Re: Four-star positions

Yes, thanks for letting me know about those being reduced by five, from 40 to 35. What positions will be re(-re)duced to 3-star, do you know? And what if the next Assistant Secretary for Health will be an admiral again? Do you know when Holmes, who has been confirmed for a 4th star last month, will take over ACC? Or what about "C" and "R" devices, which should have been implemented in 2016? What about Mattis and Kelly? Thanks for letting me know whatever you know about these topics!

Thanks for the update on my talk page. What bothers me most for the moment are ribbons. We are missing certain important orders, others are wrong or incomplete. What about the new version of the SouthwestAsia Service Medal? Someone made a redirect from the old to new version - hence hundreds of people in wiki with an awards and decorations section now show the new ribbon. I reverted some manually, e. g. active duty personnel, but... That same person replaced gold award stars... though not necessarily to the better, IMO. Townsend

Has Townsend actually been announced for TRADOC? I'm surprised because his background is purely operational, with no schools experience other than as a student, so he seemed more likely to be a FORSCOM or RSM candidate. Usually they try to find someone with some history within the TRADOC organization, which is why I thought maybe MacFarland was being groomed for the job when they appointed him TRADOC DCG and left Perkins in place. - Morinao (talk) 00:23, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

There's a user named "Chris Troutman" who simply deletes whole awards and decorations sections here on wikipedia. As you see, instead of discussing, he simply says that anyone who puts the ribbons back will be warned/blocked. He done so already a year ago but was then stopped... I do not know how, though...I have a changing IP. I never log in when on my mobile. So, is there ANYTHING anyone can do to stop that person? If you have a look at the medal in the very low right corner, after the HUMANSERVMED, there is one more medal which I cannot identify. The ribbon seems completely dark blue with red and yellow stripes on each end of the ribbon. I know he received the DSM from the Colombian Navy (Surface), a ribbon I created some time ago and which looks different. Oh, and BTW, I got notified that the Colombian ribbon I created for Joe Dunford is being discussed for deletion. Already for the second time... I also lost my ability to sight edits, even my own edits are not sighted anymore... Don't know why, and I did not receive any notification. On german and french Wikipedia, I AM still able to sight edits, though...

Well, I think now the guess is over who will take over as CG of Army Futures Command... (if confirmed, of course) Did the Army change its policy to only announce 4-star nominations if it is for a joint position? Seems so... Or maybe, because Army Futures Command will be a combatant command? No, then it would not be called "Army". Wonder what post Lyons will have... What about USTRANSCOM? Would he be qualified as CG? Now, with McDew (and others like Pawlikowski) on the brink of retirement... Just some thoughts, though...

I happen to think that this user is interpreting the source wrong, but I wanted to get another experienced user to take a look. Do you remember the unidentified award in Michel's shadowbox? Well, have a look at the following photo:

Plus, I saw several times now that the Antarctica Service Medal was wearen with a service star, but never a disc. Maybe a Coast Guard thing?

Hi, I wanted to ask you about the issue I raised at your move request, and I'm asking you here so as not to derail that with discussion of a concomitant issue. In my comment, I noted that;

Furthermore, after doing a quick check, it appears only a few articles use the bracketed disambiguator, such as National Guard (France), while other articles use the style currently adopted here, such as National Guard of Russia, while yet other articles use the national demonym first, such as Venezuelan National Guard. Perhaps before moving this article, there should be a more centralized discussion at WT:MILHIST about which format to use for these article titles

I'm not sure if there is a consistency issue among all the individual US State National Guard page titles (there are potentially 150+ pages, and I haven't gone through them all) .

As for National Guards of various countries, should there be some consistency among the pages titles? Let me know what you think.

Added note: I don't recall having any lengthy or heated debates with you, or having multiple disagreements with you. I am aware of and respsect the work you put into many military articles I watch, so afaic... I'm ok if you're ok. Cheers - wolf 11:08, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

I have a big problem concerning Robert B. Abrams: Although I made the edits under my IP-address, that should not be relevant. I put in, for example, Robert B. Abrams taking office as commander, USFK, at the bottom, still he reverts everything back to as if Abrams was still the commander of FORSCOM. I even referenced my edits with one edit pointing to his biopic at USFK, even a reference of a twitter photo, where you can see he is now wearing the UN badge and (again) the CSIB of the 1st Cavalry Division, but even with refs (someone else also put in a ref), the article is well referenced even if it could be better, all my edits are reverted by The Wolfchild. Of course, US date was November 7, but the local time when the ceremony happened, was November 8, 10 or 11am, so, lasting about an hour, it happened just before lunch. Capitalization in the Joint Chiefs article

I see where you edited the capitalization of the Commandant of the Coast Guard in the Joint Chiefs article and I wonder why the Chief of Naval Operations wasn't included in your capitalization edit. Personally, I don't agree with the job title capitalization MOS protocol because someone is always coming behind an editor that goes by the book and changes their edit.
