Information icon Hello, I'm Coffee. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on JetsonMade, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 08:22, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I know you're new here, so just wanted to inform you that Twitter is not considered a reliable source. WP:RS/P states In most cases, Twitter accounts should only be cited if they are verified accounts or if the user's identity is confirmed in some way. As JetsonMade's Twitter account is not verified, any statement from that account cannot be determined to be his own actual words as a primary source. Could you please revert your changes in that regard until you can find a better source? If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you! Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 08:39, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wtmitchell How was that vandalism? I was just re-phrasing it better in an effort to improve the article. RodeoWrld (talk) 09:03, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You should disregard that message from User:Wtmitchell. I reviewed your edit and it was in no possible way vandalism, and have thus restored your edit. @Wtmitchell: I'm sure that was a mistake made in the quickness of Huggle editing, can you please slow down a tad? Thanks. Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 09:51, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing[edit]

Please see WP:V and WP:OR: we have to have sources for additions to the encyclopedia. Please let me know if you have any questions, you can just post {{Ping|Koavf}} and I'll see it here. Thanks. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 01:04, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Koavf: No disrespect, but instead of removing the song from the category, I'd hoped that you would've contributed instead and find some sources to "verify" that it's a TikTok song if you really don't see so. I've found a handful of sources here, here, here, and so fourth that describe Uno as a single that emerged from TikTok. Thank you. RodeoWrld (talk) 01:16, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
RodeoWrld, As you can see at WP:V (did you read it?) "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." You haven't provided that, so I am confused about why you are writing this. Additionally, Genius is not an acceptable source. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 01:24, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Koavf; Yes I read it, however I was saying that you haven't done the effort to resolve the issue, instead you just removed it. I've noticed that you were using a "gadget" to automate the categories, so you might've not noticed at first glance. I never added that category in the first place, but at least I tried to fix it. RodeoWrld (talk) 01:33, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
RodeoWrld, "you haven't done the effort to resolve the issue, instead you just removed it" Yes, that's correct. As WP:V states, "Any material lacking a reliable source directly supporting it may be removed and should not be restored without an inline citation to a reliable source." and ""I can NOT emphasize this enough. There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative 'I heard it somewhere' pseudo information is to be tagged with a 'needs a cite' tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, unless it can be sourced. This is true of all information, but it is particularly true of negative information about living persons." There are literally hundreds of thousands of unsourced claims on this site: there is no way that I can find the sources of every hoax, embellishment, lie, etc. on this site. It's not my responsibility to prove someone else's claim, so I removed that. I know that you are newer here than me, so I want to make it clear that I'm not frustrated with you as such but with the process and the mammoth amount of work it is just to remove all of the unverified claims on this site, let alone the orders of magnitude more work it would be for me to source any crackpot, kooky claim that someone thinks he heard somewhere and adds to this site. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 01:39, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Koavf; In regards to citations tag, I'm unaware of this unwritten bias on this site according to you (well now written since you mentioned it), but also I assume that it seems to be unbeknown to many editors on here. If there's a tag implying the need for some information to be sourced rather than be removed (If that info was actually accurate), I simply search it up and found the appropriate sources to support it. I don't know, maybe it's just me or a handful of editors that actually follow along with that, so I'd say I agree to disagree on that factor. Also, that Genius article wasn't user-generated, it was written as a featured article by a staff writer employed by Genius. According to the sources page you provided, content under that category falls under no consensus, however it doesn't imply that it is unreliable. Not to push your buttons, but I think I could say the same about you not reading that, since you saw the Genius website and automatically assumed it was user-generated, which is fair since you've probably seen it a lot on here, however I believe you shouldn't discredit sources so quickly (unless it's a definite unreliable source) before checking it first-hand, then determining it after. RodeoWrld (talk) 02:07, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
RodeoWrld, You're not at all pushing my buttons: you're trying to make the encyclopedia better and I totally respect the fact that you're willing to put forth free labor to do that. Per your explanation, I think this is probably an okay source to use to verify that this is a "TikTok song" but better still would be an unambiguously reliable source. Thanks again and let me know if I can help. I appreciate your thoughtful responses. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 02:14, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy hello. I see you have been reverting to a version of RMR that has his supposed real name. But the sources provided were hardly even sources, and certainly do not meet the requirements of WP:BLP. To make such a bold claim would require a respectable reliable source to back it up. Thus I have removed his supposed name until better sourcing is found. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 00:56, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:CaptainEek Hi, thanks for responding. However, I kindly disagree with your reasoning, and from a quick peek from your account, I don't think you are familiar when it comes to music sourcing. Allow me to quickly explain. The sources included weren't added by me, but I've examined them and they appear to be reliable sources because they come from legal music metadata databases. BMI is an performing rights organization (PRO) used by thousands of artists and record labels to collect revenue generated by their work and pay out to people (artists/songwriters/producers/etc) involved in a song. This shows the songs currently registered in their databases under RMR's legal name Patrick Juteh Geegbae, which more I'm sure there's more to come in the future as more songs get registered. There are other PROs such as ASCAP and couple others in the U.S., with PROs in different regions of the world in their respective country. The two songs listed in BMI are actual songs by the artist RMR, with the other producers credited as songwriters in their legal name appears on the songs. The other source listed refers to a legal trademark registered in Georgia (which equates to RMR's hometown). Since the trademark source appears to come from a third party website, I've gone one step further and link the actual trademark from the USPTO here. This makes the link between BMI and USPTO for his name to be Patrick Juteh Geegbae. Since RMR is actually registered with ASCAP instead too, I've searched his name in their database and found far more songs registered under his real name here, with the same two songs also appearing from BMI here as well. Only difference is that in ASCAP, they show up as RMR, but it's not hard to make the distinction. Hope this all helps as I'm looking forward to reinstating his legal name. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks. RodeoWrld (talk) 02:30, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This is original research in my view. How do we know Patrick is him? Could it not be his agent? A PR person? Rolling Stone could have easily done the same investigation you did, but they claim he remains unknown. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 02:34, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:CaptainEek Maybe Rolling Stone didn't know about BMI, ASCAP, etc or maybe didn't bother to do any more research on him. It can't possibly not be him because his name is listed on his own songs and his name owns his artist trademark RMR. However, I haven't added these sources, only reviewed them in an effort to improve the article. Not to mention, but I've noticed a couple other music related articles on Wikipedia that have used BMI as a source for music metadata. BMI is an official database that holds accurate info, nothing speculative because it's how artists involved are paid so it would have to be correct. Also another thing that they claim he remains "unknown" I believe is simply marketing for his image. RodeoWrld (talk) 02:43, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm away from PC at the moment, but I will raise the issue at WP:BLPN or perhaps WP:RSN for broader input. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 02:51, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:CaptainEek I guess we will see then. RodeoWrld (talk) 02:56, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do not replace covers without changing the source of the image[edit]

One of your main occupations here on Wikipedia appears to be replacing pre-existing cover artworks. This would be fine, except, for example, when you replaced the cover art of Me vs. Me, you did not cite a new URL for where you got the image from. You did not get it from the same Apple Music page, because there is not a still stickerless version of the cover there, and the cover is animated on that page anyway, so you clearly did not get it from a still frame. If you are editing these images to remove the Parental Advisory labels, stop immediately. We cannot accept edits that are made by editors. The cover must be commercially available without the warning. Until you cite a reliable source where you got the clear, stickerless version of that image from, it is not acceptable for inclusion on Wikipedia. Slow down your replacing of covers and start citing where you got your new versions from. Ss112 05:30, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please don't upload very similar images to an album's original cover if it has a deluxe edition. The deluxe version cover of Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon was very similar to the original and did not need to be uploaded. Please see WP:NFCC: Minimal differences between images can and should be explained in prose. Instead of uploading another copyrighted image, you can simply explain that it's a version of the original cover, this time with the rose being held by a bird that is flying away with it. There. I explained it without needing to upload another non-free image. Wikipedia is not a gallery of covers. If you refuse to continue needlessly replacing images without specifying where you got the new versions from and not leaving edit summaries explaining why they needed to be replaced, I guarantee you're going to run into more trouble while editing here. In summary:
  • Do not replace images without specifying why you replaced it.
  • Always specify the new web page you got the new image from. It must be a reliable website.
  • Do not edit images yourself to remove Parental Advisory warning stickers.
  • Start leaving edit summaries. In your last 500 edits, you appear not to have left a single one.
Thank you. Ss112 06:34, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
