A warm welcome

Nice to see experienced editors join the squadron. I hope to see you soon.

Hi, Picapica, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles that have been tagged for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, which can be fixed and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!

If you have any questions, feel free to post a question on the talk page.

And once again — Welcome! Okip (the new and improved Ikip) 08:54, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Year in Wales

Hi. I notice that someone's now replaced the Year in Wales template that you originally designed with Template:Year in Wales header. I don't have any particular objection to the new one, but it would be nice to have the views of people who actually contribute to these articles :-) What do you think? Deb (talk) 11:53, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Many thanks for the alert, Deb. I know what you mean about when "techies" (simply because it can be done, it sometimes seems) make wide-ranging changes of form to pages the content of which has nearly all been contributed by others -- especially since I have never really got my head round this "transclusion" business, which IMHO can terrorize innocent "lay" contributors! But in this case I do think the new template is very attractive, in fact, and therefore adds a lot of value to the Year in Wales pages (and User:BrownHairedGirl, whom I've come across in Ireland-related articles is very "Celtic-nation-friendly" too, in my experience... Anyway, thanks once again for the note. -- Picapica (talk) 08:33, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Umm, Deb, there wasn't actually a template beforehand, just an infobox coded individually in each article. I thought it better to centralise the code, to
  • reduce the risk of error
  • expand the infobox by allowing the inclusion of conditional links to other yyyy in country articles if they exist
  • standardise the categorisation of the articles
I didn't think that I was taking anything away from the existing infobox, just adding a little extra, and simplifying maintenance. No offence intended, and the design of the infobox can of course be changed if that's what editors want. In coding (though not in presentation) it is loosely on based on {{YearInIrelandNav}}, which as you can see if more graphic and has more links. ({{YearInPakistanNav}} was based on {{YearInIrelandNav}}, but is less graphic).
Adopting that sort of style would have been a radical departure from what went before, and I didn't want to make that sort of big change ... but if there is interest in developing the template in that way, I'd be happy to do the spadework on drafting someing for approval by the relevant wikiproject. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 12:32, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I think it looks fine - I just knew the amount of work you'd done on it and wanted to make sure you didn't mind. Deb (talk) 20:20, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Pobol y Cwm

Hello, I noticed you have been doing some edits of the Pobol y Cwm releated articles, which is really good as I think where the only two regular ediotrs of everything Pobol y Cwm! :) Anyways, I was wondering whether it would be a good thing to have chat about making some Pobol y Cwm articles, and making sure their articles are good like EastEnders ones, by the way how far back have you watched Pobol y Cwm because we could put some durations on the List of Pobol y Cwm characters to make it more professional.--AcidBrights (talk) 09:04, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Shw mae, AB! I'd be very happy to chat about PyC and its coverage on Wikipedia. So as not to make discussion too personal here, though, perhaps it would best if we first made contact via email (go to my user page and click on 'E-mail this user'). -- Picapica (talk) 12:42, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

I can't find it on your page, anyways, I was thinking we could consilidate our information and make some really good articles?--AcidBrights (talk) 08:41, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Not in the toolbox in the left-hand column headed by the Wikipedia logo?
Please be assured that I'm by no means against a collaboration (see in evidence my abortive blog at [1]. It's just that I think that some preliminary "offline chat" is probably in order. (The number of readers who'd want to be acquainted with the gestation period of our final, brilliant PyC-related explosion onto Wikipedia is probably very limited..!) -- Picapica (talk) 14:41, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I am a person from Germany. Possibly you can look on the discussion of the article: Audio theatre. with friendly greetings, Soenke --Soenke Rahn (talk) 23:10, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Copy of my answer of my discussion site: Thank you very much much. I suppose this is an interesting statement. So I placed a link on the discussion site of the audio theatre article to it and I answered there a little bit. Yes Christmas is comming, and I am sorry that this discussion goes up yet, but it was another German User which made pressure, I would say. )-: I placed on the simple english wikipedia the article http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_audio_dramas_in_English_speaking_countries I will enlarge it, step for step. And possibly it could help also. In the moment I use first a catalogue of the BBC of 1996/1997 (I have) and I will see which audio dramas I own and so on. ... I hope that you will have the article on yor watchlist and that you will help possibly later again in the discussion. --- In Flensburg we have a lot of snow in the moment and I must see in the next hour that I will go into the city center to buy the last gifts. (o: In the moment the sun is shining and in the evening the coldness will come again. --- So --- I wish you a merry Christmas, Sönke --Soenke Rahn (talk) 12:38, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Please if you have time, please look on the article again, somebody placed a erase discussion on it. )-: --Soenke Rahn (talk) 02:17, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Have added a "Keep (for now at least)" vote to the discussion. -- Picapica (talk) 19:25, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
