I'm not sure. The very first article edit was a violation, so to be very, very clear, if the user comes back and violates the topic ban again, I will block for one year, which is the maximum allowed for the second block. This isn't a case of a "slip" or accidental edit, not realizing it was under the topic ban. I understand those, I'm tolerant. This appears to be intentional disregard for the restrictions, hoping no one would notice. I've pinged Worm, and if he or BASC want to change the block in any way, they have my blessing and don't require advance permission or notification. Thanks for the ping Dennis. The committee was willing to give Nadirali a chance based on his emails - but put some strict restrictions on the chance. We suggested we might relax those in the future, but he should stick to them for the time being. It wasn't as what is assumed as none of the articles were controversial topics, nor was I intending to change the content besides adding very much needed Urdu spelling. You don't "inform the committee", you simply avoid those topics, including template, talk page, talking about them on your own talk page, anything that remotely looks like it would cover those topics, as if they were poisonous to your touch. Even if someone asks you about them, you reply "I can't discuss those topics due to a topic ban" and revert them if they keep asking. It isn't about the level of controversy in the article, it is about ANYTHING that is remotely covering India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. No articles on Bollywood. No articles on the Taliban. No articles on Ghandi. Zero. You can edit NASCAR, Tree, Thunderstorm (opera), Video games, or anything else that doesn't remotely touch on those three countries. Let me offer a sincere, friendly tip. No reply is required, you can ignore or use the advice as you see fit: I would recommend removing your name from any of the WikiProjects that are connected to your topic ban. It isn't required, but if you are getting notices from them, it will be too easy to get drawn in by accident, which can put you at risk of violating your topic ban. Removing yourself from these lists will not be considered violating the ban (although adding yourself would be). This is the safest way to stay out of trouble, and I truly would like to see you continue here editing, doing good things, having a good time. As a member of BASC who has just read your response on Dennis' talk page I feel I must inform you that proceeding as you have proposed there would be a grave error that would in fact violate your topic ban and lead to you being re-blocked. Please re-read the notice up at the top of this page that explains the terms, starting with the very first sentence:

"Nadirali is indefinitely topic-banned from articles related to India, Pakistan and Afghanistan broadly construed."

I have added emphasis on the relevant words so that you may more clearly understand the issue. This means you should not edit any articles related in any way to India, Pakistan, or Afghanistan. That would obviously include creating new articles related to these topics, even if you did try to end-run the restriction by leaving blank sections. We do not wish to restore your block and would much rather have you back as a contributor, but if you do as you have proposed or otherwise violate the ban it will be the duty of BASC to reblock you, and it would be highly unlikely that block would be lifted again for a period of at least several years. Astrology and quantum mechanics[edit]

Hi, I've had to undo this suggested addition to the article, which I am sure was well meant. Since the whole topic is covered by the policy on WP:FRINGE we have to be extremely careful with sources and claims, and I'm not convinced that what was added could pass the rather high threshold. If you feel there are sufficient reliable and independent sources - these would have to constitute proper, scholarly papers in trusted journals (Nature magazine, not astrology articles; independent research, not somebody's own PhD thesis; John Wiley & Sons, not privately published - then please take this to the talk page (or discuss it with me here).
