Movie reviews[edit]

What does "Capsule review of the movie by William Robinson:" mean, and why are you putting it on several different articles? Are these your reviews, or are you copying them from someplace else? Rick K 06:25, Jan 24, 2005 (UTC)

William Robinson is my brother, I'm thinking of creating a separate username for him.

1-We don't sign our edits.

That's your decision. This is why some people mistrust Wikipedia because of the lack of provence as to who is responsible for an article. Are you ashamed to admit who wrote something? Many people who see the programs I have written are surprised to find I sign my code. I'm proud of what I do. So is my brother.

Further, at the bottom of the editing page one of the instructions says 'cite your sources.' So now you are saying I should not do what the very editing instructions say is critically important? O:)

Beyond this, it allows me to 'frame' a short review separate from the main text of a larger overview of a film so someone can get an idea of the film or understand it better. Consider the three versions release of a paper encyclopedia (who's name escapes me) that was released a few decades ago; a full-blown comprehensive multi-volume set, a shorter abridged set, and a one-volume very short overview of everything. This may be a start in going toward that direction. It is the sort of thing that might make Wikipedia more useful.

Arlington article[edit]

I have edited the Arlington County, Virginia article because I felt your recent addition about Fairfax County and Fairfax City was factually wrong and (unintentionally I am sure) would be misleading. Google Maps links[edit]

Is there a reason you've been adding Google Maps links to articles for locations? {{coor d}} exists to give a link to not just a map site that won't work in all browsers but also others. Google Maps doesn't work in K-Meleon, a modern browser. I'm not sure what you mean about {{coor d}} being ugly - see Lehigh and New England Railroad#Lehigh and New England Railroad: 1895-1961 for an example of its use. --SPUI (talk) 17:54, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You see those numbers in the URL, like in http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Philadelphia,+Pennsylvania&ll=39.889719,-75.159531&spn=0.118620,0.180038&hl=en ? Those are the latitude and longitude. So instead of adding the Google Maps links, please use {{Coor|39.889719_N_75.159531_W|map}}, which produces {{Coor|39.889719_N_75.159531_W|map}}. chemistry category[edit]

Hi, I notice that you are moving a lot of articles into the chemistry category. Just to let you know: a lot of people busy themselves recategorizing articles to more specific categories and out of general categories such as chemistry. V8rik 22:34, 6 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In response to your response on V8rik's page- I can accept your point about classifying things in several ways. However we cannot have every chemistry-related article categorised under "chemistry"- this would run to several thousand articles. This is like listing every historical figure as "category history", it is just way too broad. However if you do find any stray new chemistry articles that are completely uncategorised, I agree it is helpful just to stick it under chemistry so we are aware of it, the chemists will classify it properly later. Jumping the gun[edit]

Please refrain from listing the Supreme Court composition tables to have the most recent composition list be dated ending in 2005. We do not actually know that the Supreme Court composition will change in 2005. Roberts could be successfully borked. He could die in a car accident and have his successor borked. Until the confirmation actually occurs and O'Connor actually leaves the court, please refrain from making the change prematurely.

Disambig for Area code 212[edit]

Obviously the page only has only one possible disambiguation. Nonetheless, it seems to me to be a fundamental error that an area code for Manhattan should be the treated as if it were the same thing as one in Istanbul, as they are simply not the same area code and should be discussed as separate entities, and it feels wrong to do that on one article. Georgia Ave map[edit]

Thanks for your image of GA Ave. It's very useful but it appears that your map shows the street going south all the way to Constitution Ave, or at least through downtown. It actually goes no further south than Florida Ave. (On your map, that would be near the top of the "W" in "Washington".) FIPS Place Code articles[edit]

Anything over about 32kb is inadvisable for Wikipedia articles because not everyone has ADSL to access the Internet and lower bandwidths will struggle with large pages. I have seen you uploading articles today of over 500kb. See Wikipedia:How to use tables to find out how to convert those html tables into wiki-tables, and I would advise breaking the pages down into smaller sections if after conversion they are still too large. -- Francs 2000 12:42, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently my posting of the FIPS codes for various communities of the United States was considered to be (1) Not valid for an encyclopedia; (2) excessively long; (3) original material, none of which I agree with. Following the comments I decided to mark the damn pages for deletion since if people don't want my content then fine, I'll pull the damn stuff, I don't have the time or the energy to fight over it. So marking the pages for deletion, based on the statements that were made, caused my account to be blocked for vandalism! I can't win. I put pages in, they're considered "not appropriate", so rather than fight over what I think is unfair and wrong, I remove the unwanted pages, I get blocked for vandalism! You can't just blank articles here. There is process in place because once you submit anything to Wikipedia it is the property of the project and community. There's one of these templates per overlay? I see what you mean about the listing, but given they're also listed on that basis at List of North American area codes, an actual category of distinct articles seems to me preferable. - No articles should be in Template space. Note that it is easy to use an article as a "template" by simply putting the article name in the same kind of brackets, but with an added colon on the front of the article's name. Image categorization[edit]

I respectfully disagree. Putting images into categories can be useful for finding images which may be appropriate for some topics.

You might be interested in Wikicommons in that case, one of Wikipedia's sister projects. On Wikipedia you should be able to find the images by looking up the respective article. As Wikipedia is in not an image gallery (Wikicommons is) there should be no useful images which cannot be found this way. Images which are not used and have a free licnese should probably be moved to Wikicommons, unused images which are "fair use" should generally be deleted. —Ruud 22:13, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blue template[edit]

Area code 845 Map[edit]

The New Jersey area codes are incorrectly labeled--201/551 is Northeastern N.J. (roughly Bergen County, top right of the state), whereas 973/its overlay are to the left of this area. Area code articles[edit]

Paul - First off, thanks for apparently singlehandedly creating all the area code articles! I noticed that right now there is an article for Area codes 281, 713 & 832 as well as Area code 832, Area code 713, and Area code 281. It seems to me that the area codes that cover the same area should be kept combined in one article and the others should be changed to redirects. Each one of the articles, 832, 713 and 281 are simply one-line transclusion macros for the article containing all three. The reason for this is so that the article for 832 can have a link [[Category:Area codes in the United States|832]] and 281 can have the same link for 281. This can't be done with a redirect page (or at least, I don't think so). Otherwise, what happens is in the "Area codes in the United States" category, you'd get a link for 281, 713 and 832 instead of one link for each area code. When good tables go bad...[edit]

I came across this http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_counties_in_Connecticut&diff=48963702&oldid=45243451 while clicking on Random article. It's really really ugly. If it's going to be in a table (questionable per Wp:lists#Tables). Could you tidy it up (since I guess you applied the same table in other articles...) - I would suggest breaking the table into columns i.e. Name, FIPS code, Formed, Historic county seat, and merging the two tables together - and leaving out the state FIPS code entirely. New York State area codes[edit]

It seems that the set of images you have created for New York State area code coverages, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Area_code_347.png et al), incorrectly include Westchester and Nassau counties in the same region as the 4 outer boroughs of New York City. I am pretty sure those should be included in 914 and 516, respectively. Are the source images in such a format that you can easily change this?
