I was going to put a message here saying I'd taken it. I've also taken a load more pictures of both Aylesbury stations, as well as a couple of Wolverton and several of MK Central. I'm planning a bit of a revamp of the MKC article, so you'll see that when it happens. I've edited Wolverton railway station to include a historical railways box for the Newport line. It's not on my watchlist ATM, my list being full of articles about tram systems and spaceflights to the point that it goes off the bottom of the page. Being an MK resident, I'm disappointed at the lack of articles or pictures about what is the second largest town/should-be city in Britain. I've already created Urban Eden and added a load of stuff to Central Milton Keynes, I've got Tall buildings in Milton Keynes and Transport in Milton Keynes coming next!!Tom walker (talk) 21:41, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Long time no see!
Just to let you know, how I am getting along :). I took a few months break from editing, back I'm back for now. Done a few map images which you can see on my userpage :). Anyway, as I was loading one up, I came across a problem which I couldn't fix: Bryher,_Isles_of_Scilly - I have tried to get rid of the big, empty box in the middle yet I failed. Seeing as you are the only person I really know around here, perhaps you could give me a hand :). It would be nice for it to disappear as it would be great if you could show me how to fix such a problem.
Oh, and name change.. was 'twentythree', now 'Bohemian Arcade', Much easier to type in XD.
Hi! I've tried to fix things, but I've had to remove an image (the church) and reformat the population column. The white space is also gone. You can play around, if you want in order to re-add the image.

Chiltern Railways
Hi - you just rolled back a contribution on Chiltern Railways I'd made which I think was harsh. The reason you gave, other than WP:TRIVIA (and I don't think it's trivia, certainly 70,000 English football fans don't think it's trivia, perhaps you don't like football?) is that the source was misleading. I think Associated Press are a pretty bona fide source, don't you? Anyway, how about this from the Daily Mail or this from the Times? I just thought your rollback of the comments I had carefully put together were rather harsh, and perhaps motivated more by your love of transport rather than the pursuit of fact. I was wondering whether you may reconsider it. I don't want to roll back your roll back as that would be pointless, so wanted you to give you an opportunity to rethink your harsh action. If hard work at keeping pages up to date are immediately rolled back by someone who simply doesn't like to see criticism on a subject they are fond of, then that is rather frustrating. Thank you. Turns out last week's newsletter was never sent out. Sorry about that! Since we already had it done, we are sending you both. This newsletter is the one for this week though. Anyway, we're seeing you guys working really hard. There are a few of you over 100 points in the first two weeks. Also, we have switched Ottava Rima from Pool D to Pool B, and Shoemaker's Holiday (who has withdrawn) from Pool B to Pool D. Scorpion0422 is more than likely to withdraw before this round ends, because he will be inactive next round. That would leave 2 contestants in Pool B. So, to make things fairly even, we have switched the two contestants. Sorry for all of the confusion!
Finally, we know it's very early, but you can already sign up for the 2010 WikiCup, here! We want to get everything ready way in advance for next year. So we opened the list up, and we'll start working things out in September/October, most likely. Information is all on the page, and you may leave any questions on the talk page. Hi Ollie, I am having a problem with two of my maps, in what is best called an 'editorial conflict' :S
There is this person: Man_vyi, who does not understand the being of my images of Guernsey or of Jersey. Hours after I added them to the pages he reverted both of them (and didn't tell me about it either.. :/). His reason being was that they were not accurate enough, that it wasn't informative and that the former image here was were the islands are located in relation to the UK and this has to be in thr article.. or something..
Well, I for one disagree with his comments because I think my images ARE accurate, they show CLEAR placenames and the show exactly what the user is looking for... the island! Not the whole of the UK!!! Instead, within the infobox is a map of the whole of the British Isles with a tiny tiny bit of the channel islands shaded in, so discrectly that you can't even see the 'dark green' colour.
Anyway, after I realised this yesterday I put my original Jersey image back in the infobox and moved the UK map to a very prominant place outside of the infobox, so it is still in the article anyway. Yet, he has reverted this again and said on my talk page that the file still isn't informative enough.'
I would be fine to change the map so that it included the other Channel Islands too, but I do not understand how my image isn't as accurate as one where you can't even see where Guernsey is.
I get annoyed when other wikipedians feel it is ok to 'bin' an image that, firstly, I have spent a long time producing, and secondly, that could even be placed somewhere else in the article so that it has some practical use. But to simply revert it AND not even tell me is, well, I think it's unfair ;). It seems like this editor makes many edits to the Guernsey and Jersey maps; it's almost as if he feels like he's the moderator of them. Another, more experienced editor reverted HIS edits just after he has reverted my images, so my views are not individually expressed.
Thankyou for listening to me comments Ollie and I hope you didn't mind my rant too much :P, but this really has me annoyed!
Hi. Out of the points Man vyi mentioned on the image talk pages, some are true and need to be corrected: town names and the bit about titles. The other points are less important. I'm not sure as to the question of accuracy. Maps of counties, such as Buckinghamshire do not seem to be sourced in any way. Maybe it would be better to ask at WikiProject UK geography, as they will know more than me. As for the question of map preference, I can't see anything wrong with the layout of Tresco, for example, which has the island map and a map of Cornwall. However, that raises more questions since the Channel Islands aren't part of the UK... It's very confusing!

For the DYK, check the Article updates, which should have links to the facts that were shown on the Wikipedia Main Page (they are generally on the articles' talk pages) and copy them to the Did you Know section. Otherwise, check the portal:London Transport/Did you know to see if anyone has added any new suggestions.
The from the editor section, comment on what has changed in the project and what you feel needs changing and also say about this edition or the newsletter generally, whatever you feel needs to be said or your opinions. I think this should focus more on you as a guest editor and the newsletter plus anything notable about the project but its up to you really as to what goes in here, this is a suggestion
The general section, comment on the assessment area and what has been promoted\demoted. Look at the article alerts and comment on different changes in the articles and pages related there. Maybe look at other areas of the project and comment on the changes, hence this being the general section. To help, look at previous editions (before Issue 13) and this help to clarify on what i suggest but again it is up to you.

I don't see why not add some yourself. From the history of Article Alerts, There have been in the past month or so DYKs for Battersea Bridge, Vauxhall Bridge, Dollis Brook Viaduct, Dollis Valley Greenwalk, Chelsea Bridge and Albert Bridge. General
It has certainly been a fantastic month for featured articles, with no less than three articles being promoted in June, Albert Bridge, London, Battersea Bridge and Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway. We would like to thank all the editors who worked so hard to get these articles where they are now. Richmond Bridge, London, which was promoted in May, was featured on the main page on 17 June. Chelsea Bridge has been nominated for featured status- I invite you to review or comment on the article here.
Concluding the news on featured articles, the List of London Underground stations article went through another featured list review. Fortunately, the list was able to keep its featured status.
The project gained two new members in June, Cɧrɩs and Trainzamania, bringing our total membership up to 71. We'll soon make it to 100!
As usual all suggestions to improving the metropolitan are welcome so if you have one we would be happy to hear from you.
This is my first time editing the newsletter, so I hope everything's alright. I've added a bit more colour to the assessment section so that GA and FA/FL stand out more. Any further improvements are welcome, so please comment on what could be done better. Suggestions for alterations to the layout of the newsletter will be appreciated.

What do you mean by "Huggle took to be a request for deletion"? Doesn't the user decide? Anyway, the user was in fact removing something in a different language (I think, although my computer doesn't support most of the characters used), and replacing it with English. Anyway, G7 only applies if the user either requests, or blanks the page (which is removing all content from a page), which they didn't do, as they did leave some content in the page. - Kingpin13 (talk) 15:36, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

There were a few mistakes in last weeks' newsletter. Apologies about that. In regards to the competition, a few of you shot up in points this week. Very, very impressive. However, now that some have shot up to the top, others of you have to work even harder to catch up! There are about 3 weeks left in the round, so if you're behind, now is really the time to start nominating content, so that it can count for this round. If you wait too long, we won't be able to hold off the round while your content is being reviewed.
Per this tiny poll, the remainder of the competition has been altered.. sorry!! The changes being made are as follows: "We will be combining the last three rounds. Round 4 will now last from August through September, with 8 contestants. On September 1st, however, we will eliminate the bottom four contestants. The top four contestants will continue the round with the same score. Then, one person will win out of the remaining four on September 30th." You can also see this change to the main WikiCup page.

Hello all, iMatthew here. I just wanted to let you know about "The Great Wikipedia Dramaout" which starts this Saturday. The goal of the Dramaout is to spend five days working on improving articles and abstaining from any of Wikipedia's drama. I don't think that any of you will have a problem focusing on articles for five days, because of course, any work you get done during the Dramaout will count towards your score in the WikiCup. Hi, not sure if you're watching my talk page or not, so I'm posting this on yours. Anyway, yes I do have a lot of rly books and maps (OS maps too); the list I have drawn up so far is just the tip of the iceberg. A general "Railways of Oxfordshire"/"... Berkshire" sounds good; but don't think I'm the right man for the job - you see I'm not really a prose man - I'm more given to lists of facts. Also things obviously wrong from all the above: Banbury Merton Street was down as LNER post grouping, and Winslow was down as Southern (both, of course, should have been LMS - I've fixed those).
[Incidentally: I've been to railway-related quiz nights, and a stock question is "which was the only LNER station in Oxfordshire?" I'll let you ponder that, because the question is wrong, before any wrong answers are given.]
Several stas seem to be in the wrong region category: my understanding is that these should accord with the post-1974 county lists in the region pages: East Midlands (Northants); South East England (Berks, Bucks, Oxon); South West England (Glos, Wilts) and West Midlands (region) (Warks) - so Aynho Park, being Northants, should be in East Midlands and not SW England.
I've not begun a general clean-up yet: I'm gathering info into a spreadsheet, to see what the majority opinion is on which items should be present.
The only article I've constructed from new is Iffley Halt, but have made significant additions to both Steventon and to Wantage Road.
I've got your talk page on my watchlist, but since we've moved here, shall we keep the discussion here?
I like lists as well, but sadly WP:MOS doesn't. Hmmm... an LNER station in Oxfordshire. Well, the great central main line was taken over by the LNER for a while, and I imagine all side arms were operated by the LNER... Banbury Merton Street? Yes - I've got the 'Add pages I edit to my watchlist' option set. Anyway, the standard answer is Finmere, which is true; but the LNER had two stations on Oxon - the other being Chalcombe Road Platform. I think the latter is usually forgotten because the village that it serves, Chacombe [note spelling variation], is in Northants. The county bdy ran (and still runs) between village and station. Chalcombe Road Platform was on the GCR branch from Woodford & Hinton to Banbury (Bridge Street, aka General) - the GWR station. Banbury Merton Street was Buckinghamshire Rly, then LNWR, then LMS. Strike the words "for a while" - the GCR was a LNER constituent. The LNER never had their own premises in Banbury, but shared with the GWR. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:47, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah- the same sort of thing existed at Leighton Buzzard, the station of that name being in Linslade which was in Bucks until 1965. Of course Leighton Buzzard has always been in Beds, but the branch diverting there was in Bucks as well as Beds. Strange situation! Also at Windsor, where the only SR line entered Bucks. They are necessary in some cases- through expereince I have met several users who never put user talk pages on watchlists, so they always need to be notified if the discussion is to be kept in one place (which I feel is better). Thanks for doing that with the Northants template. I only did that because I'm so close to Northamptonshire. I don't really know about doing the other counties. Greater London would be an interesting one!

I thought about it and experimented with different colours. I'm giving this colour scheme a few days trial to see what I think. In my opinion it's fairly readable- I really wanted a darker background but darker colours interfered with the headings and signatures. After the surge of new articles in June, July has been a quieter month with just one new featured article, Chelsea Bridge (well done again Iridescent), and one new good article, Charles Pearson. We therefore, currently have 10 Featured Articles, 1 Featured List and 10 Good Articles in the Project. Unfortunately, one former Good Article, Docklands Light Railway has been demoted to B-class. We have 110 B-class articles and it would nice to see some of those improved and taken through the Good Article review process - so come on guys, get those books out and get fact checking.

After the surge of new articles in June, July has been a quieter month with just one new featured article, Chelsea Bridge (well done again Iridescent), and one new good article, Charles Pearson. We therefore, currently have 10 Featured Articles, 1 Featured List and 10 Good Articles although two of thse are under reassessment. Unfortunately, one former Good Article, Docklands Light Railway was demoted to B-class in July and in early August this was followed by Jean Charles de Menezes. We have 90 B-class articles and it would nice to see some of those improved as suggested before.
However, overall assessment of articles appears to have dropped with 43% of articles now unasssessed for quality. Also, 35% of articles have no assessment or importance rating at all. This is quite an increase whereas it was only 1/4 at the start of the year.
On the Portal, the only active areas seem to be the voting and changing of the selected pictures and articles. The transport news seems to be infrequently updated with the most up-to-date news being in this newsletter!
As usual all suggestions to improving the Metropolitan are welcome so if you have one we would be happy to hear from you.
A major move request was done by MRSC, who has recently returned, at Talk:London Paddington station#Requested move. The move involves the format of names of many London stations. Please see the discussion.

Hi everyone! We're very sorry we didn't get this one out anytime sooner. We've all been pretty busy IRL. But down to business: Since the last newsletter, the first half of the round has ended. September has seen an increase in the number of articles as well as October. There was only the promotion Timeline of the London Underground to featured list status so congratulations to those involved. October so far has been eventful in other areas except for the assessment side.
On an assessment at the start of October the overall assessment showed that (and still is at the time of writing) there are 41% of articles have no assessment or importance rating at all.This seems to be getting worse compatred to to the start of the year when this figure was only at 25%.
On the Portal, the only active areas seem to be the voting and changing of the selected pictures and articles. The transport news seems to be infrequently updated with the most up-to-date news being in this newsletter!
As usual all suggestions to improving the Metropolitan are welcome so if you have one we would be happy to hear from you.
Tyw7 has contributed well to this edition with the addition of a gallery section which may be present in future editions as well as updating the transport news. Thank you for this.

Well, it was a long, long ride, with plenty of ups as well as downs (but I'm sure you'll agree, definitely more ups). It's been ten long months since our kick-off in January, and the level of competition has intensified so much so quickly. It's a wonder there was any puff left in our final eight by the end, but they fought to the death and, eventually, Durova pulled through, making her proficiency with FPs count as the contest drew to a close. Special mentions must go to the other members of the last four, Ottava Rima, Sasata and Theleftorium, all of whom put in a astonishing shift in their efforts to peel Durova away from her victory. Congratulations again!
The announcement of the ed17 as the newest judge to the WikiCup panel was made today - I wish him all the best in his new role.

However again there is not much to report other than the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway a candidate for promotion to Good Article whilst British Airways was promoted. September has seen an increase in the number of articles as well as October. October so far has been eventful in other areas except for the assessment side during the start but it has been relatively quiet also in November.

Blackwall Tunnel temporarily closed because a vehicle caught fire
A new ticket hall is installed at Kings Cross St Pancras station giving a 30 per cent increase in capacity with more entrances and escalators as well as lifts installed giving most of the remaining lines at this station step-free access for disabled passengers. The exception to this is the Northern Line with works still occurring until mid 2010.
New bridges installed at Limehouse station to provide easier interchange between DLR and National Rail services
A new campaign is launched warning Londoners of unbooked minicabs.
South Croydon railway station is to cut its power from the National Grid and instead have its CCTV and lighting powered by solar panels to be installed. This is part of an effort to go green and have a big cut in carbon emissions

Baker Street and Waterloo Railway was promoted to good article. Well done to DavidCane. This now also on as a candidate for featured article. Otherwise this month has been again fairly quiet. The portal went through a candidacy for featured portal with not much luck. The areas of the portal are becoming more active with the voting and changing of the selected pictures and articles. The transport news seems has started to be updated again but with the most up-to-date news being in this newsletter. Did you know is being improved.
As usual all suggestions to improving the Metropolitan are welcome so if you have one we would be happy to hear from you.

Upminster Bridge tube station was promoted to good article status in early February. Well done to all those involved. This is apparently the first tube station to be accepted as a Good Article.
All articles have been assessed of their quality with only some of the articles' importance to the project yet to be determined. Well done on the assessment.

Another issue to be addressed is, please could people indicate in the next month at the feedback page or on my talk page whether they still want to recieve issues of the metro. A lot of newsletters seem to be going to redundant pages. Simply south (talk) 20:05, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
