Re: Four-star positions

Yes, thanks for letting me know about those being reduced by five, from 40 to 35. What positions will be re(-re)duced to 3-star, do you know? And what if the next Assistant Secretary for Health will be an admiral again? Do you know when Holmes, who has been confirmed for a 4th star last month, will take over ACC? Or what about "C" and "R" devices, which should have been implemented in 2016? What about Mattis and Kelly? Thanks for letting me know whatever you know about these topics!

Greetings, claudevsq (talk) 11:42, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the update on my talk page. What bothers me most for the moment are ribbons. We are missing certain important orders, others are wrong or incomplete. What about the new version of the SouthwestAsia Service Medal? Someone made a redirect from the old to new version - hence hundreds of people in wiki with an awards and decorations section now show the new ribbon. I reverted some manually, e. g. active duty personnel, but... That same person replaced gold award stars... though not necessarily to the better, IMO. I'm sure his intentions are the best, though. claudevsq (talk) 05:33, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Please take a look at "Cold Water Cowboys" article

Hi. I noticed that you edited Deadliest Catch article. I made an article about a similar Canadian show Cold Water Cowboys. Can you please a look at it? It is at AfC process now. Is anything missing from it? How would you improve it? -- Bbarmadillo (talk) 17:28, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

Update. It was moved to Cold Water Cowboys. -- Bbarmadillo (talk) 15:38, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

Townsend

Has Townsend actually been announced for TRADOC? I'm surprised because his background is purely operational, with no schools experience other than as a student, so he seemed more likely to be a FORSCOM or RSM candidate. Usually they try to find someone with some history within the TRADOC organization, which is why I thought maybe MacFarland was being groomed for the job when they appointed him TRADOC DCG and left Perkins in place. - Morinao (talk) 00:23, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

Military nominations

Hi, Neovu79!

I just now saw that Gen O'Shaughnessy has been confirmed for NORTHCOM/NORAD. I just wonder why nobody has been nominated so far to take over Pacific Air Forces. What do you think, could it be that this command will be reduced to a 3-star assignment? claudevsq (talk) 15:23, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

Thanks, Neovu79, for informing me about the Army Futures Command! As for the paragraph below, is there anything you can do? I mean, both Gainey and Battaglia have their ribbons listed, so why not Troxell? claudevsq (talk) 09:53, 28 April 2018 (UTC)
N.B.: I just now saw that he considers deleting the whole article about Troxell. Has this guy gone mad? Or have our guidelines, which seem, at least partly, to say he might be right? claudevsq (talk) 09:57, 28 April 2018 (UTC)
He now even deleted the ribbon rack of Raymond A. Thomas, a four-star general, on active duty as commander of USSOCOM. Is there really nothing one can do about that, Neovu79? claudevsq (talk) 13:31, 28 April 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer! I know that he may be right, he probably is, that's what I said too, but I hope we can find a way to find non-governmental sources... Why do photos not count as a reference? Oh, and as for Austin S. Miller's nomination, what do you think, what post could he be envisioned for? TRANSCOM? Well, probably not... Do you know if Michael S. Rogers did already receive any retirement awards? And I also wonder why Lt Gen William C. Mayville Jr.'s nomination was withdrawn, and Nakasone was finally chosen to take over USCYBERCOM instead of Mayville... Thanks, and many greetings, claudevsq (talk) 15:05, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

PLEASE HELP

Dear Sir,

please see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:John_W._Troxell#ribbon_rack

There's a user named "Chris Troutman" who simply deletes whole awards and decorations sections here on wikipedia. As you see, instead of discussing, he simply says that anyone who puts the ribbons back will be warned/blocked. He done so already a year ago but was then stopped... I do not know how, though...I have a changing IP. I never log in when on my mobile. So, is there ANYTHING anyone can do to stop that person? There are people putting in hours of work into such sections... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.154.216.91 (talk) 20:47, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

Charles D. Michel

Dear Neovu79,

when Michel retired last Thursday, he was offered a shadow box:

https://twitter.com/15113565/statuses/999688866595557377

If you have a look at the medal in the very low right corner, after the HUMANSERVMED, there is one more medal which I cannot identify. The ribbon seems completely dark blue with red and yellow stripes on each end of the ribbon. I know he received the DSM from the Colombian Navy (Surface), a ribbon I created some time ago and which looks different. Oh, and BTW, I got notified that the Colombian ribbon I created for Joe Dunford is being discussed for deletion. Already for the second time... I also lost my ability to sight edits, even my own edits are not sighted anymore... Don't know why, and I did not receive any notification. On german and french Wikipedia, I AM still able to sight edits, though...

Thanks for your patience with my inquiries, have a nice Sunday! claudevsq (talk) 13:45, 27 May 2018 (UTC)

Nominations

Hi, Neovu79!

Well, I think now the guess is over who will take over as CG of Army Futures Command... (if confirmed, of course) Did the Army change its policy to only announce 4-star nominations if it is for a joint position? Seems so... Or maybe, because Army Futures Command will be a combatant command? No, then it would not be called "Army". Wonder what post Lyons will have... What about USTRANSCOM? Would he be qualified as CG? Now, with McDew (and others like Pawlikowski) on the brink of retirement... Just some thoughts, though...

Have a nice day, and keep up the great work! claudevsq (talk) 13:37, 1 June 2018 (UTC)

N.B.: Did Michael S. Rogers not receive any retirement awards? I mean, the NIDSM and DSSM, maybe? Even if he did not perform great as Director of NSA, as I have read... ??? claudevsq (talk) 13:39, 1 June 2018 (UTC)

Source interpretation

Hey, I realize that this isn’t your usual editing topic, but would you be willing to take a look at the recent addition to Flag of NATO (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Flag_of_NATO&diff=851993387&oldid=851842260)? I happen to think that this user is interpreting the source wrong, but I wanted to get another experienced user to take a look. My interpretation is that the document deals with the logo, not the flag. Thanks! Garuda28 (talk) 23:26, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

Admiral USCG (Ret.) Charles D. Michel

Hi there!

Do you remember the unidentified award in Michel's shadowbox? Well, have a look at the following photo:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/78/U.S._Navy_Capt._Gary_P._Weeden%2C_second_from_right%2C_chaplain_of_the_Coast_Guard%2C_and_Coast_Guard_Adm._Robert_J._Papp_Jr.%2C_right%2C_commandant_of_the_Coast_Guard%2C_clap_after_a_speech_by_Rear_Adm._Joseph_Castillo_130405-G-VG516-344.jpg

This is the same medal displayed as retirement award (plus USCGDSM), on the bottom right, it has got like a gold clasp on the top of the ribbon. You see? What could that medal be? Plus, I saw several times now that the Antarctica Service Medal was wearen with a service star, but never a disc. Maybe a Coast Guard thing?

Have a nice weekend,

MG James Richardson promotion ceremony

Thanks for the updates to US Army Futures Command; I was unable to find any citations for the MG James Richardson promotion ceremony, so I held off on the update to his rank. I would have expected a picture of LTG Laura J. Richardson putting the 3rd star on her husband. Do you have a citation for the ceremony? --Ancheta Wis   (talk | contribs) 23:01, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Comment

Hi, I wanted to ask you about the issue I raised at your move request, and I'm asking you here so as not to derail that with discussion of a concomitant issue. In my comment, I noted that;

Furthermore, after doing a quick check, it appears only a few articles use the bracketed disambiguator, such as National Guard (France), while other articles use the style currently adopted here, such as National Guard of Russia, while yet other articles use the national demonym first, such as Venezuelan National Guard. Perhaps before moving this article, there should be a more centralized discussion at WT:MILHIST about which format to use for these article titles

. (Also see National Guard).

I'm not sure if there is a consistency issue among all the individual US State National Guard page titles (there are potentially 150+ pages, and I haven't gone through them all) .

As for National Guards of various countries, should there be some consistency among the pages titles? Let me know what you think.

Added note: I don't recall having any lengthy or heated debates with you, or having multiple disagreements with you. I am aware of and respsect the work you put into many military articles I watch, so afaic... I'm ok if you're ok. Cheers - wolf 11:08, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

National Guard

Hey, just wanted to let you know I got around to commenting - I completely agree with your rational. Just in case it gets lost in there I wanted to mention that I think we also need to consider "United States National Guard" (found a number of sources that use that). PLEASE HELP!!!

Dear Neovu79,

I have a big problem concerning Robert B. Abrams: Although I made the edits under my IP-address, that should not be relevant. I put in, for example, Robert B. Abrams taking office as commander, USFK, at the bottom, still he reverts everything back to as if Abrams was still the commander of FORSCOM. I even referenced my edits with one edit pointing to his biopic at USFK, even a reference of a twitter photo, where you can see he is now wearing the UN badge and (again) the CSIB of the 1st Cavalry Division, but even with refs (someone else also put in a ref), the article is well referenced even if it could be better, all my edits are reverted by The Wolfchild. I simply don't know what to do anymore. Is there some place I can complain? Or can you restore my edits or anything? Thanks so much, claudevsq (talk) 18:47, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

Thanks so much! Just one question: you changed the date from November 8 to November 7. Of course, US date was November 7, but the local time when the ceremony happened, was November 8, 10 or 11am, so, lasting about an hour, it happened just before lunch. In general, is the date correct, or would we rather use the local date? claudevsq (talk) 08:50, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

can you please have a look at the following talk page and eventually give your opinion? This person reverts edits, and it really makes no sense at all:

Oh, and by the way, do you know why the nomination for the next Commander, USSTRATCOM has not been published yet? AFAIK, it might be someone from the Army... Because, as far as I know, John Hyten will become the next VJCS on July 31, 2019, that's next Wednesday, succeeding Paul Selva who will retire on that same date, so... who do you think will take over USSTRATCOM? Any ideas?

New Army Uniform?

Dear Neovu79,

should you have the time to have a look at the brand new official photos of Stephen J. Townsend and Paul E. Funk II, what uniform is this, do you happen to know? It kind of looks like the old Class-A uniform, just with beige jackets instead of green ones... ? Thank you very much, claudevsq (talk) 15:39, 11 August 2019 (UTC)

Capitalization in the Joint Chiefs article

I see where you edited the capitalization of the Commandant of the Coast Guard in the Joint Chiefs article and I wonder why the Chief of Naval Operations wasn't included in your capitalization edit. Personally, I don't agree with the job title capitalization MOS protocol because someone is always coming behind an editor that goes by the book and changes their edit. Less reverting if the job title is in caps. Cuprum17 (talk) 19:39, 6 December 2019 (UTC)

To be honest, @Cuprum17:, I've mostly given up trying to fix capitalization MOS:TITLES, because no one can come to a consensus agreement on how to apply it. Neovu79 (talk) 07:45, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
