Welcome![edit]

Hello, MtheV, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your edits to the page Periodization have not conformed to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may be removed if they have not yet been. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media. Always remember to provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles. As well, all new biographies of living people must contain at least one reliable source.

I have added a reference to what I assume was the offending statement. Apologies for the oversight. MtheV (talk) 01:56, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
{{help me}} Hi Chris, would you be in a position to review my alterations to the articles "galant" and "galante music"? the old galant article was exclusively about music, so I transferred what was worth keeping to the music article, as users had been requesting since 2005. What remains is minimal and could really be deleted. Also, the English spelling of the word is "galant" not "galante", and the title of the music article should be changed. See Grove music online, for example. Who can I ask about this if it is not in your field? Thanks. MtheV (talk) 02:05, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Luckily for you I'm watching your page. You made a mistake with the code for Template:Help me, since you took the usage from my comment using Template:Tl, when you were meant to put the words "help me" inside curly brackets. No problem; I'm glad to help.
I looked at your recent bold changes. I'll agree that there seemed to be too much information about music on the article about galant so I guess there's no problem making that change. This does make galant an unreferenced stub and that will have to be improved later, but that's not your issue. The subject itself is notable and doesn't merit deletion, even if it is an eyesore.
Clavecin redirected Galant music to Galante music several years ago. I have nominated his redirect page for deletion so that you could unilaterally move the current article back to its intended location. In the meantime, assemble your sourcing on the spelling if questions arise.
You may be interested in WikiProject Classical Music or one of its related WikiProjects. (I'm a history major.) You can find other editors working in this field that could better advise on music-specific issues. For technical questions, you can always avail yourself of the teahouse where veteran editors are standing by to field questions. You can, of course, always reach me on my talk page.
I cannot stress enough the importance of citing sources. Most of your contributions thus far have been totally unreferenced. While it appears the content that your adding is useful, without referencing it could be challenged and summarily deleted. The reputation of Wikipedia relies on its verifiability. Without even a veneer of scholarship Wikipedia becomes a public dumping ground of text. Please help us protect your hard work by providing inline citations. Someone shut your RfD because it wasn't technically the right place for it. It would have been faster for them to just do the move... so I did. I also changed the English spelling throughout the article and did some basic reference tagging. — Scott talk 15:40, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@MtheV: Please note - our attribution requirements mean you need to be very careful when moving text between articles. Please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia for details - I've put a tag on Talk:Galant music to indicate that text was moved. Welcome aboard, and happy editing. — Scott talk 16:03, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
