Highlighted Yellow Text[edit]

Hi friend, how are you? I recently removed highlighted yellow text in COVID-19 pandemic in Syria, but you reverted the change[1].

Apologies for the mistake if I was wrong. I am not familiar with yellow highlighting in articles. Does it have a purpose I am not aware of? Thank you in advance. Gates of Ale (talk) 12:34, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

RamiPat, please take the time to review our Manual of Style concerning emphasis: MOS:EMPH. The best way to emphasise text is to use the {{em}} template. We do not use highlighting, bold or underlining to create emphasis, so I'd be grateful if you would please fix your mistakes in this edit: underlining is not okay.
Also, as this is the English Wikipedia, it's not a good idea to replace translated titles with non-English script. Thanks for your cooperation --RexxS (talk) 18:15, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello friends, I apologize for the mistake, I did not know that I should use another when I want to insert emphases. I did change my previously highlighted and underlined and used .... Please review that if you want and tell me about anything that might be wrong so I can learn for another time.

Also, RexxS, I can't remember writing any non-English script on the English wikipedia, please point out the place where you saw it so I can correct any mistakes. Thank you. RamiPat (talk) 18:30, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RamiPat, please don't apologise; you can't be expected to know all of our conventions and one of the advantages of working on Wikipedia is that you can learn as you go along. You've used the emphasis template correctly and I'm sure you'll remember that for the future.
The non-English script isn't really important. I noticed in this edit that you'd replaced a source that had an English translated title with one that has a title in Arabic. That's okay if there isn't an English translation available, but we'd obviously prefer an English version if you can find one. Anyway, that's nothing to worry about. Keep up the good work! --RexxS (talk) 22:59, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
