Distances from trichy[edit]

The distances from Trichy to various places mentioned aren't correct. Distance between Trichy and Chennai is 316 km and not 325 km. 325 km the distance via bye pass road. i.e., you have to go to to the southern part of the city and go eastwards and again take north. I myself, a tiruchian have seen the distance plates in many places. Also the distance between Trichy and Madurai is 128 km and not 160 km. That distance seems like raechung Madurai via Dindigul. Its not a direct route between Trichy and Madurai. NH 45B takes you to Madurai from Trichy with a distance of 128 km from the heart of Trichy.--Thalapathi 15:32, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GA nomination of Trichy[edit]

The GA nomination has failed as you said, but the reviewer has discussed few things to be corrected. --Thalapathi 03:15, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you remove the section Tourism and pilgrimage, You have said in edit summary that a seperate page is needed. Are u going t create a page for it. Also the economy section has to be expanded. Dude u have any data about provisional population results 2011 of various cities. --Thalapathi 05:16, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can the article be nominated for peer review. If not, what are the necessary improvements that has to be carried out. Pls let me know. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 11:01, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I added the source for the colloquial usage of the term "Trichy" since 12george1 (reviewer) mentioned that that particular quote has to be cited. He has cited the problems that has to be rectified in the page Talk:Tiruchirappalli/GA1 --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 13:32, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Great job! The older image wasn't good, but as you said earlier, it would be better if we have a montage like Chennai. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 11:40, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent!! The montage looks extremely nice!! As of now, I feel all major issues have been resolved. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 16:51, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the award. Since many books are copyrighted, I feel very difficult to find sources. As u mentioned that u're going to download books, pls let me know from where do you download it.--Thalapathi (Ping Back) 03:38, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, but I still feel this article deserves a B-class rating. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 14:15, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't sure whether a seperate template can be used for neighbourhoods for an ordinary city like trichy or not. Anyway excuse me for removing that section from Trichy Template. I wish you to revert it back and to nominate the templates which I created for deletion. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 12:43, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article states there are 39 govt+private schools in trichy. Just check the ref you provided. I guess 39 is too low. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 14:11, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Will copy edit probably tomorrow if that's OK.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:38, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Provisional population results[edit]

I came across the figures for 2011 provisional population on Trichy Portal. Is this a correct reference?--Thalapathi(Ping back) 14:33, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have requested a general copyedit from the Guild of Copy Editors. I will be doing one myself as part of the GAR process, but i would like to have someone non-familiar with the subject to do a copyedit before. Once the CE is done, i will begin the review.--Sodabottle (talk) 04:16, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ravi, i have started the review and have started adding comments. Take a look; If your online time is restricted, i will start fixing the issues once i finish the review --Sodabottle (talk) 12:01, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ravi, i have completed the review. Only inline referencing of 8 or 9 sentences remains. I am not familiar with those areas, so couldnt reference them myself. Please take care of them. Once they are referenced, i will promote to GA.--Sodabottle (talk) 07:05, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Award[edit]

What's wrong with you?? I've explained everything and even deleted that template and restored everything. You may be a great editor but that doesn't stop me. Regarding that award, I feel very comfortable now after u removed it from my talk page. Bye --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 11:01, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

* Why have you made this edit and this. What difference does it make if TDCL was established "in 1966" or "in the year 1966"? And why did you remove the space and add "&nbsp" instead.
* Why do you keep repeatedly adding census estimates for 2011 from non-governmental sites?
* Why did you affix the speedy tag to an article on an actress who has acted in 300 films, some of them with top film stars like Mammootty? I can accept it if the tag was added by someone outside India who knows like about the country. But for someone who lives in Tamil Nadu and watches Tamil movies, you should know or atleast make a Google search before tagging
* Lastly, did you have a look at this before tagging those two templates Template:Neighbourhoods and Suburbs of Tiruchirappalli and Template:Tiruchirappalli for deletion.
I suggest you plan what edits you want to make before editing them. Also, have a look at WP:AGF and don't speedy articles at random. It is considered improper to simply tag articles for deletion or make drastic unexplained changes to articles.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 11:32, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My Explanations: Well I carried out those edits in Tiruchirappalli as suggested by the Peer reviewer (tool). (1966 and nbsp both were suggested by that tool)

Eventhough its a govt. site, I feel the data provided in it is not a factual one. Just check, the data in that site was completely copied and pasted from List of most populous cities in India. But your edit says it as the population of metropolitan area. I am quite sure that you would knw the difference between a proper city and a metropolitan area. Its just a projection of world gazeteer and moreover Trichy doesn't have a metropolitan area. Th Urban Agglomeration of Trichy had a population of 866,354 in 2001 itself and am damn sure it wont be reduced to 0.819 million in 10 years.

I wasn't sure about the actress, yet it was my mistake. I've removed that tag once I came to knw about the actress. The main reason for tagging that article was I saw an article w/o any ref explaining about a non-notable person here, Sathya ganeshan and came to a wrong conclusion that this might be under category. Later on came to know that she has done a couple of films with Rajini and Kamal after a google search. If u would've looked at that article when it was created you might have got the same impression. It was written w/o any ref and contained lot of weasel words promoting the subject.

I've given enough explanations regarding those templates and told its completely my mistake as I created w/o consulting you. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 17:06, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's okay. :) As for worldgazetteer, though it used as a source in a number of articles, I feel that it is better to go by government sources. Also, I feel that the sections which need to be expanded are "Media", "History" and "Education". Apart from adding new citations, we need not touch "Demographics" or any other section at this time as it would create a hell-lot of problems.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 17:17, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

please note i am not leaving any opinion. just leaving a note to say i found the award revocation quite interesting. regards. --CarTick (talk) 17:26, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

Hi Ravi, its good that you removed certain images. Check out this image, it looks pretty good. I feel it can be used under transport section. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 06:22, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No. I cant find any images pertaining to Education and Economy in Commons. check out this Fb link as I'm not familiar with wikimedia commons. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 07:08, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Check out this image for NIT. It is the building of the administrative block of NITT. Is it okay? --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 04:13, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Book Sources[edit]

I have a small doubt on finding books in Internet. Since books sources are more reliable, I've decided to use such sources for most articles especially biographical ones. As most books aren't available in public domain, I find it very difficult. How about you, Do you buy books? --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 15:49, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sivaji Ganesan[edit]

May I knw from which edition of Filmfare magazine you got this picture of Sivaji Ganesan. I'm asking this since I'm in need of data pertaining to Filmfare Best Actor Award (Tamil) which is missing in the wikipage for many years. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 08:51, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thiruchirappalli[edit]

Well he's not actually a friend, because I don't know him personally. But I will advising him to stop linking the same terms more than once under the same section. However, does Rockfort Ucchi Pillayar Temple have to be italicized? Usually italics are used for names of artwork, books, news article names, etc. EelamStyleZ (talk) 17:20, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. I'll advise him on that too. EelamStyleZ (talk) 17:26, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
See, you have rights to discuss about my edits, not to judge my common sense. If you do so, it will not be fine. You never discuss anything with me; your edit summary looks so funny. Just check I've mention the "population growth was drastically reduced", and not the population. Also you mentioned the growth was low when compared to other cities as coimbatore. Here you mention just cbe, not more than one city. After committing such errors you are advising others to use their common sense. I'm advising you to stay away from me, unless you come up with sensible claim. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 03:38, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing harm in adding about Heavy Alloy Penetrator Project and OFT. Instead of adding stuff about some large scale industries, you add about cigars, tanneries, artificial diamond, etc., And also adding content like "Boxes of scotch whisky and photographic film smuggled from Sri Lanka are also available" isn't a good thing. If it is too long, you should have condensed it and copy-edited instead of edit-warring. Also what is the need of creating a new (see also) section and placing the same content which was already explained under the Econommy section. I guess you know the difference between a city proper and a metropolitan area, What was given in the site was only the city populaion. But you always specify it as the area of the metropolitan area. I suggest you take a look at articles, explaining the difference between the two. And of course, Govt. sites are reliable, but I feel the data specified in that website, is just a copy of what was mentioned in List of most populous cities in India. Just check it, it's a newly launched website. Also see Trichy corporation website, a so-called govt website has completely copy-pasted from the wiki page of Tiruchirappalli. You told world gazeteer, is not reliable, but the data in govt. website you specified was a copy from world gazeteer. Trichy is mainly known for its temples and tourist attractions, but you have removed all. Try to create a new section or a seperate page for temples and tourist spots alone. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 03:42, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, the section is about "Economy" not about "Industries". This being the case, even OFT and HAPP would not actually fit in. These govt-established ordnance units don't contribute to Trichy's economy in any way. By the way, as you might observe from the article, I'm added the Trichy corporation website only as a source for information about the municipal corporation itself. Nothing else. And data about the corporation has not been taken from the Wikipedia article. Well, I was the one who added the "Tourism" section and I was the one who removed it. You did not have any problem when I added the section, right. Such sections should be actually avoided in Wikipedia as they could be easily used for promotional stuff and vandalism.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 03:55, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Daily Thanthi Archives[edit]

Hi! I'm planning to expand Filmfare Best Actor Award (Tamil) article. As you can see, the data is missing completely before 1970. I guess the only source for finding data would probably be Daily Thanthi. I have the page of Kamal Haasan's life history which was published under "Varalatu Suvadugal" in 2008. I feel it's difficult to find the archives for DT. I doubt whether Daily Thanthi maintains it. I still feel if Filmfare awards were given before 1970, Sivaji Ganesan would've won atleast six or seven awards. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 09:41, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It might take some time as I am a bit busy now. I'll search and tell over the next week.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 14:31, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

KAPV Medical college[edit]

I don't know why you removed KAPV medical college. I feel, there is nothing wrong in mentioning about it, since it's a govt. medical college. It has a website, but not fully developed. I do agree that it's not a big college like MMC, CMC, or even Thanjavur and Madurai, yet it can be mentioned since it's the first medical college in trichy. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 09:43, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The link you provided as source is, itself, a dead link. When I visited the Wikipedia article for KAPV, I found that it that the link provided as the home page of the college website does not work at all. Now, having a website is not one of the mandatory criteria for notability, but it is one of the basic ones. Even colleges without any government recognition have websites of their own. This is being the case, it is simply not right to mention it along with premium institutions like NIT, IIM, etc.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 12:11, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You can mention KAPV if it is the first medical college in the city but you have to add appropriate sources to support your claim.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 12:25, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

BIM[edit]

Hi! you made a big mistake stating that Bharathidasan Institute of Management functions from Khajamalai campus of the university. My home is near Khajamalai and BIM is located at a distance of more than 25 km from the place which you mentioned. BIM is located inside BHEL campus. If you don't trust me you can confirm it thro' other sources. I'm saying this confidently, since I was born and brought up at Trichy and also recently I happen to attend the GDPI of BIM. Only Bharathidasan University has another campus at Khajamalai and the Law college is also at Khajamalai. --Thalapathi (Ping Back) 15:36, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
