Update to png[edit]

If you are going to update images with this bot, please change it to File:clipboard.svg instead of using a png file, thanks. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ ^τ _¢ 23:11, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not attributed at Commons[edit]

I am coming across repeated examples of images replaced at Commons without attribution to the source named on the Wikipedia original. I have reverted these as they pop up in my watchlist, but the bot should be checking for this before replacing. SpinningSpark 06:22, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that's good enough. The Commons file can be deleted for being improperly attributed leaving the Wikipedia articles with redlinks which a bot will then remove altogether. Non-admin editors will have no idea what has happened, or even that it happened at all. Where is the procedure that says the deleting admin is going to check attribution? The bot should check attribution before tagging the local copy for deletion. SpinningSpark 21:46, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Changed Atari ST picture for MSX2 picture[edit]

Hello, I reverted this [1] edit because your bot changed a screenshot of an atari ST that was meant as an example of the screen possibilities of an Atari ST for a (very similar, if not identical) picture that claims its made on an MSX2 system. If the description on Commons is different that is going to cause confusion to any reader who clicks through the image on Wikipedia. So yes, it is an issue, the description needs to agree with the article caption. SpinningSpark 21:50, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hydro-Québec logo[edit]

Along the same lines, it would be useful if the bot would check if the Commons image has been put into a deletion process before replacing, especially when the local image is fair use, and is subject to speedy deletion once it is removed from the article. Odd edit[edit]

What was the rationale for this action: [2] ? Now the local file has been deleted, and the commons file with a bogus license and a misleading name is up for deletion too? NVO (talk) 05:27, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is an extremely late question, but I would like to ask the same about this edit to Rheingau (wine region) on 14 June 2010. It changed (not "updated") the image to something which at least currently does not exist (is deleted?) and which, if the file name was representative, did not showed the same thing as that described in the image caption! Image replacements which require a new image caption should reasonably not be done with a bot! Tomas e (talk) 15:12, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
