New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023

Hello Reading Beans/Archives/2023,

New Page Review queue April to June 2023

Backlog

Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.

Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.

Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.

Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Articles for deletion Favi

Good day @Reading Beans i consider you as one of the unbiased wikipedia editors i understand Favi was listed on Articles for deletion but the article was not written on any personal connection. i do not know the guy i just saw him on multiple news, newspapers and magazine publications that meet up with Nigerian wikipedia standards for notability and importance the article was written with some mistakes i understand i will try to remove any self promoting talk and i also added some additional citation from Sun Nigeria the voice of Nigeria. Another reason i wrote this article was because i understand that wikipedia is an unbiased platform i did my investigation because i knew i can not just Publish anything on here, i noticed that he is part of a new rising type of genre in Nigeria which is afro-Trap and is considered one of its many pioneers so those are the reason it was written i hope this few points of mine, helps you consider removing it from the articles for deletion category. Favi Request

Good day @Reading Beans i hope this finds you well.

On the Reason for Deletion of Favi you added the sources were not independent or do not meet up with wikipedia guidelines and standards for notability but all the citations used in the article are all part of the https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:NGRS&redirect=no sources for notability and importance so if those articles talk about him that makes him important i have a lot of respect for you because of the many projects you have done here on wikipedia so i urge you to look at the matter and you will see that all the articles used all meet up with Wikipedia:WikiProject Nigeria/Nigerian sources sources for notability.

cheers from Ohis. Digitalageohio (talk) 20:42, 21 June 2023 (UTC)

It needs more sources to establish notability : Draft Naomi Emeka Nwokolo

Hi, Reading Beans.

Thanks for showing concern about my article on Naomi Emeka Nwokolo and doing great work ensuring writers comply with Wikipedia Policies.

I received a message that you moved to draft this article reason that It needs more sources to establish notability

This article was written in february 2023 and I presented it for review on Live Help by the following editors @one|5969, @+Jeske|laptop, and @+geode I made all corrections live.

After the Live help, I submitted it for review between February and June 14th. @M2k~dewiki reviewed it and was moved to mainspace.

To establish notability, this article carries 12 citations from Independent sources.

I am not quite clear the exact lines needing more sources, if you could highlight the lines for me and I see to it, I will appreciate because honestly, I have received enormous review on this article.

Thanks for your time. Regards. Parlonany (talk) 07:12, 24 June 2023 (UTC)

@Parlonany, first of all, I am sorry for moving your article to draftspace, I should have nominated it for deletion as the sources I see there are not independent (interviews and advertorials). The sources there are only talking about the supposed UN Group and not about Naomi Emeka. I hope this helps. PS: If the article is accepted in its current state, I'll definitely nominate it for deletion. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 09:53, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
And so will I... Deb (talk) 16:02, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
