New Mediawiki:shareupload template in Welsh

Hi Oren,

My name is Rhys, and I'm an admin on the Welsh Wicipedia. I noticed your edit on Gareth Wyn's page, and have a few questions.

1. I'm not that familiar with all the different licences etc, so what does this one replace + is there any explanations on the English Wikipedia/MediaWiki?

2. Can you point me to the original template in English for me to translate, as it appears you've used an on-line translator, which sadly gives an unreadable translation (translations for major languages are dodgy, ones for minority lesser-used languages are hopeless!).

While Gareth still seems to be active on the English Wikipedia, he sadly hasn't contributed to the Welsh Wicipedia for nearly two years. You can make general queries in Y Caffi (The Cafe, in case you hadn't guesses!)

Regards.

Hello Rhys!
the original mediawiki:sharedupload template is in here. As for the welsh parallel temple u can find it in cy:MediaWici:Sharedupload.
The template that i've given already in cy:Sgwrs Defnyddiwr:Gareth Wyn is meant to replace the current one as it is a horrible one which doesn't give a link to the original file place in Commons. hope it all helped you in your work. --Oren neu dag (talk) 23:41, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

re: luchot

BS"D

Dear Oren,

Thanks for making the image of the luchot.

May I suggest the following correction: the luchot are described ba'Torateinu as square... it is a popular misconception that the tablets were rounded at the top, (it even appears on the Torah covers in most Battei Kenesset!), based on Charles Heston in the film, the Ten Commandments.

For reasons of accuracy, it would be nice.

Thanks,

Fair use rationale for File:Nova Roma Flag.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Nova Roma Flag.svg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 02:18, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Kingdom of Sicily

It is better to leave the final date of its dissolution(1861). In 1860 after the overthrowing of spanish rule in Sicily, there was a referendum about the continuation of the area as Kingdom of Sicily or its unification with Italy. Naples and Sicily as Kingdom of the two sicilies had distinct authorities and parliaments. Each area had its own chamber, and its own legislation. I discussed this issue with an admin, and he told me to maintain the 1861 date as dissolution date, not 1816.--Alarichus (talk) 22:18, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Also Ferdinand while being King of the Two Sicilies maintained the titles for each kingdom separately(King of Naples, King of Sicily). --Alarichus (talk) 22:26, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

ok, thanks. --Oren neu dag (talk) 05:04, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Vichy coat of arms

Hi,

I saw that you had created this image :

as the coat of arms of the French State. I was just wondering about its exact use, and if it was actually used as the regime's official coat of arms. There is sometimes a bit of confusion, as for example the tricolor flag with the francisque was Philippe Pétain's personal standard, and not the regime's official flag (it used the plain tricolor flag instead). If you have actual evidence that it was France's official coat of arms during the Pétain period, it could be really useful. Thanks a lot, best regards, Jean-Jacques Georges (talk) 07:56, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

As far as I know, it is the official Coat of Arms of the French State. but u can know more by looking at http://www.annefrankguide.net/fr-FR/bronnenbank.asp?aid=88339 --Oren neu dag (talk) 12:25, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Hi, FYI, I checked and this coat of arms was actually Philippe Pétain's official and personal coat of arms as Chief of State, not the regime's official coat of arms. Yet, the francisque symbol was used on official documents as representing the French State itself, not just its leader ref. So I guess it can indeed be considered as the Vichy regime's unofficial (or semi-official) coat of arms. Best, Jean-Jacques Georges (talk) 08:20, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

hi

You should make a category of users who support a Russian monarchy.

A tag has been placed on User:Oren neu dag/my sandbox1/United States Civil Flag, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Sorry, but I think the old version is better, because the original PNG file isn't representative of the NBP flag. Could you change it, please? Vovanik (talk) 19:21, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

can you specify what change are you seeking? i didn't exactly got that. --Oren neu dag (talk) 20:42, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Flag of the Kingdom of Sicily

Hi, I would indicate two anomalies on this flag. I noticed that the eagles are oriented in the wrong way: both should be oriented toward the center of the shield (like here) and they should be little bigger. In addition, the gold edge of the strips should not be present. May you intervene to make these changes? I'm not capable :P
Thank you for your care --The White Lion (talk) 19:07, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Ten Commandments

Hello!

I feel somewhat weird leaving an anonymous post and am somewhat unfamiliar with the whole "online community" concept. I often frequent the pages on Jewish information and noticed that you have gone threw the pains of editing and constructing your own pair of Ten Commandments as a graphic. I don't know how to edit these sorts of images or if I have the right to even if I have the means. I felt like you would be the person to ask this question. Through reading various sources, I have come across the fact the the tablets are actually square and do not have rounded tops! Who knew? I guess I'm being one of those particularly picky, almost to the point of being petty individuals. I do feel very strongly though that it is important to make people aware of distortions and the origins of inaccuracies. I know you don't need a lecture, but I was just wondering if you felt that any sort of modification could be made to the graphic. Thanks for your help! 72.152.229.212 (talk) 03:05, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

I have constructed my own pair of Ten Commandments as a graphic designer?! Really?!?! when did that happen? --Oren neu dag (talk) 14:41, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Second message

I find it funny you said "before we get into it..." I didn't do this to be argumentative. I am one as well but for a much weirder reason. I am a micronationalist but I warn you that Wikipedia article is as god awful as the Bible one. Basically I had things really, really rough as a child without going into specifics and I just started fantasizing about starting a country because nobody would have power over me... then I went online and realized there were other people just as naive about the whole thing as I was, and when I started realizing how impossible the idea is I kind of meshed into the portion of micronationalism which is really just people setting up a forum, claiming to be a country and writing laws and such. But part of it is I am also very cynical about American nationalism and I am resentful that a nation that claims to value freedom didn't have laws that protected me. But I do tend to agree with the arguments in those documents just as well. BMSprint (talk) 21:28, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

INGSOC image use

Hello!

Are you the creator of the INGSOC image?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_INGSOC.svg

I would like to use a modified version for my local Vegan Society, the "Invercargill Vegan Society", changing the main V colour to green, and making it "INVSOC", I had the idea a couple days ago to change the INGSOC logo to INVSOC, and found this image while searching online. I've made a demo version which I've uploaded here to show you, I will delete it ASAP if asked.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jaywontdart/5623781085/sizes/l/in/photostream/

I would like permission to use this modified image for my new Vegan Society, which is effectively just me, and a few interested people at the moment. We will promote respect for all animals using creative, nonviolent education, such as my podcast, and pamphlets, and always speaking nicely with others.

The image would never be used for anything commercial, I'd like to make a stencil from it, I've been making some other very amateur stencils recently, on ammo tins, I like the bottom ones best:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jaywontdart/sets/72157625974485423/

I'd like to make a stencil of this "INVSOC" logo, and try something similar, to keep pamphlets in. Absolutely nothing commercial, or to make money, just as an image for myself really.

Would this be permitted?

Thank you very much for your time :-)

Old Flag of San Marino.svg

Hello. I saw you created the image with the old flag of San Marino (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Old_Flag_of_San_Marino.svg). I have a couple of questions. Was it an original work or did you find the information/image elsewhere on the net? Recently the "Secretary for Internal Affairs" published a note with an history of the sanmarinese flag, in which they said "Un documento d’archivio del 4 settembre 1465 dà notizie di una bandiera o stendardo formata a tre bande verticali, gialla e cremisi ai due lati e una banda bianca al centro" (www.interni.segreteria.sm/on-line/Home/documento25043647.html) Literally, they talk about a vertical tricolor of yellow, white and crimson. So, is your file in-correct or what else? Thank you, SoloTitano (talk) 17:21, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

My work on the sanmarinese flag was only in creating an SVS file based on the earlier PNG file (http://www.rbvex.it/sanmarino.html). As for the origin of the original creator... you should talk to them. happy holidays! --Oren neu dag (talk) 21:37, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
