Proposal; how about we change the text to something more "fun"? I.e. Vandalism is futile - you will be blocked, or something in that vein. Thoughts? Master of Puppets That's hot. 22:46, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I really like it this way. It has the look of a warning label - on a bugspray can, maybe. Vandals, take that as you will... :Picaroon9288 03:40, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think this needs to be changed. "Vandals beware" won't stop any vandals and only provokes them to try to proove that they can defeat VandalProof.--Konstable 07:05, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've reverted your edit; until you can provide a source for your claim, I'm not inclined to change the template out of paranoia. No userbox is going to magically turn a potential contributor into a vandal; that's just silly. EVula 16:11, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's interesting that you did, because I made no edit.--Konstable 23:03, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I'm talking out of experience with my own user page. I had this version of it for a while. All it did was get a couple of vandals vandalise it (or my talk page, or on their talk page, can't remember) to claim that they are from the "Counter Wikipedia unit" that tries to defeat the "Counter vandalist unit". Hence my thought that VandalProof would work in the same way. And no I did not ever in my life touch the template, nor would I without some agreement first, so the person you reverted was not me.--Konstable 23:10, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, sorry, I came here to see if there was any discussion about the edit (done by Mets501), and saw your comment and made an immediate assumption (and as with so many things, that was the problem). My bad. EVula 04:43, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Funny this happens just as we're talking about provoking vandals. —Mets501 (talk) 21:32, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And another one.--Konstable 06:38, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting that neither vandal was a perfectly reasonable contributor who suddenly turned bad upon seeing this template. Just because the template has been vandalized doesn't mean that vandals are coming to Wikipedia to specifically edit these templates. Should we get rid of the hurricane tracker [1] and punk rock [2] templates, too? Expressing anything seems to be an equal lightning rod; perhaps we should just close down the whole damn wiki, just to be safe. EVula 15:16, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't be very sarcastic like that. We're just discussing things, this is not a life or death issue; just cool down :-) —Mets501 (talk) 21:11, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry![edit]

I accidentally screwed up this template when creating a vandalsniper version, and I think I've restored it to normal. Was anyone harmed? --AAA! (talkcontribs) 11:33, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't notice this until now (about 3 months later). I've repaired the histories. In the future, if you accidentally move a page you didn't mean to, please kindly move it back to spare us poor admins many headaches ;). AmiDaniel (talk) 00:00, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change of Icon[edit]

Just like to make a suggestion to change the icon image to SVG. Would make the display a lot clearer on most pages, there is already a good padlock icon Image:Padlock.svg or the modified one Image:VandalProof_Padlock.svg Richard Thompson (Talk! | Contribs) 11:49, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
