Hey, just wanted to apologize for reverting this page. I was actually cleaning up behind this guy, and when I saw he had posted something called "Fact", I had to get rid of it. But it was really late at night so I stupidly didn't notice there had been later revisions. Of course your additions were not irrelevant and in fact help the entry tremendously. Sorry again, and thanks for continuing to be a good editor. --SuperNova |T|C| 00:28, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. It's obvious you know what you are doing so I figured as much. Thanks for the explanation (and apology) though. Roswell native 04:20, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been going through the 50 pages in this series, trying to modify them so that they all have some degree of consitency in format, content, and appearance. Most changes are minor, and a few have used redirects from other pages that, though they contain most of the basic information, really don't match the other pages in the series. But your page has given me some pause. While it does not match the format of the other pages, by the same token, it is also not a redirect from a page on another subject. I haven't just rewritten it to match the other pages for two reasons. First, I wouldn't get rid of a page that you obviously spent a fair amount of time and trouble on without checking with you first. And second, though the page doesn't really match the other pages in the series, it DOES have some very interesting and useful information, which it would be a shame to simply eliminate. What I'd like to do, with your concurrence, of course, is retain your existing page, with a different name, and provide an explanatory note and a link to it in the Georgia Counties page, and from the Georgia County Seats page, then redo the list of Georgia county seats page to match the format and content of the other pages in the series. There is, of course, nothing that says all the pages in a series have to have the same format. But it strikes me that it is helpful if there is some degree of consistency in layout and content. In any case, I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. I'll withhold any changes to the page until you have a chance to give me your thoughts on this matter. MAC-IN-WWWV 17:37, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

University of Georgia Press[edit]

AB, while I will concede your point about re-adding the Brad Vice info to the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction, adding that same info to the University of Georgia Press page seems redundant. I also think that info is much less relevant on the UGA press entry since the award is a only a piece of what the Press does and since the award has its own entry. Thoughts? --Roswell native 15:38, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I hate to disagree but the UofGa Press was criticized by a number of commentators for their decision to revoke the award so I think it should be in their article. That said, the UofGa Press article could easily be expanded to include more info about their history and such. Doing that would lessen the amount of space taken up by the Vice issue (which is only two sentences at the moment). Do you have info to expand the article? Best, --Alabamaboy 16:48, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Russ, Fritz has taken to editing his own article and of course has got into trouble. We may have to help. --Bduke 23:12, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

University of Georgia Articles[edit]

Hey Roswell native, I noticed you were tagging some of the UGA campus pictures and was wondering if you could think of any UGA or Athens pictures that could be added to the articles. I live in Athens and could easily get anything you think would help advance the articles. Pruddle 06:08, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I agree with your change of stub. The point of the stub is to attract people to work on the article to expand it and in this case I think we want to throw the net wider than UGA. I spent 5 months with Fritz in 1990. --Bduke 08:49, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe your arguments about the copyright issue were disingenuous. Please revert back to the form I left it as and wikify it as you see fit. The article about a scientist should really be about his accomplishments and not a forum for some sort of religious argument. I hope you agree. --Mathchem271828

(Note: Adding my reply originally placed on Mathchem271828's talk page as that user has chosen to delete them. --Roswell native 16:25, 9 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Mathchem, please assume good faith on my part, I certainly assume that of you. Disingenuous could easily be construed as a fancy word for lying - but I don't think that is what you meant. As I just stated on Talk:Henry F. Schaefer, III, the scientific info absolutely belongs on that page (and should be the main focus of the article IMO - although other previous editors may disagree), but it should not be a cut and paste from the site.
My concerns are these:
  • The material does have a copyright (which I think is probably not the case, but that's not sufficient reason to include it): Verbatim from Wikipedia:Copyright problems - "What's copyrighted? Copyright exists automatically upon creation in a tangible form. An author does not need to apply for or even claim copyright for a copyright to exist. Only an explicit statement that the material is in the public domain, licensed with the GFDL, or is otherwise compatible with the GFDL, makes material reusable under current policy, unless it is inherently in the public domain due to age or source."
  • I would like to prevent another edit war as that has already occurred for the non-scientific material on Fritz's wikipedia entry. Some editors that are very new to Wikipedia have accidentally (and innocently because of this inexperience IMO) stirred the flames so I'm erring on the cautious side of Wikipedia policy to insure folks stay cool.
  • Cutting and pasting goes against Wikipedia's guideline to not include copies of primary sources
Apologies for being so long-winded. I took a quick look at your edit history. Based on that I think you can be a very helpful source in making the HFS article a good one. I hope you choose to participate in that process. If you decide to revert that change back, feel free to do so knowing I won't revert it back in the near future, but I suspect other editors may do so, and I think a good bit of that info does need to be edited out (e.g. work locations of previous HFS students). Cheers. --Roswell native 06:57, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

UGA template[edit]

First, I saw the stub, and I like it. I'm glad you made it happen, and I think it looks fine. Borrowing the userbox template (which is just modified from similar boxes!) is totally cool with me. I didn't know you had to register either, but thanks for taking care of that -- hopefully it will make some articles better.

Also, I think the template is a great idea, and when I get a chance I'll see if there are any changes that need to be made. But I think it's a really good start to tie all those articles together. Nice job, and thanks for keeping me in the loop! --SuperNova |T|C| 03:47, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, I made some edits and left a talk page message. --SuperNova |T|C| 22:39, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About Centennial High School[edit]

Hi. I don't really know who to send this to, so i found you on the edit list for Centennial High School in Roswell, GA. I am a student there, and I check that page frequently for vandalism and every so often there are the same edits made by the same person, Kitra101. These edits are blatant lies and make no sense. I revert the page every time, but they keep coming back. Unfortunately, they don't have a user page that I can communicate with them on. Can you help me with this issue? Thanks. Hi! I have noted your work on Georgia counties. Very nice work! After discovering the List of Georgia counties, I was inspired to begin work on a county name etymology for Georgia. I just discovered this list today, but I think that my list can improve on this. I have been working on a subpage User:Ganymead/counties where I have added the information to a table and I'm currently sourcing the info as well as adding images of the county namesakes (where available). The point is really to bring this up to Featured List standard. Please take a look and see what you think. Thanks! *Exeunt* Ganymead | Dialogue? 17:49, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Charles herty.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Charles herty.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:07, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

New categories/organization in Category:University of Georgia[edit]

Roswell native: Thank you for including me in the consideration of these new categories. My initial thought was to completely defer to you because you have done so much work in the UGA space that you are obviously more in touch with the issues than I am (my contributions have been predominately related only to sports). However, since you asked for my views, I will give them to you – for whatever they are worth. If you really want to pursue an oganized catorization of all things Georgia, this hierarchy would be one way to do it:

Subcategories for University of Georgia

One additional issue to address with athletics is whether it is necessary or appropriate to distinquish between male and female atletics in common sports. That is already being done under basketball. If so, the above hierarchy would extend one more level. Basketball would look like this:

The current structure of University of Georgia basketball and Georgia Bulldogs football also highlights another issue - do players get listed as subcats of the team category and the athlete category or do we re-organize so that they appear in only one place?

It may be pre-mature to add some subcats at this time. For example, my perception is that there aren’t that many Georgia baseball players in Wikipedia at this time, so the subcat could be unpopulated or under-populated.

With respect to non-graduate attendees, I do wonder (i) whether there are enough people to warrant a subcat and (ii) whether the distinction is feasible. Particularly in the case of athletes, it may be difficult to determine who is a non-graduate attendee. Athlete bios don’t always focus on whether they actually graduated. In any event, you have a better feel for this

Some double-categorization may be inevitable, unless you tuck a subcat in more than one cat. With the hierarchy above, a football player would wind up in University of Georgia alumni and Georgia Bulldogs football players. Alternatively, you could make Georgia Bulldogs football players a subcat of both Georgia Bulldogs players and University of Georgia alumni and perhaps avoid double-categorization. However, I don’t mind double-categorization since part of the goal of categorization is to make it easy for users to browse through similar articles. In other words, since some may browse by alumni and some by player, double-categorization may be a good thing.

Finally, as if this isn’t already a big enough project, it may be a good idea to look at managing the various lists in existence (and any that are needed). In other words, how should the athlete listing List of University of Georgia people be managed vis-à-vis the list Georgia Bulldogs football#Former Notable Players and any list that might be created to list all former players.

You'll probably never ask me a question again. Tlmclain | Talk 14:24, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Roswell native: Thanks for the link to the alumni directory - I probably was notified of it, but blew it off. It is handy.--Tlmclain | Talk 16:36, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image help[edit]

Roswell native - The images that I loaded today on some UGA football players have been tagged as having possible fair use problems. Today was the first time I ever used the fair use rationale. If you can help me fix these images, it would be a great help. The discussion is here. Thanks.--Tlmclain | Talk 18:36, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reps[edit]

House websites say that Linder served in the 11th District until Jan. 2003, and then his distrct was renumbered as the 7th for the next Congress. Gringley became the new rep. of the 11th district in Jan. 2003. Hope this straightens it out. VitaleBaby 03:32, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to Georgia[edit]

Roswell native: In connection with your edits to create a table at Georgia for the micropolitian area, I stayed away from editing those earlier because 1) I don't think the same references work for the metro and mocro areas and 2) I really don't think we need to be including this information in the main article on Georgia. On top of that, based upon edits made by Polaron, I think the listed references may be wrong anyway (see my comments here. In other words, the answer to the question in your edit summary (there are the same aren't they?) is probably no.--Tlmclain | Talk 03:51, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No harm whatsoever. I had just been trying to figure out whether to go ahead and delete the micros when along came Polaron to cause me to realize that the metro table is probably screwed up, too. I really hate removing material that someone has devoted effort to create. However, if you ever had any doubt that the article on Georgia needs a lot of work, take a look at Minnesota, a state article that just reached FA status. Anyway, I've had enough fun for the day. I'll ge back to this later in the week.--Tlmclain | Talk 04:27, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

UGA Category hierarchy[edit]

Roswell Native: Good thoughts on the categorization of UGA people. While we’re at it, we might as well look at the entire category structure for UGA (good news – I saw no other changes that are needed at this time). Here is the entire hierarchy as I see it (I made a few minor changes to what you had done on my talk page, but failed to highlight them):

Category:University of Georgia

Some of the cats may not need to be created yet because there's not much to put in them. Once we are satisfied with the hierarchy structure, I think the structure should be posted at the top of the UGA talk page in a box so that other editors can (1) understand how to categorize articles and (2) understand the format to be used in connection with the creation of new UGA categories.

Of course, the foregoing structure will require some category clean-up. Here’s what I have noted so far:

What do you think? We can probably go live with this pretty soon. --Tlmclain | Talk 14:30, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Going Live[edit]

I was actually thinking about how to get this underway this before I got your message. For the "box" on the talk page, I am now thinking that we may want to create a template that we can add to the talk pages of all significant UGA articles and at the top of the categories themselves. If the hierarchy information shows up in several places, then maybe we won't be spending all of our time re-categorizing new articles. In any event, lets get the template ready, put it out there and then start creating the new categories and start re-categorizing articles. I'll start on the template on my sandbox and let you know when there is something to review.--Tlmclain | Talk 13:46, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A first pass at the template is ready for your review and editing help on my sandbox. You will quickly notice that I used your UGAtemplate as a go-by and messed it up. Please do whatever you can to improve it and feel free to edit it however you deem best. --Tlmclain | Talk 14:38, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am also wondering when you are going to start using your UGAtemplate - I think it looks great. --Tlmclain | Talk 20:16, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Schaefer[edit]

In that case, it would be helpful if you could get the editors who just showed up to understand that. Multiple attempts on the user talk page have resulted in no replies. 3RR warnings have already been given. JoshuaZ 17:36, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just put the same notice on one of the editor's talk page. If that's unsuccessful, then the editors in violation need to be reported. I thought the 3RR policy should be clearly stated on the Schaefer talk page as well since the page seems to be drawing more attention.--Roswell native 17:48, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject[edit]

I haven't wandered into a Wikiproject yet so I really don't know much about what's involved. If you think that is the next step, I'll help - but you will probably have to tell me what to do. --Tlmclain | Talk 21:28, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is something strange going on with my talk page, but I don't think you did it. The [edit] above a section works for two sections below, instead of the one directly below. . . . As to your suggestion, if you will fix my template for the category hierarchy, I say we create the template, post it on the UGA talk page and have at it. The reason I want to start with posting the template on the talk page is that it will help us (me) keep up with how it all fits together.--Tlmclain | Talk 04:05, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New cats[edit]

After thinking about it last night, I decided that there was no reason to delay starting the work pending the creation of the Category hierarchy template - it may still be very handy to have complete when we request the handful of category renames and the deletion of that one category. In any event, I created a few of the new cats last night and just finished placing a few folks in the categories. Before doing much more, I thought it maight be good for you to look at the handful that I've done so far - I think it may be a representative sampling.--Tlmclain | Talk 22:18, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template[edit]

Ok - I went ahaead and started Template:UGAcats, but it still has a few problems. The main problem is that I cannot get the right-hand border to line-up - I can't figure out how you got it to work on your template. By the way, I took out all of the future cats for now - its probably better to add them when we need them instead of filling the template with dead links. If you get it looking nice, go ahead and post it on the talk page for UGA.--Tlmclain | Talk 00:30, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You da man! Well done - it looks great. By the way, I have gone ahead and proposed the three cats that we identified for renaming and the one cat that we identified for deletion.

Supreme Court of Georgia[edit]

After looking at the titles of the Supreme Court of Georgia (U.S. State) and the Supreme Court of Georgia (Country) I think "Supreme Court of Georgia" should link to a disambiguation page. The Georgia Supreme Court is not the common name for the Supreme Court of Georgia (U.S. State). The U.S. State of Georgia has double the population of the country of Georgia, and this is the English Wikipedia, making the Supreme Court of Georgia more commonly known for the court in the U.S. state of Georgia. I propose moving Supreme Court of Georgia to a disambiguation page with links directing people to either the Supreme Court of Georgia (U.S. State) or the Supreme Court of Georgia (Country). Please let me kow what you think. KnightLago 14:09, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blue Ridge Highlander[edit]

Thanks, I guess I know a lot about what I do, but have a lot to learn about Wikipedia, I find it a facinating project. I thought adding a profile on the Highlander was ok, since there are profiles on Time Magazine, and other magazines, ours is a magazine, just not as profitable as Time. '-) I have read so many things that didn't seem any different format than I used. I even saw someone that put a "special lodging" offer on the Blue Ridge Railroad page, I knew that wasn't kosher, but I guess they hadn't been caught. I honestly want to do things the way they should be done, the Highlander is a labor of love and I just wanted to share it. Thanks for your advice. BlueRidgeBelle 04:00, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re your message: You're looking in the right place. The IP is not blocked, because I didn't block it. The IP's last edit occurred 4 hours before you reported him. The guideline for AIV reports is that you need to report the vandalism "soon" after it has occurred. Yeah, my browser quit on me in the middle of doing it and when I reopened the browser it instead edited the whole article. I fixed it though. I have a problem with the non-web source. It is from a cookbook fund raiser the school put out, and I'm not sure which category it fits under, if any.AUburnTiger 05:28, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Great job on the additional sources finds. It is shaping up to be very good! I was thinking about removing many of the sports under "Championships and Achievements" such as Swimming which have no significant achievements listed. Thoughts? AUburnTiger 21:29, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, I personally think the list is easier to read for the sports. Just my opinion. I think since there are so many state championships it would be very wordy. I'll think about it, I think for right now I'll just shorten the list and then see what we have and go from there. AUburnTiger 04:28, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I like the table idea. I think I could even do a table for the other championships and just list the year and other notes if available. I will try doing some tables tomorrow and see how it works. I worked on the clubs, I just listed it as paragraphs. Let me know what you think. As for pictures, I will be in Roswell over the next weekend and plan to take some photos while I am there. Any particular pictures you might think are useful? AUburnTiger 06:30, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added four tables for football, gymnastics, baseball, and golf. I think they look really good. I'll work on a table for the other sports later today or tomorrow. I think the tables will look good. Good idea on them. I think the club section is fine as a paragraph. I might have some photos of the campus and other areas of the school laying around here so I'll also look through some of them. Thanks for the help. AUburnTiger 20:55, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I uploaded a few pictures. A good start I think. AUburnTiger 01:11, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added the pics that I took over the weekend today. I think it might be ready for GA status.AUburnTiger 03:58, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ty Cobb GA nomination on hold[edit]

GA on hold — Notes left on talk page. Nehrams2020 10:09, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For some of the articles that I've seen for GA/FAs, they still add inline citations to the various sentences in the paragraph even if it's from the same source. I think it makes it easier for people to see that the statement is sourced, but if you think that the source at the end of the paragraph is sufficient, its your choice. I just don't want the article to face a whole bunch of citation needed tags later down the line. Let me know if you have any other questions or need further clarification on anything. --Nehrams2020 00:21, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Usually the article should be on hold for a week only, but if you go over a day or two, I'll let it slide. If you don't think you can fix all of those suggestions in that time, I can fail it for now and you can renominate it later. If you can't fix the hard return, then don't worry about it. The new information looks fine for the early life section. For the long statement "William Cobb suspected his wife of infidelity, and was sneaking past his own bedroom window to catch her in the act; she only saw the silhouette of what she presumed to be an intruder, and, acting in self-defense, shot and killed her husband." I think you should readd it like this and split it at the semicolon. Then continue with "When Amanda Cobb only saw..." Right now it looks to choppy with "William Cobb suspected his wife of infidelity." Good work so far, keep it up. --Nehrams2020 06:32, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say remove the quotes for now, copy and paste them on the talk page so if somebody ever gets interested and finds a source for it, they can add it later. The most matchups in history statement should be fine if the rest of the paragraph is cited, but again, keep looking and if you ever find something about it be sure to add it. The current #46 citation does not have a description, can you fix that? You're making good progress, only a few more things to fix. --Nehrams2020 18:59, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: GA Status for Terrell Davis[edit]

Thanks for that, I had meant to give it a B, and it must have slipped my mind about the changing of GA policy. I'll fix it, and thanks again for noticing. Alex43223 Talk | Contribs | E-mail | C 02:55, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ty Cobb[edit]

Thanks for making Ty Cobb such a high quality article. In response to your comment on my user page (66.92.53.49 -- I don't always login) regarding the Cobb strikeout edit -- Sorry about that. I removed it because, 1) The cite didn't support it, 2) It sounded very unlikely. I see now there's a cite, so I made my argument about its likelihood on the Cobb discussion page -- I leave it to others to take action or not. Thanks again. Guanxi 02:55, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Open solicitation for input/feedback[edit]

Hello! There's been some recent activity getting the ball rolling at WikiProject Journalism, and if you'd like to join us, I'm sure your input would be valued. In particular, User:Wiki Wistah has proposed a guideline for editing articles about newspapers, and although I've responded with comments of my own, WW rightly suggested that it should be more than just a two-way conversation. I've noticed some of your own edits on related matters (specifically Georgia newspapers) and thought you might be interested. Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated. Otherwise, if this is not of interest to you, or if you've already got a plateful of editing, feel free to ignore this message! -Tobogganoggin talk 02:16, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mr. Roswell. My Dad, R. E. He may be able to help fulfill this request if you are very specific as to what is needed. He worked very hard researching this information over many years, so he'd like to mike it right on wikipedia He is getting up there in years, so please contact me with a reply mike @ mlwsw.com, thanks Mike33ekim (talk) 20:10, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Atlanta Campaign[edit]

To the anonymous editor who continues to make uncited changes to this article: the material on the armies' organization and strength is cited from a couple of references shown in the footnotes. If you have alternative sources, you need to make them known and not simply change the numbers. Also, listings of Confederate armies do not include an Army of the Heartland or Army of the Gateway, and the generals you list do not appear in battle descriptions to which I have access. Please desist unless you can document your changes. Hal Jespersen (talk) 00:56, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just reverted this again. Probably best to start putting warning messages from WP:UTM on the talk page of the anon IPs so a block can be requested it if continues. --Roswell native (talk) 19:29, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help with this. Oddly enough, I have been editing actively on Wikipedia for over four years and I never knew you could leave a message on an anonymous user's talk page. I always assumed that there was no way to communicate with them other than by edit summaries and article talk pages. Have you found that this method works reliably? Georgia assessments[edit]

Hey. I've noticed that you have been doing some assessments for the Georgia US State related articles. I just thought I'd drop by to inform you that while in a lot of WikiProjects you can assess a category as Category class, you can't do that for the Georgia articles. The Georgia articles do not recognize the Category, Template, Disambig, Redirect, or Image parameters, and sorts articles given those parameters as Un-assessed/No-importance, which clogs up the assessment table. Just tag those various types of articles with the Non-Article (NA) tag for now. Thanks. Nikki311 15:24, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know where to go to get it fixed, or if it could even be fixed. I was just tagging the articles as NA for now to clean up the assessment table, to get a better idea of the actual number of articles and their importance/class ranking. When I did get it fixed, I was going to go back and reassess into the proper categories. If you know how to do it, I would greatly appreciate you either fixing the template, or asking someone else to fix it. Once it is fixed, let me know, and I'll start properly sorting the NA articles. Nikki311 15:47, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I looked through your tests and saw the message you posted. I think whatever you did fixed it. Let me know when you change over the template. Nikki311 00:32, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jane Fonda[edit]

Greetings, I've been over at Jane Fonda trying to pick up the pieces after your spree of WP:BLP deletions. I am familiar with the frame of mind that goes along with deleting huge amounts of text, and I also know that it can be difficult to know when to stop. This goes too far. Arguably the entire section was referenced, just not with footnotes. In such cases in the future, it may be better to apply citation-needed tags to indicate that the available citations (or, in this case, inconsistent reference style) may not be quite enough. Even applying BLP, I think that bulk deletion is sort of a last resort except for the most egregious offenses, and that one should at least make some effort to improve the text before removing it. Silly rabbit (talk) 14:05, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have performed a web search with the contents of Faces Of War Memorial, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.roswellmemorialday.com/war-memorial.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. Bobby Cox[edit]

Roswell Native. I realize you are from Roswell, Georgia, and as a result you have a fanatical desire to protect Bobby Cox's reputation from his own actions. But it is really time that you stopped using pure personal bias to constantly remove references to his wife battery.

Since you live(d) in Georgia, you are well aware that Bobby Cox's wife beating problems were legendary. The section on spousal abuse is the most heavily researched and cited section of Bobby Cox's entire page. It is a fact that when spousal abuse happens in the MLB, the lack of punishment for Bobby Cox is very frequently raised. This is an important and significant part of his legacy. For some reason, he beat his wife up, got away with it, and never got punished by the MLB. That set a very poor example for the rest of the sport, and it smacks of rank hypocrisy when players get suspended or fined for it.

Your fanatical love for Bobby Cox does not change the fact that this is a very real part of his legacy. The full impact of this issue should be on his page, and you need to just accept it and move on. Your can still have a full and happy life even if Bobby Cox's wiki page has the truth about his actions and the legacy it left.

Find a new crusade please - hopefully one that is less repulsive than defending the reputation of a wife beater.

I'm adding my reply here as well as User talk:Cambios as this editor appears to prefer to remove comments from his talk page. --Roswell native (talk) 00:04, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Other than remind you about Wikipedia:No personal attacks and Wikipedia:Civility, I'll ignore your personal attacks on my talk page and assumptions about my personal beliefs and stick to the topic of Bobby Cox and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. I am assuming good faith in your edits, please do the same for me.
With that said, I do think the addition you have repeatedly tried to make to Bobby Cox's page violates WP:BLP because there appears to be only one citeable incident in 1995 and WP:UNDUE because your statement about a "larger, more widespread problem that plagues all of professional sports in general' is not appropriate in one person's article. Perhaps you could discuss an alternative on Talk:Bobby Cox for which consensus could be reached. Finally, if "Bobby Cox's wife beating problems were legendary" (as you state on my talk page), then there should be overwhelming reliable sources to back up your claims and satisfy WP:BLP.

Template:WikiProject GeorgiaUS[edit]

Hi Roswell native. I'm in the process of trying to tackle the 1,116 Georgia (U.S. state) articles needing images by also categorizing them by Georgia county. I can do this by adding {{tl:reqphoto}} to each talk page, but would prefer using Template:WikiProject GeorgiaUS to do this. The template need only be modified slightly by adding three lines of code as indicated here. This code will maintain the Wikiproject list at Category:Georgia (U.S. state) articles needing images and additionally give Wikipedian photographers who live in a particular Georgia county a list of article for which they can contribute. Once Template:WikiProject GeorgiaUS is modified, I'll go through each of the 1,116 Georgia (U.S. state) articles needing images and add a Georgia county to "|in=". Thanks. GregManninLB (talk) 15:12, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the update. I tested it here and it worked. Thanks. GregManninLB (talk) 16:40, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I (finally) added all the county subcategories for Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Georgia (U.S. state). You might want to double check to see that I got all 159 of them. I also subcategorized all the pages in category "Wikipedia requested photographs in Georgia (U.S. state)" (which appears at the bottom of Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Georgia (U.S. state). Further, I contacted Wikipedian photographers in Georgia listed at Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Photographers and Wikipedia:Photo_Matching_Service#Georgia about the new subcategories. I started adding county locations to articles listed in Category:Georgia (U.S. state) articles needing images, but that seems best suited for WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state) members. Best. GregManninLB (talk) 19:48, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed a nomination of Ty Cobb to WP:FAC per the instructions at FAC because you are the significantly principle editor of the article, and it doesn't appear you were consulted or the talk page was notified; if you think it's ready, pls resubmit. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Roswell native! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 944 article backlog. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Georgia Historical Society requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Help me![edit]

Help me with an advanced template issue.

I used the "North Carolina hiking trails" template as a starting point to make the "Georgia (U.S. state) hiking trails" template.

However, it appears the "(U.S. state)" part of the official wikipedia name for Georgia USA is causing issues with template? The "v" (verbose) and "t" (talk) links at the top left of the Georgia template get directed to just "Georgia" instead of "Georgia (U.S. state)".

So, I'm not sure how to fix that. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Roswell native (talk) 16:49, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello.
The Navbox template requires that the "name" parameter be set to the new template's name in article space. In short, it should have been "Georgia (U.S. state) hiking trails" instead of "Georgia hiking trails". That was why there was an issue. The "name" parameter has no effect on the template's appearence if the "title" parameter is set.
{{subst:PAGENAME}} is a quick and easy way to set the name parameter correctly.

Global account[edit]

Hi Roswell native! As a Steward I'm involved in the upcoming unification of all accounts organized by the Wikimedia Foundation (see m:Single User Login finalisation announcement). By looking at your account, I realized that you don't have a global account yet. In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount and unifying your local accounts. If you have any problems with doing that or further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 21:46, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Georgia Bulldogs swimmers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for four days or more and it is not presently under discussion at Categories for discussion, or at disambiguation categories.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Okay, Roswell Native, that's the required boilerplate notice. The short explanation is that I have split the original Category:Georgia Bulldogs swimmers into Category:Georgia Bulldogs men's swimmers and Category:Georgia Bulldogs women's swimmers, and it will not be re-populated. This parallels the gender split for the other larger NCAA swimming programs -- Auburn, Florida, Stanford, Texas, USC, etc. I assume this is unobjectionable. If so, I will also gender-split the existing swimmer categories for Arizona, Cal, Michigan, Texas A&M and UCLA in the near future, too. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 23:56, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Survey Invite[edit]

I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they affect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take no more than 1-2 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.

Survey Link: http://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9S3JByWf57fXEkR?Q_DL=56np5HpEZWkMlr7_9S3JByWf57fXEkR_MLRP_0xnVMu3xT6Wmzrv&Q_CHL=gl

I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.

Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 23:17, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox pages[edit]

Please note that while you're allowed to keep sandbox pages such as User:Roswell native/sandbox, per our WP:USERNOCAT rule you're not allowed to file them in mainspace categories as if they were completed articles. I just had to remove, for the second time, categories that you readded to the sandbox page again after I removed them for the first time a month ago — so please be reminded that sandbox pages are not allowed to be filed in mainspace categories. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 22:40, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Frank Park[edit]

On 8 August 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Frank Park, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that judge Frank Park volunteered to provide 100 "fat possums" captured from the wilds of his county for a "Possum and 'Taters" dinner honoring president-elect William Howard Taft? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Frank Park. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Frank Park), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Roswell Historic District[edit]

Hi, glad to see your having contributing photo(s) for Barrington Hall (Roswell, Georgia) a long time ago, and your continuing contributions in Wikipedia. It happens I am starting article on Roswell Historic District (Roswell, Georgia) (perhaps temporarily at Draft:Roswell Historic District (Roswell, Georgia)), and it would be great to have at least one photo for each of its 28 contributing properties. Could you possibly help with photos and/or editing of the article? Either way, glad you're involved in the larger project of building Wikipedia; keep up your good work! cheers, --Doncram (talk) 04:40, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
