July 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but in this recent edit you removed a speedy deletion tag from File:SNSD 2.jpg, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Katieh5584 (talk) 19:36, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I think that calling them girls in English is correct. "女の子", "女子", and "女" can all be translated as "girl". And especially, as I said in the edit summary, considering the group's image. They are a "girl group", so calling them a "girl idol group" is just a good English-language term. Moscowconnection (talk) 15:12, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I understand. thank you. (considering the group's image, not each member's age...) Puramyun31 (talk) 15:27, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, thank you too. We are not really calling them "a bunch of onna no kos" ^^;, just a girl group. It's much more precise. A "female group" may mean any age and performing any kind of music. Moscowconnection (talk) 16:38, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi! I changed it to "idol girl group". It might not be technically correct but I find it to sound much better in English. And now that I think about it, technically, "female idol group" would be the most correct definition. so you are welcome to change it. :) Technically, you were right. :) Moscowconnection (talk) 13:25, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Was I right..? Thanks! and thank you for contributing AKB48 page. Puramyun31 (talk) 13:36, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, your definition is the most correct one. But I still think that "girl group" sounds better and nicer. And I've searched Internet for "female groups" and found all-female jazz bands etc. Let's leave it as "idol girl group" for a while. And then, if you don't like it, you're welcome to change it. Thank you too. :) Moscowconnection (talk) 14:04, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I can see you've already changed it. You are welcome. :) So you hated my definition, after all. :) Your definition is more correct. Thank you too for contributing to the page! Moscowconnection (talk) 14:15, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I searched the net a bit more and Japanese English-language newspapers seem to use "Girl idol group" or "All-girl idol group": Girl idol group about mass exposure, fans, All-boy 'idol' group to be formed in Osaka's Minami area. In Google News Search they are constantly called "girl group", "all-girl group" but never "female". "Female idol group" is used here on the MTV Asia website to define Wonder Girls, though: sunmi « MTVAsia.com Blog. So, after all, I think we should have left it as "girl idol group". I won't change it for now, though. Let's leave it for a couple of weeks or so. And then, if I still feel like it, I'll change it back. Moscowconnection (talk) 17:06, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh... I'm Sorry. I apologize my change without examination elaborately. Puramyun31 (talk) 22:17, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks... and I created a new AKB48-related TV show article, AKBINGO!. Puramyun31 (talk) 14:18, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Great! The more the better! You should always add references (sources), though. Otherwise, the article may be deleted. Read: Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources: "Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable, published sources" and so on... In short, there must be references in every article. :) Moscowconnection (talk) 07:24, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Maicching Machiko-sensei.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Maicching Machiko-sensei.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 11:05, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Could you clarify something for me. Is a photo of an artwork considered a violation of copyright? In this picture, Tyler Shields is standing in front of a picture of a camera. I'm guessing LG commissioned the work specifically for their display. If that's true, wouldn't LG own the copyright of that photo and wouldn't we be breaking the copyright by publishing it?--v/r - TP 14:13, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The photograph of the man holding the phone itself was released under an appropriate license, and the image is being used to illustrate the man. Therefore, I gave the image an aggressive crop, taking out the image in the background, and solving the problem. De minimis more than applies for the half a phone that remains. More information needed about File:Nodame Cantabile Japanese DVD volume 1 cover.jpg[edit]

Hello, Puramyun31!

It was really helpful of you to you to upload File:Nodame Cantabile Japanese DVD volume 1 cover.jpg. However, we need to properly format the image license information in order to keep and use new images.

AKB48 photo[edit]

AKB48 at Japan Expo in Paris, 2009

Hi! I don't like the image you chose for the infobox. I understand your choice since there are the most popular members present, but I think it's cropped poorly and the composition doesn't look good in the infobox. I think the article would benefit if we replaced it with the one from Japan Expo 2009. Moscowconnection (talk) 13:10, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So have we the better replacement of current 2009 section image? it's just that because I don't think the duplication of your infobox image and 2009 section image was good. --Puramyun31 (talk) 13:28, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

One these two, for example. Actually, I think that not many people read the history section, so the only important image is the one in the infobox.
Moscowconnection (talk) 14:10, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm..., Actually I think it's no matter whather current infobox image(taken in July 2010) is used or not, but also it's important to consider others' opinion. Puramyun31 (talk) 15:09, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.

77.31.71.153[edit]

The images probably aren't copyright violations. 77.31.71.153 was being used by User:Chace Watson who was evading his block.—Kww(talk) 06:28, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, if you receive messages from editors in the 77.31.*.* range asking you to change images (like the message above), you should ignore them. They are all Chace Watson.—Kww(talk) 06:30, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And 2.89.*.*. And 37.104.*.*. Looking over your page, it's obvious that Chace has been using you to evade his block. Don't do that. If anonymous editors ask you to change images, there's a reason that they aren't permitted to do it, and you shouldn't do it for them. Please understand that proxying for blocked editors is a blockable offense. You didn't know it was him before, so there's no problem with the ones you have already done. Now you know, so it would be a problem for you to continue.—Kww(talk) 06:35, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you add images because you want to add the images, that's fine. It's only doing it because Chace asked you to that's a problem.—Kww(talk) 14:20, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Infobox photos and recentism[edit]

Hi. I've been involved in lots of photo discussion on talk pages, and I'd like to ask your opinion on something, because I notice that you replaced the Clare Kramer image with one that was more recent, and figured you might have some insight into this. My question (or questions) are:

  1. Do you think that whether a subject's appearance has changed significantly should have anything to do with whether a more recent photo should be used?
  2. Also, how much more recent than the current photo should a newer one be, in your opinion, before replacement in justified?
  3. How much should photo quality factor into it? Should a more recent image be used, even if the previous one is of better quality?

Respond whenever you can; I hope I haven't impinged on your time too much. Thanks! Nightscream (talk) 22:13, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Mobile Suit Gundam AGE DVD volume 1 cover.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Mobile Suit Gundam AGE DVD volume 1 cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notice

The file File:Japanese gray uniform (moved from Commons).jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:IUP#Moral issues, demeaning picture of probable minors. Unused, so no reason to keep this.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
