Speedy deletion of Cards as Weapons[edit]

A tag has been placed on Cards as Weapons, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Image copyright problem with File:Herrmann.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Herrmann.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Harry Kellar[edit]

Please stop adding text that was copied directly from articles like Isaiah Harris Hughes and Alexander Herrmann to the Harry Kellar article, it is not helpful. Also, please do not copy and paste material from websites like this one, it constitues as a copyright violation. However, summarizing or paraphrasing that info that directly relates to Kellar from those places would be. Also, take care when uploading images to add the appropriate licensing. A lot of the images you uploaded appear to come from random websites, which usually do not have the appropriate licensing allowing its use on Wikipedia and are considered non-free. One image that you uploaded from a copyrighted source (File:Kellar and Houdini.jpg) I was able to find at the Library of Congress and have since replaced it, so finding images that are free is not really a problem (there is also a photo of Houdini with one of the Davenport Brothers that can be used here, if you would like me to upload it). Thanks, --D.B.talkcontribs 19:24, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Warnings[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.3 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the "Help Desk". You can also leave a message on my talk page.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Harry Kellar. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a short time in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating the three-revert rule at Harry Kellar. Please be more careful to discuss controversial changes or seek dispute resolution rather than engaging in an edit war. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below.

Personal feedback[edit]

There is a nice introduction to free images at Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2008-08-11/Dispatches that may be useful. For the Great Hermann images, if they were published in the United States before 1923, then they should be free to use (as the copyright has expired). You need to say this explicitly though, usually with the {{PD-US}} tag and an explanation. You also need to provide the source where you got the image. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:07, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You need to provide a summary and a license for each image or they will be deleted. I have done this for one image: File:Herrmann the Great at Eden Theatre.JPG (and found a larger version and uploaded that too). It is better to link the webpage that links the image, rather than the direct link to the image itself.
To keep the images with warnings from being deleted, you have to add information to each image description page like I did for the one example. Since these are free images, they could also be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.
You were blocked for a day for edit warring (three revert rule). You are not banned from editing any articles, however ... Wikipedia works on consensus and editors strongly resist additions which make articles worse. This iincludes not only copying material from other sources (put it in your own words and cite it), but also additions which are uncourced and porrly written. The goal here is to make things better. If I were you I would pick one article and one section of it and discuss the changes you want to make on the article's talk page first. Hope this helps, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 18:06, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Projects[edit]

To become a member of a project, you simply add your name to the project list and keep working on the articles. Make sure you read the guidelines on the project page. I'm somewhat less active in the project since I started it, so it might be a good idea to check the history page of the project talk page or some of the people who recently signed up. That way you might be able to find people who are more active in the project to help you. (If that doesn't work, don't hesitate to ask me, I just can't guarantee a quick answer.) - Mgm|(talk) 10:33, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Radiant chains (talk) 07:51, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I made the necessary corrections to the David Bamberg page for the reasons pointed out in the edit summary -- blatant POV, lack of neutrality, poor English grammar and syntax, etc.

It seems you have been having difficulties on Wikipedia on several fronts. You should try to assume good faith and realize that good-faith corrections are necessary to keep articles encyclopaedic and accurate. This is not a blogsite or a fansite - it is an encyclopaedia. Please feel free to contact me if I can assist you and I will do my best.

Yours, Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 21:58, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On review I see you created the article. Thank you for your contribution. I understand that you may feel attached to the article exactly as you created it, but this should not prevent you from accepting good faith updates or corrections as they are needed. Yours, again. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Bartolomeo Bosco, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://geniimagazine.com/wiki/index.php/Bartolomeo_Bosco. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 18:37, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin[edit]

I recently restored a section to the Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin article that was lost through vandalism. This happened just before you did a large expansion of the article. Do you have access to the books that talk about this person, and would you be able to help with improving the section that got restored? If you can, please look here. Thanks. Copyright concern[edit]

Please see Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2013 May 25:

Alexander Herrmann from various books but in this one specific test case The Master Magicians: Their Lives and Most Famous Tricks by Walter Brown Gibson (1984), I am not sure it is a copyright violation and so am asking for a second opinion from a more experienced editor. The section that particularly worries me is "A typical Herrmann show": and phrases such as "goblet and toss them, and they would melt in mid-air" in text which the Wikipedia author states in a footnote is "Paraphrased from ..".

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. User page[edit]

I have moved your draft article to your sandbox per WP:USERPAGE.

Meantime, I hope you will take a moment to read our policy on writing from a neutral point of view. Since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a blog or fan site, we must avoid language that is improperly biased, either for or against the article subject. Thank you. January 2021[edit]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced or poorly sourced defamatory content into an article or any other Wikipedia page again, as you did at Jimmy Dore, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. EvergreenFir (talk) 07:43, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In what matter did I defame anyone? The post about Nancy Pelosi came straight from AP as well as NBC. The piece about Jimmy Dore's health came straight from his Youtube video. Please explain how these are not properly sourced? (talk) 07:47, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A 2 hour youtube video isn't a proper source. Further, a multi paragraph story like that wouldn't belong in the article in the first place. Also please sign your comments with ~~~~. EvergreenFir (talk) 07:57, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 8[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Murray Korman, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Channing Pollock. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
