What would you have us change the wording to? Saying something like "The Vikings finished 7–9 the previous season" removes all contextual connections to the current season. The whole point of the sentence is that we're trying to relate the two seasons and show how the team's fortunes change(d) year-to-year. I know it's obvious that each team is always trying to improve on their record from the previous season, but just because something is obvious doesn't mean we should totally avoid mentioning it. – PeeJay 10:28, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

- @PeeJay: I’m just gonna respond here I hate going back and forth between talkpages in a discussion. Fair point. Which brings me back to a different suggestion I provided, leave the improvement part out until the end of the season. Because by your reasoning “it's about providing a frame of reference for how successful this upcoming season will be compared to the last one”, if it’s about referencing the difference, why not just wait until after the season and put that in?--Rockchalk717 15:48, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
- An alternative wording could work if we found the right one, but my issue was with you deleting the info wholesale. If your problem was with the wording, you should have made an effort to copyedit the articles first, not just delete content you didn't like. – PeeJay 21:01, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
