your wiki-nazi templates[edit]

Regarding {{userbox:wiki-nazi-0}} {{userbox:wiki-nazi-1}}. I have deleted these as unnaccaptable attack templates. There are genuine disagreements over userboxes - but designing methods to call other wikipedians 'Nazis' is a breach of just about every wikipedian policy that there is. Do not recreate these, or I may well block you for disruption. --Doc ask? 00:17, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks for your e-mail. Given that, I am willing to assume a little more good faith, and see that these were intended only as humour. However, given the poisonous division in the community right now, it is not helpful to create what will be seen by many as partisan attack templates. Some people no doubt are comfortable being described as Nazis in humour, but some are not (it is rather taboo in the UK and Europe). WP:CIVIL means that we restrain how we address other users, and we show respect (this is not censorship, but decency). If you want to call yourself a Nazi on your user page - fair enough, but don't use the main wikipedia template space, and don't call otehr users Nazis. Futher, the factionalism and infighting over userboxes (deletionism and inclusionism) is damaging (I personally have been insulted and dismissed by a number of people today), different people can have different views on these things - and all views are valid. But creating 'bumper stickers' that divide and implicitly attack isn't helping to create an encyclopedia or a community. I lift my threat of blocking you, which was probably an over-reaction, however, I am asking you not to re-create these templates. Thanks. --Doc ask? 00:59, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
