Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Mrnagle. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Steve Bren, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Drdisque (talk) 16:23, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Bren[edit]

Your edits and the edit summaries accompanying them made it fully appear that you were associated with Steve Bren in some way. Many of your edits do not show a Neutral Point of View, which you can read about at WP:NPOV. Sentences such as "While he showed talent and vision in the real estate trade, being in the driver’s seat of business wasn’t enough for Steve." are uncyclopedic - they don't belong in an encyclopedia. They are more for a biography, which wikipedia is not. Some things like what he did when he was 6 years old, simply aren't relevant. The photos you added were fine if they were properly licensed, but such a gallery belongs at the bottom of the article, not the top. Finally, you should read WP:STYLE to learn things like why not to abbreviate the names of states (people outside the US don't know what "CA" means). Also, your edits to "keep things on a single line" only pertains to how you view the site. The site renders differently for different screen sizes and resolutions, Let the software optimize the viewing, don't try to do it with your writing.

If you are being honest and are not working for Steve Bren then you can add some of your content back if it is encyclopedic, relevant, and in the proper format. However, very recently two IP's were hard at work whitewashing anything negative from the article and were subsequently banned. I have a hard time believing those IP's weren't you. -Drdisque (talk) 00:33, 28 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
