AfD nomination of La Bayou[edit]

I have nominated La Bayou, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/La Bayou. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 06:58, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Western[edit]

Please don't remove references from articles. This is especially true when you replace information without providing citations. Also do not remove {{reflist}} tags and the associated heading since all articles should have citations. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:36, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Charlie Palmer (chef), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.chefsstory.com/thechefs_charlierpalmer.html. December 2008[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Fitzgeralds Casino and Hotel Las Vegas has been reverted. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: 'tripod\.com' (link(s): http://vegascountrytribute.tripod.com/) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Gaming statistics[edit]

I'm removing these links since they don't conform to the style guideline. External links should be about the main topic of the article. That link might be appropriate if we had an article on downtown gaming. Vegaswikian (talk) 06:47, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another option for that could be in the template for the downtown casinos if the contents are kept current. Vegaswikian (talk) 06:51, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I guess as a see also at the bottom of the template. I tried to use it as an image file, but that did not seem to work. Are you sure that this is updated on a regular basis? Also, when you start a discussion on a talk page, use the new section tab. That puts the discussion in the correct place and provides a clearer history entry. Speedy deletion of Hotspur Resorts[edit]

A tag has been placed on Hotspur Resorts requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Shanghai Maglev Train[edit]

Your additions to Shanghai Maglev Train sound an awful lot like WP:OR. Got any sources to back you up? Jpatokal (talk) 02:23, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the section to add sources about why they chose the name. I was able to quote the VP of Siemens about the corporate objectives when they won the contract. I remember that they did the project at a financial loss, but I couldn't find a source to verify the cost, so I removed that statement.Pacomartin (talk) 03:53, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I did find a comment that the German government contributed 200 million marks to the project (roughly US$92.5 million) at the time. The hope was to benefit German industry if they won the larger project.Pacomartin (talk) 04:25, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good. However, your comparisons to Heathrow Express and opinions about the cost effectiveness are still WP:SYNTH, unless you can source them to somebody doing the same comparison. Jpatokal (talk) 02:40, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Shuffle Master requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Beeblebrox (talk) 21:58, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Just so we're clear, I think this probably is a notable enough subject, but you copy/pasted material from their corporate website, which is marked at the bottom with a copyright notice, and you did not provide any reliable sources. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:02, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Shuffle Master[edit]

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Shuffle Master. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 15:10, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Arizona Charlie's Decatur[edit]

The article Arizona Charlie's Decatur has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:CORP

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Falcon8765 (talk) 00:54, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Boulder Strip gaming info[edit]

I feel all the info you've been putting into Boulder Highway concerning gaming revenue would be better suited in its own article, or an article about gaming revenue in the Las Vegas area. That article was created to be about the roadway and its surroundings, and is now outweighed by casino revenue statistics. A list of casino/resort attractions in the Boulder Highway article would still appropriate, and perhaps a brief mention of these stats may be in order also. --LJ (talk) 01:55, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another thing to consider about all these gaming revenue figures is that these will need regular updating. The stats may be current now, but such detailed information is likely to get outdated in the future if nobody feels the need to update it.
In addition, much of the information you have provided appears to be unsourced, which may be removed at a later date if not sourced. --LJ (talk) 02:01, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Here's the thing. You've got gaming revenue information on Boulder Highway, originally a road article. You've got gaming revenue information on the Laughlin, Nevada, an article about a town. I see you're also the creator and primary contributor to Downtown gaming Las Vegas, which is an article specific to the topic (although it needs renaming). Is there coverage for the Strip, or for locals' casinos in other areas of the Las Vegas area? What about other areas of the state, such as Reno-Sparks? The problem is that there is currently no uniform place a user can go to get this information, and that's not helpful for the end user. All such information should be at uniform article locations, so that it is easily accessible. I would suggest inquiring at WP:GAMBLING to see if similar information is presented for other locales, and to see how/where such information is presented. If there's no precedent, then discussion there might result in a standard. If that isn't helpful and your focus is simply Nevada or Las Vegas, try discussing at WP:NEVADA or WP:LAS (WP:Las Vegas) instead. In addition, there are MOS formatting issues with the way this is currently presented, and the information source(s) need to be cited.
If you want to discuss further, please reply on here on your talk page so the threading is preserved--I'll watch the page. Regards. --LJ (talk) 06:38, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It started off with an article about the downtown gaming which I created from scratch. Since I was getting inquiries from around the world, I added the gaming information to List of Las Vegas Strip hotels, which was a prexisting article that was little more than a table of hotels with opening dates. The article about the town of Laughlin seems stupid, because it's not much of a town, but collection of casinos with people who live there and work in the casinos. Sort of like Primm or Mesquite. Since you were more sensitive about the article being primarily about the road, I took all the gaming information and put it in a seperate article. It took hundreds of hours of research to re-organize all this information and get it into the right format. Even the head of the Nevada Gaming Commission was suprised that I was able to back out the information from their reports. It is essentially revealing information that the NGC are required by law not to reveal. They are not allowed to even tell reporters what are the 40 casinos in the strip. It seems like it would be easy to guess, but the licenses are not apparant to the public since two seperate casinos like Bally's and Paris can operate under one license.Pacomartin (talk) 08:17, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, so there is an interest in the information. Again, it's not typical for each location and can be confusing for the end user. For example, if I am reading List of Las Vegas Strip hotels, I would not expect to have to scroll down below all their gaming revenue information just to find the pure list. I think each area's gaming revenue information should be broken out into separate articles with uniform names, i.e. Gaming in downtown Las Vegas, Gaming on the Las Vegas Strip, Gaming in Laughlin, Gaming on the Boulder Strip, Gaming in Reno, etc. This uniformity makes things easier to find (complying with Wikipedia's general use of descriptive titles), sets up a convention to use (since one seemingly doesn't exist currently), and gives more latitude for expanding the content without overloading the content of an unrelated article.
As to other issues I see regarding WP:MOS and other concerns:
  • The tables and figures should have sources stated in them, so someone could verify these numbers or go get new information.
  • It seems many of the tables compare one area to another. I don't know that this is necessary.
  • The red and blue text does not seem to serve a useful purpose.
  • Casino licensees are in an apparent tabular format that should be formatted as a table.
  • Several instances of text in all-caps, which is against the MOS (see WP:ALLCAPS).
Please understand, I'm not trying to criticize your work or contributions. I realize that this has probably taken quite some time to compile and put together. I'm just voicing my opinions on how this information can be better compiled and presented so that it is more beneficial to the reader who would ultimately use it. Regards --LJ (talk) 21:33, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Point taken. It's probably true. I left out the comparisons originally, but they didn't seem to mean as much on their own. The blue text simply makes the tables easier to read, while preserving all the digits. The all caps was from the database provided by the NGC. I thought I cross references sources in several places as http://www.gaming.nv.gov/publications.htm. Pacomartin (talk) 23:26, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gaming revenue information[edit]

I have started a discussion about moving the gaming revenue information you've been compiling to uniform titles, as I mentioned in the section above. Please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Las Vegas#Gaming revenue information to discuss. --LJ (talk) 04:21, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with George V (descendant list). There is only one person who favors deletion of this article. I have followed other people's suggestions and added some more references. Who decides when the discussion is closed? I also am not aware of removing someone else's comments. I didn't even think that was possible. His objections and refusal to use a name are puzzling to me. How could information about the Windsor family be a joke? As there will most certainly be a major celebration at the 100th anniversary of the creation of the House of Windsor in 8 years, it is of general interest to know who is in the line of descent. I favor putting birthdays, death dates, generational data, and image data because people want to know this information. The image data in particular took quite a bit of research. A tag has been placed on Sparks Western Village requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

Relations of EIIR to other European monarchs[edit]

Since you duplicated the table outlining Elizabeth II's relations to other European monarchs at Royal intermarriage, I've added a link to it there from Ancestry of Elizabeth II, which is itself linked to Elizabeth II. If this still isn't satisfactory to you, I suggest you bring it up at a talk page somewhere rather than reverting again; you've reached your three revert limit for today and might be seen to be edit warring anyway. --Ħ MIESIANIACAL 01:43, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Hollywood Theaters, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://gohollywood.com/about-us/company-history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hollywood Theaters requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Upon a second look, the company may be notable enough for an article; certainly enough to pass A7. However, it is a clear copyright infringement right now; please wait until the article is deleted, then recreate it without the copyright infringement. If you do this, you shouldn't have any problem. You have reverted three times in less than 24 hours on House of Windsor. Please familiarise yourself with WP:3RR. DrKiernan (talk) 21:10, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have been reported to administrators for edit-warring here. DeCausa (talk) 21:49, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a short time for your disruption caused by edit warring by violation of the three-revert rule. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Kuru (talk) 18:07, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but the case made at WP:ANEW is compelling. You simply cannot continue to restore material reverted by others, even if you feel the changes are novel. I can see you're engaged on the article's talk page now, but the goal of our WP:EW policy is that you should conclude a discussion there before making any other changes to the actual article during a dispute. If you can indicate understanding of this policy, and pledge to abide by this in future dealings, this block can be removed. Kuru (talk) 18:07, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I will not change the article without seeking cocsensus or dispute resolution

Decline reason:

'Seeking' those things doesn't make it acceptable to edit=war. When your block expires, wait to make your desired changes until consensus is actually reached. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:05, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. House of Windsor[edit]

I've left replies on my Talk page and on the article Talk page (as has DrKiernan). As I say on the article talk page, I have no particular insight into the alternative views put forward by you and DrKiernan i.e. I am pretty much neutral. So long as you find a proper source and keep the edit to a reasonable length I have no objection to, and would support, the type of edit you want to make. Just make sure you reach agreement on the Talk page before putting anything forward in the article itself. DeCausa (talk) 22:19, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I do understand the policy about primary sources if you are using them to support wider research. But I fail to see how I was doing that in the statement below. The statements are purely factual, historical statements with no synthesis.

Dr Kiernan complained that it says that the Germans were British and not princes after 1917. But they were not British and they were still princes by virtue of their other titles. I don't think it says that at all:

On the day the House of Windsor was created there were 15 British princes and 23 princesses of the blood royal. By 28 March 1919 there were only 7 princes and 16 princesses without a single death as King George V and parliament used Titles Deprivation Act 1917 and Letters Patent issued on November 30, 1917 [1] which amended the rules governing the style of Prince and Princess signed by Queen Victoria on Jan 30, 1864. The new letters stated that the styles and titles to be borne by the Princes and Princesses of the Royal Family should be henceforth established defined and limited in manner..that the children of any Sovereign of these Realms and the children of the sons of any such Sovereign and the eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales shall have and at all times hold and enjoy the style title or attribute of Royal Highness with their titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their respective Christian names.

Look at each sentence one by one:

On the day the House of Windsor was created there were 15 British princes and 23 princesses of the blood royal.
Simple statement of fact. Completely irrefutable
By 28 March 1919 there were only 7 princes and 16 princesses without a single death
I didn't repeat the word British because it was repetitive. I didn't mean to imply that there were only 7 princes in the entire world (Germany, Russia, Denmark). I didn't say it because it was off topic, but by that date there were no German titles as they had all been banned by the new German Government as of 18 November 1918. So Dr Kiernan is wrong.

Where is the synthesis? I am simply citing the source in some detail because you keep asking for clarification. Pacomartin (talk) 23:02, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

(1)You have given the text of the Letters Patent as the source for the change in the number of Princes/Princesses: it is not a source for that. It does not, of course, mention the numbers you mention. (2)DrKiernan says that there is an implication is that the "Princes of the blood" (not a phrase used for the British royal family usually) were members of the House of Windsor. He is right - and you need a source for that which the Letters Patent isn't. Of course, this is the point which DrKiernan specifically refutes. Using the dates to say that is the case is syhthesis. (3) You need a source to say what the number of Pinces were in 1919. (4) And you need a source to say that the reduction was because of the Letters Patent and the Act - citing the Letters Patent is synthesis. DeCausa (talk) 23:30, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

cute http://diversitytomorrow.com/thread/789/10/ you can't insist on consensus which disagrees with the facts at hand. Famartin (talk) 05:44, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, that very decision you link to there about West Wendover mentions very specifically that observance of Mountain Time prior to the official transfer was strictly unofficial. That remains the status of Jackpot to this day. Famartin (talk) 06:34, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"There must be something official" you are so naive[edit]

You don't get it. This isn't a normal part of the United States. This area likes to thumb its nose at the Federal government, and the local Feds just go along with it because they know the locals don't like Feds and don't want to ruffle feathers any more than they are already perpetually ruffled. The facts are easily described as this: 1) Jackpot is legally defined by the Federal government to be in Pacific Time. 2) The locals just decided it was more convenient to go with Mountain Time, and the local Fed branches just went along with it. That's how things work out here more often than not, because the Feds are busy with other matters they consider more important (land jurisdiction, fire suppression, etc) to care about a few thousand people scattered around a couple of towns in northern Nevada which don't follow the "legal" time. In the grand scheme, they don't care. As noted in the link you posted about West Wendover's decision, they always followed Mountain Time unofficially there, and that's the exact same situation in Jackpot. The end. If you can find some actual legal documents that say otherwise, be my guest, but there is no evidence any such documentation exists. Famartin (talk) 19:29, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

PS - To your friend on your chat board who thinks time zones come under the state dominion because of the 10th Amendment: The Federal Government considers time zones to come under the umbrella of the Commerce Clause (regulation of commerce among the states), and hence considers it (the Federal Government) to have supreme authority. Famartin (talk) 19:40, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
PS PS - To your friend who thinks there can be two official time zones: Well, if you can find any Nevada state legislation regulating time zones, then he could possibly have a point, but again, I suspect strongly that it doesn't exist. Famartin (talk) 19:41, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
