Edit request[edit]

Dear Photo Submission Department,

Please let me know what I can do to improve this page. I’d love to help make sure these concepts related to Wikipedia are detailed as simply as possible while remaining comprehensive and precise. I’m very open to collaboration and excited to work with the community to contribute to the Wikipedia mission. I understand that my position creates a conflict of interest, so, in lieu of editing myself, I have posted it here in hopes to find another editor to help. From this prospective, following the guiding principles outlined for the proper procedures in evaluating donating one’s own source material, my research colleagues are asking (respectfully) that users edit the article for reliable tracking and encyclopedic relevance. As such, I have attached the photo that may be added to the article as the editor deems the appropriate manner. Kindly note, I can e-mail scanned copies to anyone who might want to see supplemental original source material.

Please let me know if you have questions about my purpose and efforts here. Ideally, I’d like someone to review what I’m suggesting, give feedback, and, once the draft is in good shape, move the new material to the live article. Because there is quite a bit of material out there that is not currently revealed in this entry, my principal objective is to provide more original source detail. I made sure to familiarize myself with Wikipedia's content policies before writing, and I tried to uphold an impartial point of view and use only certifiable, published sources.

If there are areas where editors think I can improve, please let me know if you can assist with this. Thank you for your valued consideration!

Sincerely yours,

Paul J. Coleman

This is very helpful.

Information icon Hello, Paulcoleman. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Breaking sticks (talk) 23:40, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Some time ago, this was in the article with references.

| nationality =  United States of America | height = 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) | weight = 163 lb (74 kg)

After COI purge this was deleted. An interested Wikipedia reader might like to view this with the corresponding image. I believe this detail, with this image (caption included) would add to the article. The other sailboats could be cropped out if the editors deemed them irrelevant. Please note, We are missing a big piece of history in the fact that sailing vessels today travel rather briskly through the water. If fellow editors see this as appropriate, it would be very insightful to reinstate these details with the matching image. Ideally, I’d like someone to review what I’m suggesting, give feedback, and, once the draft is in good shape, move this new material to the live article.

P.S. There is also a reference I can e-mail. Scanned copies are available to anyone who might want to see supplemental original source material. My principal objective is to provide more source detail. I made sure to familiarize myself with Wikipedia's content policies before writing. I tried to uphold an impartial point of view by using only certifiable, published sources.

1. please replace this version:

| classes = Soling, Etchells

2. with this version:

| classes = Maxi Class, Soling, Etchells, J/24, 470 (dinghy) Paulcoleman (talk) 00:16, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

The J/24 was also added to the list. The NYTimes lists three only, and all three are now in the article's infobox. Spintendo      06:02, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Coleman, as I've stated before, the usage of templates such as this one for making edit requests is for use on the article talk page, not your own user talk page. Additionally, and once again, it is not clear what changes you want to be made. You have stated that "If there are areas where editors think I can improve, please let me know if you can assist with this." This appears to be an open request for help of an unspecified nature. So long as requests such as this go unspecified and, to a greater degree, unheeded, it is doubtful how much more instructive any advice could be that you haven't already received. I stand ready to assist you with any specific requests which you may have in the future. Please do have a wonderful day. .spintendo) 03:17, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

{{edit COI}} Dear Spintendo‬ ,

Thank you for the magnificent job you are doing in expanding the Wikipedia mission. This contribution is perfect. My family and I are looking forward to serving on any Wikipedia committee to help make this mission a world-class success. Also, our foundation is now being made available to further support our editors.

Spintendo‬, your dedication really helps showcase Wikipedia's impressiveness. I just wanted to make sure you know how much we really appreciate all that you do. Also, I had a delightful conversation with other members of the Wikipedia community last weekend during our annual board meeting. They are so nice!

Have an awesome weekend! I look forward to catching up with you again. It will be great to learn more about the Wikipedia mission.
