Breastfeeding Page Edits

I noticed you have changed my edit claiming that it is promotion. I disagree with you because I am defining what a lactation consultant is not promoting. Please note the distinction. The subheading is lactation consultant but there is no definition of consultant listed. I list what a lactation consultant is. If you are not familiar with the many distinctions of lactation professionals, I suggest you familiarize yourself with them before editing. You will discover that "lactation consultant" is vague. Using clarification of IBCLC is not promotion but education as to what a lactation consultant credentials should be. Otherwise the entire section of lactation consultant should be removed all together. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ReneeTucson (talkcontribs) 16:55, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello ReneeTucson, mentioning one organisation specifically that offers certifications does not represent the topic from a neutral point of view and in combination with only referencing to their own website is promotional.
Please also see the message and question MrOllie left on your talk page. – NJD-DE (talk) 17:32, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for the clarification. I will add additional reference to the scope of practice so that there is a distinction between IBCLC and a lactation consultant. The definition currently listed as to the scope of practice of a lactation consultant is incorrect as that is the scope of practice of a IBCLC not a lactation consultant. There is a difference. Board Certified consultants have the clinical scope of practice while a "lactation consultant" without certification scope of practice is to provide education not clinical services. So one or the other needs to be changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ReneeTucson (talkcontribs) 17:57, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

Jonastomalty (talk) 13:30, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

Jonas Tomalty: I wasn’t aware that I could not simply add links to my own profile. I in no way intended to go outside of the Wikipedia guidelines and disturb the process. I had no intention of trying to financially gain from any of these citations either. As an established artist of 25 years it is very important for me to have a reliable Wikipedia page as a primary source for fans and media. As you can see from my username I was not trying to be sneaky or hide my identity. I am Jonas Tomalty. I will permanently refrain from making any edits or contributions to my own page from now on. In return I ask you please remove all of these flags from my page so that established and reliable Wikipedia editors can freely contribute and so that when someone opens my page it comes across as completely legitimate. I thank you for taking my appeal into consideration.

Nuhu Muzaata Batte

Hello comrade, in regards to the suggested edits, the page was completely deleted without either drafting or giving a reason, at least i had worked on it, i request that they at least undelete and drafty as i and other experts work on it please. Ibitukirire (talk) 19:25, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Ibitukirire, Nuhu Muzaata Batte has been deleted by admin Liz. I can't help you retrieve that article. I don't think that draftifying would be an option here though, as drafts violating the copyright rules get speedy-deleted as well. – NJD-DE (talk) 19:32, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
Alright, by the time it was deleted, i had completely edited and corrected all the copyright infringement sentences, but let me contact admin Liz for further assistance. Ibitukirire (talk) 21:29, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Removing external link

Hi Njd-de, I'm Habeş Your effort is very important. However, in Turkey external link connection with the same content I added. One of the other links is also not working. I ask you to consider it again. Happy nights ( https://www.citycenterhotel.com.tr/blog/ )— Preceding unsigned comment added by Turkwebmaster (talkcontribs) 22:06, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello Habeş. Not sure what exactly you mean by However, in Turkey external link connection with the same content I added. I removed the link from CityCenter, as the place in Las Vegas has nothing to do with the hotel link. In combination with your username, one might have the impression that the link was added as an act of search engine optimisation. Due to Wikipedia using the no-follow attribute, most search engines disregard these links anyways. You can read more in the external links guideline here. Cheers, – NJD-DE (talk) 22:22, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello Comrade, i have made edits on Haruna Sentongo with great hope of remedying the article deletion, i am kindly requesting for your Expert Review and proposal of essential extra edits required. Thank you.Ibitukirire (talk) 03:23, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

My contribution about Marianna Muntianu

Hi,

saw you´re German so maybe we can talk in our mother tongue. If I´m mistaking please correct me.

Uta Nabert — Preceding unsigned comment added by UtaNabert (talkcontribs) 16:49, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello UtaNabert, I will reply to you in German, as others might wanna read the conversation, and in general English is the preferred language of communication on the English Wikipedia.
I know it can be challenging here in the beginning, and sometimes even frustrating. But you will know your way around after a while and enjoy spending time here.
I didn't mean to question the relevance of the article or Muntianu's notability. Based on a freelance profile, it appeared that you might have been paid by her to edit the Wikipedia article. This is let's say frowned upon and there's a policy about paid-editing (WP:PAID). But I understand now that you have a different motivation in writing that article. Thanks for the clarication. Schönen Abend, – NJD-DE (talk) 22:54, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Njd-de, wow, you helped me editing this article? That´s so kind. I never believed in postponing problems and trusting on they just diappear or solve themselves. Wiki shows me, this method works! Nice! Still tried to learn and understand what you changed. 1.) You some how mingled the cite numbers. No… ah, you summarized them when I used one cite for more than one paragraph. How did you do that? 2.) Did you change the WWF cite to make it a “full cite”? That´s so cool, I didn´t even understand they expect me to do. Now I understand. Am I ready now?

Best Uta — Preceding unsigned comment added by UtaNabert (talkcontribs) 17:30, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi, well sometimes that method works but more reliable is of course when you fix it yourself.
The cite numbers aren't stable numbers but will change whenever you make an edit that removes or includes a new citation. You got it, I summarized/combined the ones being used multiple times. There's different ways of achieving this depending on whether you use the visual editor or the wikitext edit mode. In visual editor in the small popup that appears when clicking the cite button, you will find a "re-use" tab with all references already being used in that article and you can simply click on one of them to also use it as a reference for that paragraph. There's also an approach on how to do it manually in wikitext mode which is explained at WP:REFNAME. A safe space for playing around with that would be your sandbox: Special:MyPage/sandbox.
The Full citation needed template just means that the paragraph can't be verified with the current citation as details are missing. In the WWF example, the file had more than a hundred pages if I remember right and I was not able to figure out where you had the information from. Simply saying the page number was missing. So in that case you can simply add the missing details to the existing citation and then remove the flag.
I am not that experienced in the draft review field of Wikipedia, so not the best person to ask whether the article is ready or not. My recommendation is to simply give it a shot, and resubmit your draft. A draft reviewer will come along and they will either move it to mainspace or leave their comments/recommendations. That might happen within few hours or in some cases take even four months. During the time until the next review you can still make changes and additions to the article though if you like. – NJD-DE (talk) 19:11, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the detailed information, Njd-de. That helped a lot! — Preceding unsigned comment added by UtaNabert (talkcontribs) 09:04, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Glad I could help you UtaNabert. Just small thing that others will appreciate a lot: Whenever making comments/posts on talk pages (not on articles), then please sign them. You can do this by simply adding for tildes at the end of the post like this ~~~~. They will be replaced with your username and timestamp. In the edit toolbar you can also click the button to achieve the same result. If you like to learn more, have a look at WP:SIGNATURE. Happy editing and enjoy your Sunday. – NJD-DE (talk) 09:31, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Anthony Mahowald

Hello,

This article is a grade for my cellular biology class. I am not trying to act like I own this page, but this is for a grade and I am including things that my professor told us to include.

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noahashley (talkcontribs) 21:06, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Noahashley, ok got it. You have done the right thing in reaching out to me and starting a conversation. Keep doing that rather than reverting other's edits that in case you disagree with someone's edit. For the case of names of relatives that are not notable themselves, your prof might be interested in reading the policy on biographies of living people, specifically WP:BLPNAME. Those names don't belong there, unless you would deem them notable enough for their own article.
Something else: I found some claims about Mahowald's achievements which I am sure are true, but some of the references used don't back them up exactly. Please use references that allow others to verify the statements in the article.
Last but not least: Keep up the good work & happy editing. – NJD-DE (talk) 21:15, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Aditya Kripalani‎

Hi, this is Anuradha. Yes. I had just finished adding the information and I was going to add citations after each paragraph. I have the reliale sources ready with me but before I could do that, Itwas removed by you. I'm new to wikipedia and still figuring my way around here. Could you please tell me how can I get my information Back? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anuradha A Pandey (talkcontribs) 14:56, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Anuradha A Pandey, usually you would be able to find your edits again in the article history. Please note that you should always provide references for your edits when making them, so that others can verify them. In this case I had to revert your edits again, as they appear to have been copy-pasted from a copyrighted website. Please have a look also at the message that I posted on your talk page which explains that topic further. – NJD-DE (talk) 18:12, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Can you please restore the edits or educate me on the relevant policy?

Hello, I saw that you removed most of the edits for the Organization page that my coworker and I have been editing. We are both members of the organization, thus why we are trying to expand our wikipedia page. While some edits were indeed uncited (for which i apologize), there were also a fair amount that WERE cited but were removed anyway. Could you please resolve the issue when you have time or let me know what we have been doing wrong? Thank you so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Crispychicken83 (talkcontribs) 21:45, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Crispychicken83, as a member of that organization you have a conflict of interest, please have a look at WP:COI. In this case it is advised to request edits to the article on the article talk page instead of editing the article directly.
When you say our wikipedia I need to slow you down. The article might be about the organization you represent, however it's not up to your organization to decide what is mentioned there. This is decided based on established guidelines and policies, such as that the information needs to be verifiable with reliable sources.
And that is also why I removed a lot: it was not sourced with independent, reliable sources. E.g. most statements were referenced with your own website, or a PR-agency link, or so unspecific like votesmart.org that it can't be verified. Some other references even failed verification, such as the reference about Jintao's visit to the US. It didn't mention the US-Asia institute at all.. – NJD-DE (talk) 23:05, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

External Link

Hello Njd-de, I received your message about the External link I added. I just wanted to say that the link I added was to the website called IMDb which is a website where you can watch shows and see the rating or etc of movies. The site is safe, the website is owned by Amazon (which we know is safe and protects all personal and financial information.) I hope this helps you out and let me know if I should add the link again. Anyways, thanks for still letting me know about it and I hope you have a great rest of your day.

Sincerely,

--TheTechnoWiki (talk) 21:48, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello TheTechnoWiki, external links should generally not be placed in the main body of the article. If it's a relevant link, they should be placed in the external links section. Please note however also that the guideline on external links explicitly says to keep the number of external links at a minimum. – NJD-DE (talk) 22:07, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
Hello Njd-de, thanks for letting me know about that. I’m sorry for the issue and I’m really glad you helped me out, I also wanted to ask you if it’s okay to add links at the top of the article or only in the External Links section below the article? Anyways thanks for helping me out and I hope we can be friends.
Sincerely,
--TheTechnoWiki (talk) 01:14, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
Hello Njd-de, I saw that you removed some external links from the article and from the External Links section below the article, I just wanted to say thank you because I went through the rules and basic info about external links and saw that you made the right changes to it and I am really grateful for it because I am really new to this and did not wanted to break any rules/ways of editing articles. I again, thank you for it.

COI, notability

Hi Njd-de, and thank you very much for your prompt help at Abid Ullah Jan. I have kept on file the template now, won't bother again with this question. I have applied the tag also for

  • Daniel Seaman, a professional "public diplomacy" person and a very corrosive one at that. Maybe you could take a look there, too?

As to Abid Ullah Jan: he took a stance in matters regarding Western perception and academic study of Islam, but everyone can take a stand, nothing seems to make him notable in that field other than being a Muslim himself. There is nothing really on his page: no professional qualification, no employed activity, not even a birthday for that matter. Only civic activity, which is nice, but...

  • Does Abid Ullah Jan fulfill the Wiki notability requirements? What is the tag that flags up that question? Thank you, Arminden (talk) 21:34, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
Hi Arminden. I noticed you added the COI-template to Daniel Seaman along with the edit summary rm promotional, large unsourced edits added by apparent COI editor. The rm is a wiki-abbreviation for "remove", so I would use it to mark edits where I removed such content. See here for more of these abbreviations (not an official guideline, just what many here use).
When adding the {{COI}} template you can just state that in the edit summary. When it's not obvious why you believe the article has been edited by such an editor, then it's best to either mention something in the edit summary or give an explanation on the article talk page.
I didn't read the Daniel Seaman article yet but based on the edit history of it, wasn't a clear case to me like the Abid Ullah Jan article.
The notability question is actually very valid though !! Had also wondered about that when cleaning the article but I don't know all the ins and outs of the notability guideline so didn't act upon it myself. You can use {{Notability}} to make others aware that you believe the subject of the article isn't notable. In some cases, this might lead to someone nominating the article for deletion, in some other cases that template may stay there for months or years.. – NJD-DE (talk) 21:53, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
Forgot to mention this: In case you have an article and you see that there's an ongoing issue with COI-editors, you could also consider reporting the article/the editors at the Conflict of interest noticeboard. This will often times result in a quicker action than just flagging it with {{COI}}. Before doing that though, please have a look at the top of the page to identify if it's the right venue for the issue and what to do exactly. – NJD-DE (talk) 22:11, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks again! As said, I'm not very knowledgeable in technical matters beyond what I need in actually editing in my fields of interest. Sometimes I bump into annoying cases of self-aggrandising and propaganda and then I need such help. I'll look into the pages you pointed out. Btw, I just found out a bit more about Mr Jan: he's writing about the "staged terror attacks of 9/11" blaming them on some Western conspiracy; this appears in a book that came out in what looks like a self-publishing house, "Pragmatic Publishing", Ottawa. Pragmatic indeed. He must be weeded out. Grateful for your help, have a great day! Arminden (talk) 23:02, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
Your efforts in trying to keep Wikipedia free from self-promotion are appreciated! There certainly won't be a place for him here to share such conspiracy theories. However, the phrase he must be weeded out is a bit excessive. There still is the neutral point of view policy, so in discussions might be better to avoid such phrase. Have a great day! – NJD-DE (talk) 00:15, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
You're right, I'll try to follow your advice, thanks. Arminden (talk) 11:41, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Why are my edits being undone?

Hello,

I have recently edited a page and it is getting removed for being biased or exhibiting "promotionalism", but I do not know the individual and have no reason to be biased or promote any sort of agenda. Why are you not suggesting changes or editing it rather than deleting all of the information?

Wikipedia states:

"As a general rule, do not remove sourced information from the encyclopedia solely on the grounds that it seems biased. Instead, try to rewrite the passage or section to achieve a more neutral tone. Biased information can usually be balanced with material cited to other sources to produce a more neutral perspective, so such problems should be fixed when possible through the normal editing process. Remove material only where you have a good reason to believe it misinforms or misleads readers in ways that cannot be addressed by rewriting the passage. The sections below offer specific guidance on common problems."

I am not sure where I am misleading or misinforming as I am taking information from articles and writing it as neutrally as possible. Can you provide context? Or, point out specific instances in the content you have cut? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kykamkam (talkcontribs) 23:02, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Kykamkam,
thanks for reaching out to me. I noticed your attempt to declare that you are being paid for your contributions. Please note however that you should declare also who your client is (the person/organization ordering your services through Upwork), and not only that you receive the job via Upwork. Also, paid editors are are very strongly discouraged from directly editing affected articles (see WP:PAID and WP:COI).
These are some examples of promotional phrases:

Throughout his education, Morales continued to find his political voice.

Morales says, "Working people deserve economic dignity, regardless of their occupation. With higher wages, our people will have more 'spending power' which will help stimulate our local economy."

He also has an affinity for Spider-Man saying the Marvel character, “[Peter Parker] represents the working class,” Morales said in explaining his choice of the Spider-Man costume. “If you follow the comic, he’s usually poor and struggling. The average person can relate to him, and that’s what makes his story so beautiful.”

Wikipedia is not interested in what the subject of an article has to say. It is interested in what reliable, independent sources say about the subject.
As per the strong recommendations in the guidelines, please propose changes to the article on its talk page with the {{request edit}} template or by using the Edit Request Wizard. – NJD-DE (talk) 23:40, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Edits on Japanese clothing during the Meiji Period

Hi! I noticed you went ahead and completely changed my citations. I'm just a little confused as to why as there was no issue with what I did. I've edited a few other articles for classes, but this one I put more effort into and made sure the way I cited was fine. As such, the shortened citation style was a perfectly okay style according to the Wikipedia page, and easy to understand for readers and myself included as I've never seen the citation style you used. I followed the Meiji page for reference and threw in a reference list with the simplified version, so I'm just curious as to why it was changed. I realize there was an error where some I had some messy citations, but I wasn't quite finished editing as I still had more to input/change. Jevella (talk) 02:56, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Jevella, the shortened citation style is of course one of the multiple accepted citation styles. In the case of Japanese clothing during the Meiji period it appeared to me that it didn't have a consistent citation style, with the combination of shortened footnotes and full inline citations. I assumed you were already done as I didn't see any further edits by you on the article, so I unified the citation style with the inline page numbers. I realize that this confused you, and might have lead to inconveniences for which I'd like to say sorry. – NJD-DE (talk) 11:12, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the response! Yes, it was still definitely still a mess, haha (although I think it looks much better now.) Anyway, thanks for making a consistent citation style.Jevella (talk) 04:09, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi Njd-de. After reviewing your request and being surprised that you do not already have the permission, I have happily enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 02:27, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi ToBeFree, thanks for enabling rollback for my account. Even without it, one can do a lot, so I never felt like I was missing out on something. But I believe it will make reducing vandalism and spam easier, so thanks again. – NJD-DE (talk) 10:03, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Minor edits

Hi, Thanks for the friendly reminder. Believe it or now, had not actually realised that “minor edits” is a very specific notion defined by wiki rules. Sorry about that! I know I’ve been here for a while but still finding my way around the wiki way of doing things... Come to think of it, should really spend more time on figuring out the wiki rules and guidelines. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks, duly noted! Vanezi (talk) 10:56, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi Vanezi, no worries, we have all been there. There are quite a few guidelines and policies that have been developed over the years. I am here since two years I think, and every once in a while I still come across something that's new to me. So really don't worry about not knowing about all of them. Just be open for feedback and you'll be fine. Happy editing! – NJD-DE (talk) 11:04, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hello :@Njd-de: This is just a quick note to thank you for all your amazing edits in the article on the Logic of appropriateness. I have learned a lot from your changes, and I really appreciate that you invested so much time looking up all these references! All best, Socialsciencenerd (talk) 23:20, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Socialsciencenerd, glad that I could help. If you have any questions about the reference options I used, then let me know. – NJD-DE (talk) 23:38, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Njd-de, thanks for your reply and your willingness to answer questions. That's really kind of you. I do actually have one. At the moment, what you've done with the references looks like magic to me. Did you use a program to find all the DOI numbers and other bibliographical information? Or did you actually do it manually? I'm currently working on my second article, and I'd like to apply some of the lessons learned from the first article. Thanks for your time! Socialsciencenerd (talk) 08:10, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Socialsciencenerd, I searched these references with Google and Worldcat to either find DOI numbers or ISBN. With these, you can then easily create the references with Citoid in the visual editor: Wikipedia:VisualEditor/User_guide#Using_Citoid. Sometimes the fields like first or last name are not 100% correctly filled, but you can then change them. – NJD-DE (talk) 08:30, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Njd-de, Thank you so much for your quick reply. I had no idea about Citoid. This sounds like a really useful tool. Many thanks also for taking the trouble to look up all the references on Google and Worldcat. I really appreciate that. - Socialsciencenerd (talk) 09:35, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Njd-de, thank you again for your advice. Your suggestion to use Worldcat was particularly helpful. Can I ask you for a favor? For my next article, I have collected the DOI, ISBN, ISSN, and OCLC numbers and tried to compute the references accordingly. The trouble is: I simply can’t get my head around how you formatted the notes. Would you be willing and have the time to perform this magic on my new article, by any chance? (Provided that you are happy with the article, of course.) I would be very grateful for your help. If you are currently too busy, however, I would, of course, completely understand. All best, Socialsciencenerd (talk) 20:08, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Socialsciencenerd, you're welcome. Where did you end up getting stuck? If you have the draft somewhere (draft space, sandbox, ..) then will have a look at it, and try to give you a hint. – NJD-DE (talk) 20:34, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Njd-de, Thank you for your reply! I really appreciate your willingness to help. Thanks also for mentioning the sandbox. I didn't know that this can be used to work on a draft. Very useful. At the moment, the article isn't quite ready, I'm afraid. But I hope to be able to put a first draft in the sandbox by Monday. Thank you for your willingness to take a look at it! (It's not urgent, of course.) All best, Socialsciencenerd (talk) 23:07, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

The preferred space for drafts would be the draft space, but you can also start writing in your sandbox and then move it to the draft space. When writing in the sandbox, make sure you are not using the public one which is really just for test edits. Use your personal one at Special:MyPage/sandbox instead. – NJD-DE (talk) 23:41, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
Socialsciencenerd, sorry forgot to ping. – NJD-DE (talk) 23:46, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Njd-de, Thanks for your advice! I managed to make some progress on the draft article yesterday. I couldn't find the draft space, so I ended up using my sandbox (User:Socialsciencenerd/sandbox). Many thanks again for your willingness to take a look at it. I would be grateful for any advice that you may have - both about the article's form and its substance. On a different note, can I ask if it is actually appropriate according to Wikipedia norms to invite other Wikipedians to collaborate on possible future articles, as I would like to do in my text for the article's Talk Page? - Thank you for your time! All best, Socialsciencenerd (talk) 10:39, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello Socialsciencenerd, an easy way to create new articles/drafts is by following the Wikipedia:Article wizard. If you like, I can move it from your sandbox to the draft space. There it's more likely that others will join and work on it. Asking others for help like you did there is completely fine. You could also ask for help at a related WikiProjects talk page. A thing that wouldn't be ok is to lure friends/family to Wikipedia to help you influence deletion discussions for example (see also WP:CANVASS). – NJD-DE (talk) 10:58, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi Njd-de, thank you so much for your quick reply! It would be fantastic if you could move the text into the draft space. Many thanks! Unfortunately, none of my family, friends, acquaintances, or colleagues are Wikipedians. So no risk there. One specific question I still have is how to program one and the same footnote for a source that is cited multiple times in an article. If you could give me any guidance on this, I would be very grateful. Thank you for your time. All best, Socialsciencenerd (talk) 15:40, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Done, you can find the draft at Draft:Emotional choice theory.
Ok, so let's take this reference for instance: <ref>Markwica, Robin (2018). ''Emotional Choices: How the Logic of Affect Shapes Coercive Diplomacy''. Oxford: Oxford University Press, ISBN 9780198794349, OCLC 1028637637.</ref>.
You would define it once and give it a name, like this for example:<ref name="MyReferenceName1">Markwica, Robin (2018). ''Emotional Choices: How the Logic of Affect Shapes Coercive Diplomacy''. Oxford: Oxford University Press, ISBN 9780198794349, OCLC 1028637637.</ref>.
And then wherever you like to re-use it, you just place <ref name="MyReferenceName1"/>.
If you liked the inline page numbers, then wherever you use the reference place the page number in the {{rp}} template, like this: <ref name="MyReferenceName1"/>{{rp|203–205}}
Example: First occurrence sentence.[1]: 10  Different sentence, different reference.[2]: 99  Another sentence where we need the first reference, but a different page.[1]: 203–204
  1. ^ a b Markwica, Robin (2018). Emotional Choices: How the Logic of Affect Shapes Coercive Diplomacy. Oxford: Oxford University Press, ISBN 9780198794349, OCLC 1028637637.
  2. ^ Parker, Peter (2010). Super Book. London: London Publishing.
There are other options as well, for example the short references. You can find the different options explained at WP:CITEPAGE. Only important thing is that the citation style should be consistent in an article (meaning don't mix multiple different ones in same article). Hope that helps and let me know if you have more questions. – NJD-DE (talk) 16:06, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello :@Njd-de:, Thank you very much for taking the trouble to explain everything so carefully! This sounds great and makes perfect sense. I will give it a try right away... Many thanks! Socialsciencenerd (talk) 16:13, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

You're welcome, Socialsciencenerd. – NJD-DE (talk) 16:18, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi Njd-de, this has worked really well! The article is looking MUCH better as a result. Thank you very much for your help! I'd be happy for others to contribute to the article. How long do you reckon should I wait before hitting the "Submit for review" button? Thank you again and all best, Socialsciencenerd (talk) 16:43, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Nice !! Hit that button whenever you think the draft is ready (enough). Worst that could happen is a reviewer declining it and giving you advice on what should be improved. So that might actually be helpful. And you then you could try submitting it again after making the proposed changes. – NJD-DE (talk) 17:03, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello :@Njd-de:, great! I'll give it a couple of days to see if anyone wants to add or change anything. Thank you again and enjoy your weekend! Socialsciencenerd (talk) 17:12, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Alright. I noticed you added a couple of wikilinks to other articles, which is great because it integrates the article within Wikipedia. Please note however that we shouldn't link the same articles multiple times, e.g. only link decision-making once in your draft (per MOS:REPEATLINK). Enjoy your weekend too! – NJD-DE (talk) 18:17, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi Njd-de, ah, thanks for explaining this. I'll correct this right away... All best, Socialsciencenerd (talk) 18:52, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi Njd-de, I have just seen that you have revamped all the references! They look absolutely amazing now. It's great that readers will be able to go directly to the sources via the links that you included. Thank you so much for all your help! Socialsciencenerd (talk) 21:46, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello Njd-de, good news! The piece on Emotional choice theory has been approved. :-) Thank you so much again for all your help with the article. Your magic improved it tremendously! I have also learned a lot from the changes and corrections you made. I will try and apply these lessons in the new piece that I'm currently working on. Many thanks again and have a great weekend! All best, Socialsciencenerd (talk) 11:05, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi Socialsciencenerd, I am so glad to see your article got accepted, and that I could help you along the way. Can't wait to see more of your work here!! Whenever you have a question in the future, please feel free to reach out to me again. – NJD-DE (talk) 21:08, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

About "Dictator" article

Hello Njd-de im sorry if you understood me wrong i am not trying to write articles with my own personal opinions Mustafa Kemal Atatürk wasn't a dictator to many sources and Abdulhamid II can't be considered a dictator either because he was a monarch. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pepe the fr09 (talkcontribs) 14:17, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

Removal of edits to Denis Law page

Hi Njd-de,

If possible I would like some help with my edits you removed from the Denis Law page. You described the edit as promotional. In the paragraph above another charity is mentioned, i.e. Football Aid. Can you tell me how I could make this more neutral and less promotional. If I provided a reference to an article in the Press and Journal newspaper, would this improve things? Is the language I used in the content not neutral and factual enough?

Thanks,

DCrossen (talk) 12:25, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi DCrossen. The wording of how you described the charity sounded promotional, especially as no reference to a reliable source was provided. Definitely a reference is needed. But even then words such as "award-winning" should be avoided. – NJD-DE (talk) 12:38, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
I could change the text as shown below. Is that more the kind of style required?
In 2012 Law established the Denis Law Legacy Trust, a registered charity that operates programmes and activities focussed around community engagement and widening sporting participation.[1] The charity aims to reduce instances of youth crime and anti-social behaviour; promote health and wellbeing and encourage inclusivity through sport, physical activity and creative endeavour [2] contributing to community projects like the Cruyff Court in Aberdeen.[3]
DCrossen (talk) 13:52, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
That looks much better already!! – NJD-DE (talk) 14:11, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I am a patroller, as per my knowledge, google Maps can be used as the Reliable source in this case, also as per RS list. Sonofstar (talk) 11:06, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello Sonofstar, I see you have been preliminarily granted that user-right two days ago. You are right that there may be cases where Google Maps can be used. However the perennial sources list clearly also says that other reliable sources are preferred.
Different thing: I am a bit baffled why you added a link to a directory of bank branches, and a newspaper report that mentions a "Char Krishanapur" which is in an entirely different area of Bangladesh. – NJD-DE (talk) 11:22, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
Yes, I agree for what you say but generally in case of villages I guess google map is good to use, because they don't have much covereage but regarding other sources I am fixing it, actually. Give me a moment.Sonofstar (talk) 11:26, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

My Homeland Egypt Party

I strongly objected to this by describing the amendments as promotion, but it is a correction of errors and updating data from an official documented source for the following reasons

First: Since these amendments are a correction of published errors, such as the date of the establishment of the party Second: There is an update of data, as the former party leader died and a new party leader was elected Third, these amendments are from the official website of the Egyptian government published on the parties, and there are no additions This is on the website of the Egyptian State Information Service affiliated to the Presidency of the Republic, which is the official state media organ Please publish this information so that Wikipedia does not continue to publish false data and data that is also irrelevant to reality Best Regards Dr. Mostafa Elsayed Sherbiny Secretary-General and Vice-President of My Country Egypt Party دكتور مصطفى الشربيني (talk) 12:39, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

We are not looking for texts such as this one here The party has witnessed a new development in its orientations in terms of adopting youth issues, and it has been a pioneer in the work of political upbringing programs for youth since October 2020, placing this at the forefront of the major parties due to the willingness of leaders to join it, and it is expected that it will have a major role in Egyptian politics, especially in the elections for councils.. Beep

Hi! Thanks for your edits to Beep. I want to try and create a page for the site as it is a news organisation currently without one. We have broken significant stories in the North East of England and need a Wiki page. How can I do this? Thanks ! Nellevictorialauren (talk) 22:15, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi Nellevictorialauren, I understand that you feel the need for having a Wikipedia article about your organization. However, your company must have already received significant coverage in independent and reliable sources to show that it meets the Wikipedia specific company notability guideline. After reviewing the paid editing policy and making the appropriate disclosures, you may then create a draft. Writing an article on Wikipedia can be a real challenge though. Especially when closely connected to the subject it might be frustrating, as Wikipedia is not interested in what you like to say about your company, but what others chose to say about it. In one simple phrase: Wikipedia is not the right place for PR. Hope this somewhat helps you, and please reach out to me again in case you have further questions. – NJD-DE (talk) 22:27, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
This is not PR either. Beep has been covered by significant organisations and referenced by them multiple times. It's also part of a well-known charitable organisation, so less of the 'not the place for PR' please. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nellevictorialauren (talkcontribs) 22:31, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
I didn't intend to say you want to use Wikipedia for PR. It's just rare to come across the 5% of people with pure intentions on writing an article about their organization. – NJD-DE (talk) 22:34, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

External links on Trinity

Trinity page: The external link to https://religionfacts.com/christianity/beliefs/trinity.htm is a 404 page and https://www.hillsandvalleys.church/article/what-is-the-trinity would be a good replacement for it as a reference for people.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Pedee (talkcontribs) 21:57, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello Pedee, external links should be kept to a minimum per the WP:EL-guideline. The article Trinity currently already has more than enough links. In case one of them is dead, it doesn't need replacement but could simply be removed. – NJD-DE (talk) 22:04, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Deletion of the update

Hey,

Can you specify the reason to revert the contribution? So, I can work upon it and improve. Surendrawat (talk) 17:37, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello Surendrawat, Wikipedia is not a place for promotion. You may then request edits on the article's talk page for neutral content that is sourced with independent, reliable source. – NJD-DE (talk) 17:46, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Please have a look at the instructions on that page, and then add your line in such a format at the end of the list: * {{vandal|Example user}} Your concise reason (e.g. vandalised past 4th warning). ~~~~. Tali Fahradian Weinstein

Hi, I just tried to edit this page but the edit was removed because of a lack of citations.

As things stand now, the page is extremely and deliberately misleading. It all but states that the Fahradian family fled TO the USA to avoid persecution (in Iran) but deliberately omits that the family was in Israel for almost a year before coming to the USA--under false pretences as I indicated.

There is no mention that the family, including Tania, was here illegally and received amnesty, and were NOT fleeing persecution because Israel is the eternal home of the Jewish people. Jews don't flee Israel to avoid persecution.

As the website is now, it is deliberately misleading, arguably factually incorrect, and at best, EXTREMELY nuanced to give a false impression. How can this be corrected?

Mgbrautigam (talk) 11:36, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi Mgbrautigam, do you have any reliable sources to corroborate this? You mentioned concerns about giving a false impression. Please have a look also at WP:NPOV, as your edit wasn't quite neutral either.– NJD-DE (talk) 11:46, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

About the Revertion of Editing Proof of Space Page

Dear Njd-de: I suggest not to use (PoS) as abbreviation of Proof of Space. Ateniese et al. (2014) primarily used PoS as abbreviation of Proof of Space. However, PoS is also the abbreviation of Proof of Stake, and is more common in use. You can check this reference, it is also included in the Proof of Space Wiki https://www.researchgate.net/publication/328160285_Survey_of_Consensus_Protocols/link/5e536218a6fdcc2f8f5d780c/download — Preceding unsigned comment added by SBCSignum (talkcontribs) 13:40, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
