw the game, Portugal did not play shit, the draw was deserved, but we just can't write that, that's for the sports newspapers man.

Kind regards again, keep up the good work and happy weekend - --AL (talk) 22:28, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

  • ...or you can ask me if you want, i'd most certainly lend a hand. --AL (talk) 01:55, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Re: Igor Denisov

Hi Rupert, I've no experience at reviewing good article nominees, although I'm a reviewer I'm a reviewer in the sense of reviewing pending changes of articles who have pending changes protection. I know the article has been nominated for a while but there is a backlog so be patient. I suggest you check the recently reviewed football articles & contact the users who carried out those reviews & they may do it. Good job on the improvements, however the lead needs expanding. Regards ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 19:33, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

  • I guess it's a fairly good addition, but without giving too much "press" to the vandals. Something like "On X or Y date, Denisov (or he, if his name already appears in the paragraph you insert the info in) stated in a interview to Z diary his preference of playing with/signing only national players". Of course you know best, i have NEVER edited in Denisov's article.

Happy week - --AL (talk) 16:35, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Teleco

No promises, but i'll try to have a look man, or at least send you some references. Tchau! --AL (talk) 18:05, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

  • I see that User:Mentoz86 has already lent you a hand, good. I think the article looks great overall, i merely made some display arrangements, kudos to you sir and happy week! --AL (talk) 19:13, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Igor Denisov

The Zenit fans' group: Don't sign black players web page doesn't mention Igor Denisov, but his article has been changed to say 'echoing the ideas of Denisov', is there evidence to support this statement? Denisov's objection appears to have been the salaries that Hulk, and Axel Witsel command, and not the colour of their skin, or sexual orientation. Best Regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 09:39, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

As it is possible to be a Russian of African descent and/or LGBT, I think to say that Landscrona's demand not to buy black or gay players was 'echoing the ideas of Denisov', there would have be a reference explicitly stating that, at the moment there's nothing in the article that even indicates he has a nationalist tendency. Best Regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 08:52, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for February 27

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Marco Reus, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Santiago Bernabeu (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Competition names / Others

Hi there RUP, how's it going?

per some of your additions in Diego da Silva Costa, the following "pointers": 1 - yes, we have already reached consensus on that, the competition names should be in its original form (for example Copa del Rey), but that does not mean that, when we again mention the competition in text, we can't say SPANISH CUP or DOMESTIC CUP, no need for "Copa del Rey this" and "Copa del Rey (or La Liga) that" all the time, after all it's still the ENGLISH WP; 2 - no need to "abuse" on the clubs' nicknames, Atlético Madrid already referred to as Colchoneros above in the text; 3 - when you add a ref, please add the ACCESSDATE after DATE (the date is the actual date of the internet article, the accessdate is the date when you retrieve it to the WP article); 4 - Honours: the competition is more, MUCH MORE than the final, Costa for example scored in EVERY ROUND this year, so the wikilink should be "2012-13 Copa del Rey", not "2013 Copa del Rey Final" OK?

Have a great weekend, keep it up --AL (talk) 17:43, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

  • No reply whatsoever? I think i was polite but fair enough. --AL (talk) 23:45, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
If you mean what i wrote to User:Terje Christiansen, how was that an attack on you? I merely said you never added accessdates, that's not a crime to forget an accessdate man, i only stated a fact. Kudos my wikifriend if you have started adding them, sincerely.

About the Diego Costa bit, i did not imply you wrote the whole page, simply the last paragraph. Hence, i only added a few tips for future edits, did not scold you about anything, i am NOONE to do that. Last time we exchanged messages (about some Zenit stuff and Clarence Seedorf) we seemed to be on a good vibe, sad this approach now (i agree it's very poor when you badmouth other users behind their back, but when you just MENTION them without any negative words - as was the case with Mr.Christiansen - i don't feel it's automatically negative).

Even so, i apologize for any inconvience, hopefull you'll accept it. I also PROMISE to not mention you to other users anymore unless it's 100% necessary, to avoid any misunderstandings. Keep up the very good work --AL (talk) 01:45, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Ah, and NO, you did not have to reply, it's just i always hope for a reply because i ALWAYS reply to messages others send me, if they're not pure straight vandalism or personal attacks (and in the past i even replied to those!) --AL (talk) 01:52, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
  • P.S. #2: for "further respect", i have removed my comment (on you) on TC's talkpage, calling it "unnecessary" in my summary. Cheers again, sorry again :) --AL (talk) 01:56, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
  • More (geez i can't leave): and you are correct if you called me picky about the accessdates, can't see the use of all those fields, i prefer for the references to be written manually, without any "graphics" (example here). AL over and out! --AL (talk) 01:58, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

The thanks you get

After all your hard work in Pierre Webó, someone just came and removed it, without ONE WORD in summary. He's saying "We don't have racist fans in my team, only the others, so i remove it!". This place is crawling with pathetic losers who don't let the rest of us work in peace, really really annoying...

Don't worry bro', i have reinstated your info in the article. But please, don't write a section called "FENERBAHCE", it should all be called "TURKEY" because the time he spent at ISTANBUL BB was very short and it has very few lines. Cheers --AL (talk) 15:26, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

  • For the moment i think it's fairly sourced overall (keep in mind again we should not OVERDETAIL). If only we should get some sources for his time in Uruguay. Always glad to help! --AL (talk) 18:36, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Mr Bentley's League Cup runner up

Hello. I'm not sure where you get the idea that the football project has decided that runners-up medals shouldn't be included in Honours sections, it's the first I've heard of it. To the best of my knowledge, there's never been any consensus either way. Perhaps you could point out the discussion where this decision was made? thanks, Struway2 (talk) 21:09, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

There have been numerous discussions on what should go in honours sections. If you go to WT:FOOTY, which is the talk page for the football project, and use the archive search box to search for runners-up honours or something similar, you'll find lots of results, none of which really come to anything. There are some people who are very keen on removing anything other than wins, and others who think runners-up should always be included, and others who think that cup runners-ups count but league runners-ups don't (I don't follow the logic of that one) and others who think runners-up count unless the player has so many winners' medals that including runners-ups as well would just be too much detail (that last one's probably where I sit, and is the same approach as laid down explicitly in the club article style guide). What there never has been, as far as I can find, is a definite ruling one way or the other on player honours.

In terms of Mr Bentley, it does seem very odd to exclude a major cup competition where he played in the final and won a medal, albeit a runners-up one, while including a TV programme's Goal of the Month competition, for which the only prize went to a lucky viewer who agreed with the pundits' choice. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 21:48, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for listening :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:09, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
  • My opinion, one as many: i feel if one only lists the wins for the likes of Lampard and Giggs it's OK, but if one ALSO lists the cup runner-up positions, one would not be incurring in an error or vandalism. However, in players with few wins or no wins and only runner-ups, it SHOULD be written in the honours sections, medals are handed out to the (inglorious) second-placed teams, in both club and national team competitions (in tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup or Copa América, hell, even the THIRD-PLACE gets a medal (thus, and honour). Cheers --AL (talk) 18:46, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi there RUPERT, how's it going?

i'm as dumb as they get regarding these new gadgets, but i received a message from a guy regarding that V/EDITOR subject last week. Maybe you should contact User:Okeyes (WMF) for more "professional" help. In a related matter, i don't think we should have a chart with youth goals (only A-team international goals) but, if you insist on having them, i'm sure Mr.Okeyes will lend a hand.

Regarding also Kondogbia also, i had to perform a cleanup in the article for: 1 - obvious reasons (the VISUAL EDITOR data screwed up page); 2 - the prose.

Kind regards, keep it up --AL (talk) 15:33, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

  • Did i do anything wrong? I see you have not contacted Okeyes... --AL (talk) 16:10, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

I only meant that Okeyes bit because, if you insist on having those U-20 goals chart (no consensus there, some like it, some don't, i repeat i prefer only senior team goals), i won't be able to assist you because i don't know how the hell the VISUALEDITOR works :( --AL (talk) 18:45, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Infobox dates

Hi, when updating infobox stats you need to update the |pcupdate= or |club-update= parameter by adding five tildes (~~~~~), which generates the specific time the update was made. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 18:03, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Honours

Please add a reliable source so we can [WP:V|verify]] information, e.g. Guillaume Gillet. GiantSnowman 18:35, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Dashes

Hi there RUPERT, AL "speaking",

i don't know if i've informed you on this, but if i haven't, please: the dashes we use in match results are the big ones (–), not the small ones like you write (-).

Happy wishes, whistle if you have any doubts --AL (talk) 15:41, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Football scorelines

Thank you for your contributions to Daryl Janmaat. Just an advice that scorelines should be entered with an endash (–) instead of (—). For convenience, it's the first symbol on the bottom toolbar in the edit window. Cheers. LRD NO (talk) 02:17, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
