I cannot see what your problem seems to be: UKIP itself uses "UK Independence Party" [1], the Guardian uses "UK Independence Party" [2], Abedi and Lundberg use "UK Independence Party" in their article in Parliamentary Affairs [3], BBC uses "UK Independence Party" [4], [5], [6]... Do I have to go on? Please just accept it: it is their official name. And it would be OR to invent a full name which is not official. Kind regards --RJFF (talk) 10:28, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for being imprecise: "United Kingdom Independence Party" might be official, but "UK Independence Party" is by far the most common name (which the sources demonstrate), that should be used as the article's title per WP:UCN. I need your help with sourcing List of emperors of the Liao Dynasty

Hi there. I'm working on getting the Liao Dynasty to a better state, and this morning I just split off List of emperors of the Liao Dynasty into a new article. The source that seems to be used for the other dynasties' List of emperors articles is Boyang's Timeline of Chinese History. I can't track down a copy of that book, and I suspect that it is in Chinese, which means I wouldn't be able to read it either. Since you sourced List of Emperors of the Song Dynasty using that book, I was wondering if you might be able to do the same for the Liao Dynasty? Sven Manguard Wha? 20:04, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

P.S. The sourcing for the main Liao Dynasty article is also in poor shape. I have Imperial China 900-1800, a book on Women's rights in the Liao, and a book on Architecture during the Liao, but nothing otherwise. Anything you could do to help would be splendid. I've set up a page at User:Sven Manguard/Liao Dynasty with an outline of how I plan to restructure the page. Any suggestions you have would be welcome.

Will do as to sourcing on the emperors, but Liao is not part of my forte. I'll try to look at it when I get a chance, but I am already running into a bit of difficulty (e.g., when expanding Yelü Bei) with my relative unfamiliarity with the material. User:Arash Shah

user Arash Shah (talk · contribs) has added fake information to the Ma Fuxiang, Ma Hongkui, Ma Hongbin, Ma Bufang, Ma Qi, Ma Zhongying, Yihewani, and Ma Clique articles.

He has been switching the ethnicities from Hui on Ma Fuxiang and his family members to Dongxiang people without any source, and the ethnicities of Ma Bufang's family from hui to Salar people. He has also added racist material against Dongxiang and salar on the Dungan people article, accusing them of pretending to be Hui, but somebody, thank god, reverted his edits.

This guy is basically switching the ethnicity of anyone he considers to be unpleasant from his own (hui people) to other muslim groups in China (dongxiang and salar).

He also keeps on deleting the word "arab", and replacing it with "religious", and writes everywhere that Hui people originate from "persians, turkish, and jewish origin", but leaves out arab. He then suggested that the muslim brotherhood (terrorist organization) was responsible for replacing persian with arabic in hui communities in China.

On the Yihewani article, he falsely claimed that this religious organization in China is linked to the middle eastern Muslim Brotherhood just becasue they have the same name in Arabic. They are not related at all. The Yihewani was a religious movement founded in China in the 1800s by Ma Wanfu, the Middle eastern muslim brotherhood is an organization founded in 1928 by Hassan Al-banna, an Arab. Linking them is extremely libellious, considering that the muslim brotherhood is considered a terrorist group in countries like Syria, while the Yihewani was supported by the Kuomintang, he is suggesting that the KMT is a terrorist supporter.

Can you just do a blanked Revert on all of his edits on these articles?

He is basically adding racist stuff against Arabs, Dongxiang, Salar, Han chinese, while glorifying persian, jews, and uighurs.Blseki (talk) 19:19, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Since his edits were all at least three months old, there is really not much I can do mechanically, at least, to simply revert them. Warning him also appears pointless at this stage given that there had been no edits for months. I think that if you readd the information that he removed, there will be no one who will object to it. Tong Tekong

admin, for some weird reason Tong Tekong's article name is transliterated in Cantonese, despite the fact that he is from Anhui, and never lived, worked, nor studied in a cantonese area like Hong Kong. Can you move it to the proper Mandarin name? Or even delete the article, considering that most people have never heard of this guy?Sehidhen (talk) 20:01, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

And when you move it please delete the cantonese name and don't let it stay as a redirect, this is cantonese chauvanism, since we don't have the kejia, min, gan, or wu names serving as redirects for people who don't even speak those dialects. I'll look at it and move it if appropriate, but I think the Cantonese transliteration should stay as a redirect if the article is moved; it is a good idea to assist users (whether Cantonese-centric or not) to find the article correctly. --Nlu (talk) 20:07, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

After looking at it, I don't think a move to "Tang Degang" (for example) would be appropriate. See this link: [7]. While the link does not prove for sure that this was his own preferred spelling, it is fairly strong evidence that it is. If you want me to, I would be willing to move it to "Te-Kong Tong." (It should be noted that that spelling is not that far away from the Wade-Giles (although it still wouldn't be correct in Wade-Giles), and I think it is quite possible that he picked up this spelling while going through Hong Kong — as many people who fled mainland during the Chinese Civil War to a third country did.) I did a google search first on the main google site, then google scholar, then google books, more relevant results show up for "Tang Degang" than "Tong Te-kong". You can type it in google yourself and look at the results.Sehidhen (talk) 02:02, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

His own works were signed as "TK Tong," actually, based on the search. (See [8].) I think that settles the question, actually. Ancient Chinese history

Please fix up the articles on the Xia dynasty, Shang dynasty, and Zhou dynasty kings and battles. The lack of references and state of the articles (and total lack of articles on battles during the warring states) is atrocious. Most of the xia and shang kings have no references in their articles.

almost all of the Five Emperors except huangdi suffer from a gigantic lack of references.

Huangdi's family tree needs more names at Family tree of ancient Chinese emperors, and many of the links of xia dynasty kings in the tree apparently link to modern figures with the same name, and many others are redlinked.

According to Family tree of Confucius in the main line of descent, Confucius is a direct male line desecndant of the Shang dynasty kings. Can you look this up and add a reference because I never heard of this before.

And didn't some of the states that broke off from from the Zhou dynasty during the warring states have monarchs who were descended from the first zhou king when he divided the land into feudal dukedoms? They are not included in the tree.

And during the Shang dynasty, some of the feudal lords claimed descent from the original five emperors, and there is no information at all written about this in the articles on the emperors like Yao, Shun, and others, and no information about the ancestry of feudal lords during the Zhou dynasty, like the ancestor of the first Qin king for example.

I don't have access to the Bamboo annals, Sima Qian's Records of the Grand Historian, or any warring states era histories from which i could reference and expand these articles. You need to do it since you have all of this stuff for Tang and song history.

I know you edit mostly Tang and Song dynasty history but can you see that these minor Tang and song figures are of the least importance compared to all of the early kings and emperors, which are all tagged "unferenced" and uncited?Shendang (talk) 20:08, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

I'm planning to eventually go back to the really ancient kings/emperors and revise them, but probably not within the next few months. Right now, my own time is rather limited since I have a very busy work schedule and spend a lot of time on the road. But I do plan to eventually get back to them. (I do not have access to the Bamboo Annals either, actually, and any revisions of the articles currently will probably have to largely depend on the Records of the Grand Historian, which had its own reliability problems but is better than not being relied on. --Nlu (talk) 03:35, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Good question. Since the Dingling no longer exist as a separate ethnic group, we can't really ask them.  :-) :-( My opinion is that given we don't know for certain, the "primary" pronunciation of Zhai should be used.
