3RR violation of Caribbean Medical University page[edit]

Dear PaddyM- It is my unfortunate duty to inform you that you have succeeded in contributing to violating the 3RR rule. You may want to stop all editing and review the 3 revert rule at WP:3RR. As you are clearly new to Wikipedia and editing, when there is a difference of opinion of editors in an article the proper place to discuss it is in the article's Talk page. You have not contributed to the discussion of this issue on the Talk page (tho you have chimed in on others) so it is mystifying why you have contributed to the three reverts. Your reverts to Caribbean Medical University[edit]

Please do not remove sources, linked, factual information which is pertinant to your claims that CMU is not registered. It is important that all information be sourced. Thank you. Bstone 06:16, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, I got an email from CMU saying they will be FAIMER listed "within 2 weeks". At this point, I believe the article reflects accurate information. Bstone 04:07, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just need to stress that it is important you for to not delete verified, pertinent information from an article. Thank you. Bstone 16:37, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for posting about the "boil advisory" thing. I don't know when that got into the article, but it's fairly embarrassing. Lately I've been trying to bone up the article, but I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention! --Fang Aili 說嗎? 03:41, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion Procedures[edit]

  • It's probably a good idea to put a justification on the talk page when you delete so much stuff. I do think that these things are notable, maybe not to you but to a significant amount of people. --Shawn 23:55, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: Time as money[edit]

Hey, cool! Someone actually reads my userpages!

Sadly, I've never found it. But, I promise that if I ever find out, I'll try and tell you. I've left myself a note to that effect, so that we can both be certain :). Thanks for the interest! And I definitely recommend Repent, Harlequin! and everything else by Ellison, so in the meantime you can take a look at that. Blackcap (talk) 05:06, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I loved the Phantom Tollbooth! Ah, Jesus, you're bringing me back... it's been ages since I read that. Good ol' Milo. I'm going to have to pick that up again. Volleyball revert[edit]

Hi. Could you explain your recent revert to the Volleyball article? The additions seemed mostly fine to me, so I don't understand why you reverted them as vandalism (as your edit summary implies). Cheers --Pak21 08:17, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DSHA Revert[edit]

How come you took out information on the DSHA page?

"The school was recently recognized by a prestigeous local institution as the number one day care in the nation."

I know it doesn't belong on the main information but could we make a criticisms section? Please clarify this with me.

And in the future please leave reasons for taking things out of articles on the talk page of that article. It makes it a lot easier for all of us. Puckmv 20:13, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that it is considered childish vadalism. However, can I put a section for criticisms of the school? Also a disclaimer that most of these are jokes? Puckmv 21:31, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

UW[edit]

Hello! If the University of Wisconsin (disambiguation) page is deleted, I would be willing to create redirects. However, the only article that actually links there is the University of Wisconsin-Madison article, other than a few usertalk pages and AfD. So, I'm not exactly sure what it is you want me to do? Lordmontu (talk) (contribs) 22:05, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again! User:Miaers and I seem to be having a "disagreement" over the placing of the University of Wisconsin-Madison template (Template:University of Wisconsin-Madison) on certain articles. See his talkpage and my talkpage for the details, and please comment on your opinion. Thanks! Lordmontu (talk) (contribs) 22:22, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! In the Big Ten Conference article, I saw that you recently changed the hyphen in UW-Madsion to a ndash;. Since the primary University of Wisconsin-Madison article uses a hypen, I changed it back to a hyphen. Just wanted to let you know in case you really want it to be a ndash. Lordmontu (talk) (contribs) 22:21, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
University of Wisconsin–Madison (ndash) redirects to University of Wisconsin-Madison (hyphen). Regardless of which one it is suposed to be, the Wikipedia article is at the version with the hyphen. Lordmontu (talk) (contribs) 23:43, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation of Indycar[edit]

Hi PaddyM. I've noticed that recently you've been disambiguating a lot of links to IndyCar. I've agreed with the most of the changes you've made, but I think when you disambiguate IndyCar to Open wheel car, it actually adds ambiguity. For me, the term "Indycar" signifies top-level American racecars, whereas "Open wheel race car" can mean anything from Formula 1 to karts, anywhere in the world. What do you think? DH85868993 02:19, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again PaddyM. I've added a note on the WP:AOWR discussion page describing your disambiguation activity (and my concern). It's their area of expertise, so if they're happy, I'm happy. DH85868993 02:12, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paddy. Yup, I'm familiar with Boydston, and had several good conversations with her. I'm glad you liked it there--a lot of people do, and I understand why. Me, not so much, but it wasn't a good fit for me. I'm an older student, and they're used to dealing with younger ones who are moldable. Additionally, I don't quite lean the way the department leans, and I didn't find a lot of people to relate to. I'm transferring out, but generally with no hard feelings. Have fun on your "break" this week! Madmaxmarchhare 15:08, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your revert on UW System talk page[edit]

This is to let you know that I'm disgusted by your posting of my discussion with Psantora onto the UW System talk page. The discussion happened on Psantora's talk page not on UW System. .. there are people still fanning these flames by giving a glimmer of hope and credibility to all of this. I think a full stop at this point would be a little more helpful because of the singular personality involved. But, <sigh>, I guess there is always the long-fought debate between intent and execution. Madmaxmarchhare 18:42, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your stalking behavior[edit]

I find it gross that you always stalk me and try to find some bone to pick with. User pager is not for any warning or message, which should be left on the talk page instead. Miaers 15:21, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Except that what you did was actually vandalism since you know better. UWMSports did not have a user-page, per se, and so OrangeMike left a message there which would be seen. Also, please notice that you reverted it after it was left there for a month, making it likely that UWMSports did not consider it vandalism. Please refrain from vandalizing my user-page in the future. Cheers, PaddyM 15:38, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He is new. He may not know it. Also please stop stalking and wasting my time. Miaers 15:41, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He/She would have removed it if they considered it vandalism. And, again, I'm not stalking you - I'm simply correcting mistakes when I find them. Cheers, PaddyM 15:48, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Farm Photo[edit]

Please stop adding irrelevant photo in the wisconsin article. The history section obviously is talking about the creation of the Republican party. Please stop deleting the picture. Miaers 21:31, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is not a photo of a diary farm. So it is irrelevant. The creation of Repulican Party is a unique event in Wisconsin as well as US history. It is more than appropriate to put the Republican Party birthplace photo in the history section. The politics section doesn't mention anything about the creation of Republican Party. The photo shouldn't be there. Also I only replaced an inpropriate photo, not insulting anyone. Could you explain why you are insulted? Miaers 14:22, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mud volleyball[edit]

Hello. You just removed a section on Mud volleyball from Volleyball variations for non-notability. I'm not sure I agree with the decision--do a google search for "mud volleyball" and you'll get quite a few hits. I'm not sure though...I'd be interested to know why you don't think it merits mention in the article. Rracecarr 21:12, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, after looking at the links, I am even more inclined to say that it is a non-notable version of volleyball. It's simply the same thing as volleyball (indoor/outdoor), played in mud. It also looks like it is only played during a fund-raiser. There is no national organization and it's not an actual variant of volleyball with a rules body and the like. Hope that helps. Cheers, PaddyM 22:32, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I tend to agree with you that it's not particularly notable. However, when I compare it to other variants that are listed, I'm not sure it's the least notable. For example, "mud volleyball" gets 100 times more google hits than "blind volleyball", which doesn't seem any more notable in any other respect. Rracecarr 22:39, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

Comments left on my talk page: "Miaers, if you're not willing to read the source that I have provided regarding Mr. Gansler's coaching career, then please do not delete it from the article. The reference link I provided will give you all the information you need, so please stop vandalizing the page and removing relevant information. Cheers, PaddyM 00:56, 16 July 2007 (UTC)"

You haven't provided any source so far and have reverted the template I placed twice. This is to warn you of the 3RR and please stop vandalizing. Miaers 15:44, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Again, I have provided the link with the source in the external links section. Since none of the other coaching positions "require" a citation, I don't believe that this one should either. However, in order to appease your zeal for removing his coaching position, I have provided the cite! Please check the source in order to verify that he did, indeed, coach for MUHS and it is fact.

Additionally, it is not a 3RR violation if I am adding verifiable content and citing the source to the page. Cheers, PaddyM 17:45, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fine, since you added a source. Miaers 20:57, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Blackbush whiskey and glass.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Blackbush whiskey and glass.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Blackbush whiskey and glass.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:19, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to St. George's University, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Thank you. Bstone 21:19, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, PaddyM. I have just seen the message you left for me on my talk page. You seem to think I am personally attacking you. I assure you, nothing could possibly be further from the truth. The template warning I left you is because you re-added a new section to the history of St George's Univ and that section has absolutely no cited sources, it is perhaps a synthesis of information and, in this editor's opinion, inappropriate for the article as it is currently written (and perhaps even at all). I have no nor would I ever personally attack you. Please understand that. Thank you and have a great day! Bstone 21:30, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making test edits in Wikipedia articles, such as those you made to St. George's University, even if your ultimate intention is to fix them. Such edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Please discuss on talk page before simply deleting. Thank you. CorHomo version that works[edit]

Go to Jjvaca's user page on Spanish Wikipedia for CorHomo 1.3.3, which I have been successfully using since July. The link to his page got moved into Archive 09 of the talk page for WP:DPL. I am using the .exe file, and it locks out premature clicking on an article, so the changed content no longer gets saved into the next article if you move too fast. If this is the version that you are already using, then I am not aware of the problems you are having. Happy editing! Chris the speller 18:04, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

University of Wisconsin[edit]

Do you think this IP problem is vandalism - worthy of a semi-protect? This is becoming what amounts to an edit war. master sonT - C 17:59, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have no problem with that. I think OrangeMike is a new admin, so maybe he would be willing to help us out. Cheers, PaddyM 18:12, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-Protection request submitted - and the last IP has a warning nowmaster sonT - C 18:27, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
the page has been fully protected: (see [1]) for details  — master sonT - C 18:34, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Rock on - hopefully that will deter any problems for awhile - maybe they'll even forget about it. Cheers, PaddyM 18:42, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Trinitylogo.PNG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Trinitylogo.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 03:03, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey - Thanks for the heads-up regarding the image. There is no article yet b/c I am currently writing it in my sandbox. It's not quite ready to be an actual article at the moment, but it definitely will be shortly. Can you tell me how to make sure the image isn't deleted before the article gets finished? Cheers, PaddyM (talk) 04:17, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not really. You could just re-upload it when you make the actual article. Melesse (talk) 05:07, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:UW medicalschool logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:UW medicalschool logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 02:21, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest[edit]

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:34, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
