Biodiversity

Thanks Sadko! I'm planning to run through all countries... they tend to have flora & fauna but not broader ecology, which deserves a paragraph. I see that Serbia does have a good section on its forests, though. It would be nice to have sentences on freshwater & marine ecoregions along with the terrestrial ones but their pages haven't been created yet. I've been making maps for forest integrity as well but those will likely be in the "Geography of..." articles as there's only so much space in the Country articles (though I think once IUCN finally maps the world's ecosystems it'll be worth having country ecosystem maps on every country article). Images make Wikipedia more informative, accessible, and professional.

In general, when working with images:

DO: Review the image style guide and use policy. Give context with captions and alt text. Try to find at least one image for each article. Find free images, or create and upload your own. Clean up images: crop, color-correct, etc. Use the best file format for each image. Use objects for scale where helpful. Place images in the section to which they are related

DON'T: Don't upload non-free images. Don't use images in place of tables or charts. Don't use images or galleries excessively. Don't add images that are not relevant. Don't flip faces, text, or works of art. Don't set fixed image sizes. Don't sandwich text between two images. Don't refer to images by their placement.

OK thanks... I was following India's style as it's a FA -- particularly India#Biodiversity -- but it seems they stray from the guidelines... is the problem mainly with WP:SANDWICH? PhnomPencil (talk) 06:33, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

OK yeah I see the images are pretty sparse... I've got another question... can you guide me on the use of tables in country pages? When a country has seven or less terrestrial ecoregions I've been listing them in a sentence. But more than that and it's obnoxious to write that way. Would a table be acceptable? Thanks. A real sentence is preferred as ped WP:Prose. To be honest charts normally get dumped to sub country articles like Demographics of Canada or Provinces and territories of Canada.... so best to write real sentences or someone will just delete it or move it. You are planning on using recognize systems of use?.....like Ecoregions of Canada.. as most countries have a specific classification system they use. Not sure there's really a need to list 15 to 20 regions in the country articles.....see Canada#Geography, biodiversity and climate...note how we save the list for Geography of Canada#Ecozones--Moxy 🍁 23:26, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello, I came across your map of the Forest Integrity Index while doing research on the matter. I'd be interested in using part of it (focused on Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle east) as part of a paper I am writing. A few questions:

1. Would it be possible to know the precise source of the data you used for the degree of "anthropogenic modification"?

2. Would you have a higher resolution version of the global map?

3. How should I cite it?
