Hi Phr - nice pic! I've started a Shingle Oak page to have it on, but it would be best to try and confirm the identity before including it. Where is the tree located, and when was the pic taken? (if recently taken, it probably isn't Shingle Oak as that's deciduous and your tree looks to be evergreen). Can you try putting it through the Flora of North America oak key? - thanks and Happy New Year, MPF 18:20, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks; the close-up was very useful - I'm pretty close to 100% certain that it's Southern live oak (Quercus virginiana Flora N America page), the leaves and acorns match this well, and the main confusion species for this don't make such large trees with these very heavy branches. If not that, then still definitely one of the white oak group, and definitely not Shingle Oak, which is in the red oak group (the acorns of these are distinctly different). Southern Live Oak is usually evergreen, but if it was close to the path of one of the hurricanes, that could have stripped off a lot of the leaves (I heard the ones in New Orleans were totally defoliated but not otherwise harmed much) - MPF 23:38, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for resizeing the Bertinelli Pic, where can i set a german site to de.wikipedia.org??

CARTOONS[edit]

Showing the figures of Mohammed is disturbing muslims. And it is a insult to Islam. In Islam making and also looking the figures of Mohammed is forbidden. That is raping the holy things of Islam. And it is not about "freedom".PLEASE get back your sıgnature.Thanks.--Erdemsenol 00:48, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hyphen moves[edit]

Please don't do moves like on Hahn-Banach. And there is little point in writing on the talk page if you wait such a short time for comments. Charles Matthews 21:56, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CipherSaber[edit]

Nice work on the CipherSaber article. Is the observation that

the result is equivalent to using conventional RC4 starting with a key that's been preprocessed by a complex algorithm

original to you? It seems correct since you can achieve any starting permutation of RC4 with a suitable key... — ciphergoth 08:28, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I haven't seen that cs2 observation mentioned anywhere else but it seemed pretty straightforward based on the well-known rc4 property of being able to transform any starting permutation into an rc4 key. Phr 08:56, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anon vandal[edit]

I'm sorry, I didn't see that was an expired block; I went to the talk page of the vandal and saw a test5 blocked template and assumed someone already got him. I reverted my edits back to your version at WP:AIV. Thanks for telling me. Moe ε 20:06, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually upon looking, the IP has stopped vandalizing for now and I'm removing him. Feel free to readd him if he starts up again. Moe ε 20:09, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, but he isn't vandalizing right NOW. The AIV is for vandals that a repetative in vandalizing in the current time that warnings are issued. If he restarts in vandalizing today than readd him but until then just assume good faith. Moe ε 21:03, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I saw them. I also saw them 2 hours ago. Please just assme good faith and keep an eye on him. He's been inactive for a few hours so there's no need to block him this instant. Moe ε 21:07, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:AGF. I did not imply his edits were in good faith. I was saying for you to assume good faith and not worry about it. Moe ε 21:21, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Look again[edit]

Examine the diff more closely. That wasn't your report. · Katefan0(scribble)/poll 21:24, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyways, he is blocked by Katefan0. Moe ε 21:25, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see you placed the report up again -- even though I had already blocked it. Please try not to have such a hair trigger next time. It just so happens that I blocked the IP, but if I hadn't, that would've been at my discretion. Clogging up the page by listing it again is really disruptive, so please don't do that again. · Katefan0(scribble)/poll 21:26, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Chill out. Vandalism is an everyday thing on Wikipedia. It's not a big deal. Besides he only made two edits, it's nothing. Moe ε 21:29, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I thought you were going to be taciturn for a while but I guess I was wrong. I suggest taking a chill pill and relaxing. You sending out those messages, filling up talk pages with discussion and posting messages at WP:AIV was more of a distraction than the vandalism itself. If you think someone is vandalizing then send them a warning, don't automatically post it at WP:AIV. WP:COOL always applies. Try to remain as civil as you can please. Moe ε 21:59, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE:AGF and COOL[edit]

When I was refering to two edits, I was refering to edits made today, not over thier entire stay on Wikipedia. I said readd to WP:AIV if he restarted from the previous one's he already made today. There was no reason for you to keep readding it after he was not editing anymore. I only made one mistake in taking him off the list in the first place. The rest of the times I removed him were not by accident. Theres no reason to follow an vandal account once they are not editing anymore. I also suggest not leaving me anymore messages for a while because I'm starting to feel unpleasent towards you. Moe ε 22:27, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stop sending me messages. Moe ε 22:41, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I DON'T a response to this message because I still feel a little agressive about what happened but I want to let you know, I don't care about the previous incident and that you can come to me anytime you need anything. Moe ε 02:33, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
