Social Security dispute in Texas[edit]

What you've added to the Social Security (United States) article seems reasonably well sourced, but I don't think this one comparatively minor incident deserves this much space in the general article about the system. (If what's at issue is indeed $2.2 billion, that's minor in the context of the biggest government program of them all.)

Does this matter have a common name, by which it's known to most of the people familiar with it? My thought is that we should move your material to a daughter article on "Janitorgate" (or whatever) and leave behind only a couple sentences in the main article. Thanks for your response. (Some people would respond on my talk page, as you did; others would have responded here. Either way is fine.)
I could move the material but that would obscure your credit as the author. Here's a possible title: Texas school district Social Security controversy. You can click on that link or create your own title. Type your title into the search box and hit "Go". You'll come to a page that has a "Create the page" link partway down. Click on that and you're creating an article with your title.
Either way, once you're there, open a separate tab or window for the Social Security (United States) article, select "Edit this page", and copy your entire section. Then go to the new article page and insert it there. There'll be some formatting cleanup to be done on the new article, but if you don't feel confident on that score, I'll be glad to look it over. Doing it this way will make it clear that the initial content is your creation, not mine.
Once that's done, we can think about how to summarize the point in the main article. JamesMLane t c 20:39, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

James, Thanks for the info. I just moved the article to Social Security Texas school district controversy - the name you suggested only rearranged to put "Social Security" first. I intend to put in a few more links, as there have been newspaper articles and public comments made by a least one Congressman. I'd very much appreciate your taking a look at the new article and the summation that now resides on the main page - Social Security (United States). In particular, I am not sure of my formatting and the whether I am supposed to have a table of contents or list of links, etc. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

You don't need to create a table of contents. It's generated automatically by the software once the number of section headings reaches a certain threshold (three, I think). For the rest, I'll have a look sometime over the weekend. JamesMLane t c 20:20, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 5[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Government policies and the subprime mortgage crisis, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Taylor (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
