While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). I see you did not add the required attribution, as required under the terms of the CC-by-SA license, when you created the article Anne Brown. Sutton Hoo helmet[edit]

Hi there! A very old edit by you added that the Sutton Hoo helmet was displayed at the 1951 Festival of Britain. Do you remember what your source for this was? Proposed deletion of Wolfgang Lipp (theologian)[edit]

The article Wolfgang Lipp (theologian) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Obviously very incomplete, with a missing Life sections.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Template:AKL[edit]

Hi! I noticed you created {{AKL}} ten days ago or so. I don't think it has any documentation, so would it be possible for you to add some minimal documentation to the page so other editors can figure out what it does? I think it's related to {{BBKL}}, but I'm not sure. Thanks! Enterprisey (talk!) 03:17, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Sculptors by century and nationality requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and it is not presently under discussion at Categories for discussion, or at disambiguation categories.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —swpbT 18:46, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Andrzej Niemirowicz, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 20:01, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Leise[edit]

Tank you for the start on Leise. I don't understand "they were often unanimous or consisting of a single stanza". "Unanimous" looks like a translation of "einstimmig" but for singing, einstimmig means that all sing the same melody, no different parts, - is there a word in English, other "in homophony" which sounds awkward. And why "or"? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:16, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

12th century[edit]

Re: this - I doubt that talking about a Roman Catholic Church before the Reformation makes much sense. There was one catholic church in Western Europe at that time, - "theologian" captures that well enough. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:58, 11 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Ami Chessex[edit]

Hello Neddyseagoon,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ami Chessex for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

When I read this, for some incongruous reason, I had a mental image of Johnny Depp as I Am Crow. As you have done all the work on this I am reluctant to jump in but would it be a bit intrusive, or otherwise spoil the flow, if I added "Dublin porter" after "Crazy Crow"? It would probably be referenced as a footnote: {{refn|"Crazy Crow" was the nickname of one George Hendrick, a porter for Dublin Musicians|Group=n}}, with a book reference attached. March Madness 2017[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Maria Luise Thurmair[edit]

On 28 February 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Maria Luise Thurmair, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Maria Luise Thurmair published the "love talks" she exchanged with her husband when he was a soldier in World War II, and wrote the lyrics for many hymns in the Gotteslob? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Maria Luise Thurmair. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Maria Luise Thurmair), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Nomination of David Peart for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article David Peart is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Peart until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Rogermx (talk) 18:45, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jacques Rousseau (diplomat), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

The article Natalia Ryumina has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Hello, thanks for writing this article. I've reviewed it and the only concern is the lack of inline citations. As the article gets edited by others, this will be far harder to fix, so I'm hoping that while it's fresh in your mind / easily looked into, you can make them inline. Thanks again for your hard work.

Hello, you've certainly been busy creating articles, that's wonderful! There is an inline note for this but I can't see where your sources are. There was an external link (it didn't say this was your source, but perhaps it was?) to IMDB, which I removed as it is an unreliable source, as, like Wikipedia, it can be edited by anyone. Do you have any reliable sources for this film? If so, please add them. Thanks.

Wikipedia editor Boleyn just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

I'll leave this as the last of yours I review today, as I don't want to overwhelm you with messages and the issues are essentially the same, they all seem to have issues around sourcing. This has no references - it has external links, but it's not clear if these were used as sources for the article and if so, which source for which piece of information. The AfD looks a clear error, so hopefully that will be closed soon, but at the moment there is too little to make his reasons for notability clear and it is unsourced.

Referencing[edit]

Neddyseagoon, I'm wondering from your Talk page if you read your messages or if you choose not to? You don't seem to have responded to any of the many messages above, going back several years. Please let me know if you do. I certainly recognise something of my own approach to editing when reviewing your articles - create many stubs, to get things started which can then grow. I do this because there are so many missing articles on clearly notable people. However, you've been around too long to be persistently creating unreferenced articles, or articles with major referencing issues. A lack of inline citations is incredibly difficult to resolve as an article grows and it's left permanently tagged, when it could have been easily and quickly formatted right at the start. You're the most experienced article creator on English Wikipedia not to have autopatrol rights, so it's creating a lot of work at New Page Patrol, plus numerous mistakenly opened deletion discussions/proposals. It's a shame, because you seem, on the whole, to be producing articles on notable people that are quite well-written. Please consider slowing down a bit and making sure the articles are sourced well enough. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 15:56, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

\Hello, I guess you choose not to read/respond to messages at all, but I don't feel it's acceptable that after a decade's editing, and being a prolific creator of articles, that you refuse to add sources properly to any of your articles. If the external link is actually a source, please put it inline, it also needs more sourcing, but that can be developed over time. You also keep linking dates, but the guidelines were changed several years ago and these need to be deleted. I hope letting you know this will save you time in the future as you will avoid adding them and others won't need to use their time deleting them. I noticed that you started a number of biographies on French officers of the Napoleonic wars such as Jean-Baptiste Broussier, and that you included a template to "Biographie des célébrités militaires des armées de terre et de mer de 1789 à 1850". I have rewritten the template so that if the name on wikisource is given it will link to the correct article eg:

  • {{Cite Mullié|wstitle=BROUSSIER (JEAN-BAPTISTE, comte)}}
  • Mullié, Charles (1852). "BROUSSIER (JEAN-BAPTISTE, comte)" . Biographie des célébrités militaires des armées de terre et de mer de 1789 à 1850  (in French). Paris: Poignavant et Compagnie.

This may be of help if you decide to write another similar article. -- PBS (talk) 20:24, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia[edit]

Are you aware that you should not take chunks of articles somebody else has researched and created and use them to create articles such as the ones you created at Stretford Road Workhouse and Withington Workhouse? If you aren't aware you should be, see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. The lack of attribution gives the impression that you did the work.

You have stripped the Chorlton PLU article of important information and so I am going to restore it and redirect the articles to where they belong. When you can provide more information of your own you could recreate them in your own words. J3Mrs (talk) 19:34, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Neddyseagoon, I have blocked you based on a discussion at the administrators' noticeboard because you have been either ignoring or simply not receiving messages posted on this page, including a post regarding that noticeboard discussion which was posted a few lines above this section. A number of editors would like to discuss problems with your edits, but you have not acknowledged or responded, and this seems to have been going on for several years. Because you do not respond on this page or elsewhere when you are notified of a discussion, and you have not enabled email, there is no other way to reach you. You will not be able to edit elsewhere while you are blocked, but it is my hope that you will respond to the important messages here in the meantime. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 20:39, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have also manually archived old messages on this page into annual archive subpages (User talk:Neddyseagoon/2012 up to User talk:Neddyseagoon/2016), following a pattern you seemed to have been following up to 2012, because this page was much too long. This was one of the problems that other editors had tried to discuss with you. If you would like to archive some other way or set up automatic archiving with a bot, I would be more than happy to help. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 20:43, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Responding to talk page messages[edit]

Hi there. If you have read the last few talk page notices above, and the ANI discussion, you will have seen the concerns raised about your lack of responses to talk page messages. I am trying to work out what is going on here. I get the impression that you prefer to edit and work on articles, rather than engage in discussions, though you have responded to messages in the past. That is only my initial impression, though. This may come across as too personal a question, but are you able to say why you don't respond to messages left here? Would it help to discuss that here, rather than at ANI, or maybe even to discuss some aspects of this another way? If you are able to respond here, that would help make a start at sorting things out here. Carcharoth (talk) 17:05, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Result of ANI[edit]

Hello, the ANI discussion regarding your editing habits has concluded. The result of the discussion was that you are allowed to continue creating articles, but they must be sourced and not copied from other locations. Should you fail to keep within these bounds, and fail to respond to notifications or queries from other users, you will be indefinitely blocked. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you. Primefac (talk) 21:41, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Workhouses in Hertfordshire requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

The article Iain Mitchell has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article does not meet Wikipedia's guidelines for inclusion in the encyclopedia, specifically the general notability guideline and verifiability policy.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. This month The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There is over £3000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. Wikimedia UK is putting up £250 specifically for editors who produce the most quality new women bios for British women, with special consideration given to missing notable biographies from the Oxford Dictionary of Biography and Welsh Dictionary of Biography. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate independently this is also fine, but please add any articles created to the bottom of the main contest page even if not competing. Your participation in the contest and contributing articles on British women from your area or wherever would we much appreciated. Thanks.

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Jesus of Nazareth

Jesus (7–2 BC to 30–33 AD) is the central figure of Christianity, whom the teachings of most Christian denominations hold to be the Son of God and the awaited Messiah of the Old Testament. Virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that a historical Jesus existed, although there is little agreement on the reliability of the gospel narratives and how closely the biblical Jesus reflects the historical Jesus. Most scholars agree that Jesus was a Jewish preacher from Galilee, was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified in Jerusalem on the orders of the Roman prefect, Pontius Pilate. Christians generally believe that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, performed miracles, founded the Church, died by crucifixion as a sacrifice to achieve atonement, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven, from which he will return. The great majority of Christians worship Jesus as the incarnation of God the Son, the second of three Persons of a Divine Trinity. A few Christian groups reject Trinitarianism, wholly or partly, as non-scriptural. In Islam, Jesus is considered one of God's important prophets and the Messiah. (Full article...)

Project News
By Lionelt

Last month's auspicious relaunch of our newsletter precipitated something of an uproar in the Wikipedia community. What started as a localized edit war over censorship spilled over onto the Administrator's Noticeboard finally ending up at Wikipedia's supreme judicial body ArbCom. Their ruling resulted in the admonishment of administrator Future Perfect at Sunrise for his involvement in the dispute. The story was reported by Wikipedia's venerable flagship newspaper The Signpost.

The question of whether to delete all portals--including the 27 Christianity-related portals--was put to the Wikipedia community. Approximately 400 editors have participated in the protracted discussion. Going by !votes, Oppose deletion has a distinct majority. The original Christianity Portal was created on November 5, 2005 by Brisvegas and the following year he successfully nominated the portal for Featured Portal. The Transhumanist has revived WikiProject Portals with hopes of revitalizing Wikipedia's system of 1,515 portals.

The reconstructed frame of Nate Saint's plane used in Operation Auca

Operation Auca was an attempt by five Evangelical Christian missionaries from the United States to make contact with the Huaorani people of the rainforest of Ecuador. The Huaorani, also known as the Aucas, were an isolated tribe known for their violence, both against their own people and outsiders who entered their territory. With the intention of being the first Protestants to evangelize the Huaorani, the missionaries began making regular flights over Huaorani settlements in September 1955, dropping gifts. After several months of exchanging gifts, on January 2, 1956, the missionaries established a camp at "Palm Beach", a sandbar along the Curaray River, a few miles from Huaorani settlements. Their efforts culminated on January 8, 1956, when all five—Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming, and Roger Youderian—were attacked and speared by a group of Huaorani warriors. The news of their deaths was broadcast around the world, and Life magazine covered the event with a photo essay. The deaths of the men galvanized the missionary effort in the United States, sparking an outpouring of funding for evangelization efforts around the world. Their work is still frequently remembered in evangelical publications, and in 2006, was the subject of the film production End of the Spear. (more...)

The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara, painting by Moritz Daniel Oppenheim, 1862. This depiction departs significantly from the historical record of how Mortara was taken—no clergy were present, for example.
The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara

The Mortara case was a controversy precipitated by the Papal States' seizure of Edgardo Mortara, a six-year-old Jewish child, from his family in Bologna, Italy, in 1858. The city's inquisitor, Father Pier Feletti, heard from a servant that she had administered emergency baptism to the boy when he fell sick as an infant, and the Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Roman and Universal Inquisition held that this made the child irrevocably a Catholic. Because the Papal States had forbidden the raising of Christians by members of other faiths, it was ordered that he be taken from his family and brought up by the Church. After visits from the child's father, international protests mounted, but Pope Pius IX would not be moved. The boy grew up as a Catholic with the Pope as a substitute father, trained for the priesthood in Rome until 1870, and was ordained in France three years later. In 1870 the Kingdom of Italy captured Rome during the unification of Italy, ending the pontifical state; opposition across Italy, Europe and the United States over Mortara's treatment may have contributed to its downfall. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:HansGeering.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:HansGeering.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Top 7 report
By Lionelt

The big news was the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The Top 7 most popular articles in WikiProject Christianity were:

    1. Elizabeth I of England – legendary monarch who ushered in the Elizabethan Era over the dead body of her half-sister (#5)
    2. Henry VIII of England – on his deathbed the last words of the king who founded the English Reformation were "Monks! Monks! Monks!"
    3. Martin Luther King Jr. – can't wait to see the new US$5 bill featuring the "I Have a Dream" speech
    4. Seven deadly sins – surprisingly "original research" is not one of the Seven deadly sins
    5. Mary, Queen of Scots – arrested for Reigning While Catholic (RWC)
    6. Michael Curry (bishop) – our article says that he upstaged Meghan at her wedding. Did you see her wedding pictures? All I can say is {{dubious}}
    7. Robert F. Kennedy – when informed that missiles were being installed in Cuba he famously quipped, "Can they hit Oxford, Mississippi?"

The Last Judgment by painter Hans Memling.

List of dates predicted for apocalyptic events. Predictions of apocalyptic events that would result in the extinction of humanity, a collapse of civilization, or the destruction of the planet have been made since at least the beginning of the Christian Era. Most predictions are related to Abrahamic religions, often standing for or similar to the eschatological events described in their scriptures. Christian predictions typically refer to events like the Rapture, Great Tribulation, Last Judgment, and the Second Coming of Christ.

Polls conducted in 2012 across 20 countries found over 14% of people believe the world will end in their lifetime, with percentages raging from 6% of people in France to 22% in the US and Turkey. In the UK in 2015, the general public believed the likeliest cause would be nuclear war, while experts thought it would be artificial intelligence. Between one and three percent of people from both countries thought the apocalypse would be caused by zombies or alien invasion. (more...)

"German siege"[edit]

Oh, how I've waited for this day. To finally meet one of your kind, and ask some honest questions. When you wrote your Siege of Sevastopol (panorama), until this day when I corrected it, you said "German siege of Sevastopol", instead of "German-Romanian", as you should've. Look, you are a Westerner who for some reason failed mention my country in key historical moments it took great part in, in the 21st century when access to such information is literally seconds away. You are sadly a common occurrence, but I've never actually met one of your type before. I have a bunch of very sincere questions I'd like answered.

  • 1. Were you too lazy to write "German-Romanian" instead of just "German"?
  • 2. Were you genuinely ignorant on Romania's consistent contribution to this Axis victory?
  • 3. Do you and those like you have an actual secret agenda to erase my country from history? If so, why?
  • 4. To this very day, five years later, do you still believe that Romania's contribution, great enough to prompt Hitler to order a special Golden Crimea Shield for Romania's military dictator (granted Manstein got it too, but months later, it clearly originated for the Romanian leader) should continue being ignored?

Disclaimer: I do not mean to accuse you. These are questions I formulated after seeing numerous documentaries and even pieces of literature "forgetting" to mention Romania's key role in major battles it took part. When access to such info is again, very fast and easy, so really they got not excuse. This cannot stand, mate. This is theft of the worst caliber, stealing a country's past. This is lying by omission. Thus, I asked you these because I need to find the cause, in order to formulate a solution. Torpilorul (talk) 11:10, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jean-Laurent Kopp moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Jean-Laurent Kopp, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral, Cork, Ireland
Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral, Cork, Ireland

Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral is a Gothic Revival three-spire cathedral in the city of Cork, Ireland. It belongs to the Church of Ireland and was completed in 1879. The cathedral is located on the south side of the River Lee, on ground that has been a place of worship since the 7th century, and is dedicated to Finbarr of Cork, patron saint of the city. It was once in the Diocese of Cork; it is now one of the three cathedrals in the Church of Ireland Diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, in the ecclesiastical province of Dublin. Christian use of the site dates back to a 7th-century AD monastery, which according to legend was founded by Finbarr of Cork. The entrances contain the figures of over a dozen biblical figures, capped by a tympanum showing a Resurrection scene. (more...)

Eric and Leslie Ludy were 21 and 16 respectively when they first met, English professors suggest that older singles are unlikely to gather hope from their story.

When God Writes Your Love Story: The Ultimate Approach to Guy/Girl Relationships is a 1999 book by Eric and Leslie Ludy, an American married couple. After becoming a bestseller on the Christian book market, the book was republished in 2004 and then revised and expanded in 2009. It tells the story of the authors' first meeting, courtship, and marriage. The authors advise single people not to be physically or emotionally intimate with others, but to wait for the spouse that God has planned for them.

The book is divided into five sections and sixteen chapters. Each chapter is written from the perspective of one of the two authors; nine are by Eric, while Leslie wrote seven, as well as the introduction. The Ludys argue that one's love life should be both guided by and subordinate to one's relationship with God. Leslie writes that God offers new beginnings to formerly unchaste or sexually abused individuals. (more...)

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October![edit]

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Сретение Господне ("The Meeting of the Lord"), a depiction of Simeon recognising Jesus at the Temple, from a fifteenth-century Novgorodskye School Russian icon.

A Song for Simeon, is a 37-line poem written in 1928 by American-English poet T. S. Eliot (1888–1965). It is one of five poems that Eliot contributed to the Ariel poems series of 38 pamphlets by several authors published by Faber and Gwyer. "A Song for Simeon" was the sixteenth in the series and included an illustration by avant garde artist Edward McKnight Kauffer. The poem's narrative echoes the text of the Nunc dimittis, a liturgical prayer for Compline from the Gospel passage. Eliot introduces literary allusions to earlier writers Lancelot Andrewes, Dante Alighieri and St. John of the Cross. Critics have debated whether Eliot's depiction of Simeon is a negative portrayal of a Jewish figure and evidence of anti-Semitism on Eliot's part. (more...)

"Faith lived in the incognito is one which is located outside the criticism coming from society, from politics, from history, for the very reason that it has itself the vocation to be a source of criticism. It is faith (lived in the incognito) which triggers the issues for the others, which causes everything seemingly established to be placed in doubt, which drives a wedge into the world of false assurances."

Notice

The article Dictionnaire administratif et historique des rues de Paris et de ses monuments has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced article that only has link to editions of the subject. The sole source in the French version of this article has nothing to do with the subject. Online search only returned trivial mentions of the subject. Does not seem to pass WP:GNG.
