Speedy deletion of various villages[edit]

I have added villages in the Scottish Highlands not currently on Wiki, why remove these, i think you are removing things without any thought. Please explain why you removed these?--Gremlinuk (talk) 18:52, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Multiferroics[edit]

Why did you delete the link to another wikipedia page? I guess, that link is quite useful for the interested reader. Thanks for your attention. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.61.11.114 (talk) 21:02, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of "Elantech"[edit]

A page you created, Elantech, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how it is important or significant, and thus why it should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for companies in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. Josh3580 (talk) 02:55, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption offer[edit]

I'd love to adopt you if you'd like. Feel free to review me to see whether I am to your liking and reply on my talk page! --Cameron* 17:09, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption[edit]

Hi Miquonranger03! Now that I have formally adopted you, you may display {{Adoptee|Cameron}} on your userpage. This will generate a userbox stating you are my adoptee. Adoption is for new or inexperienced users to

  • Ask questions about editing
  • Learn to navigate processes and policies
  • Get help with article creation or image uploads

or any other activities on Wikipedia, then I should be able to help you. Adoption lasts as long as you and I wish it to continue, so you can stop any time if you feel you've learned enough, or you'd like to take a break.

Basically, you continue to edit Wikipedia as you are at the moment and contact me whenever you have a problem or question on my talk page. Ask as many questions you like, it's free! ;) Regards, --Cameron* 10:42, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback[edit]

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 04:54, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Im sorry for vandalizing Wiki[edit]

I have decided to spread the Wiki love. And I am truly sorry for what I have done. I would love to be your friend though. Is there a add friend button or something?

Thanks on tireless edits[edit]

I appreciate the thanks. I've been enjoying the reverts, but have not enjoyed running across the three jokers who felt it necessary to defend their bad edits by being abusive. I guess three out of hundreds is not bad, but it occurred to me that all three were responding to a vandalism message put on their page. And that I could avoid such by simply not giving them anything to respond to. One other concern -- less selfish, perhaps, lol -- is leaving messages to anonymous IP addresses, which might, weeks later, wind up being sent to someone completely different using that same IP. Baffling and annoying them?

I'm open to suggestion. Let me know your thoughts? Piano non troppo (talk) 05:13, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A very good question[edit]

Basically if it's an English topic, use English spelling. If it's an American topic use American English spelling. If a topic is neutral continue using the spelling already used on the page. For more information see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (spelling). I see you've been granted rollback already. Keep up the good work! ;) --Cameron* 08:34, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reversal of my attempts to improve the cimbalom page? ..... please read![edit]

You have no email so I post here.... I am not an encyclopedist, a Wikipedia whiz, or a computer nerd but I am genuinely knowledgeable about the cimbalom and deeply interested in solving problems with the current page. I have not been promulgating my own personal views. I know that formal policy requirements need to be met and I will find missing citations as quickly as I can. They do exist. For example; There should be absolutely no controversy (and there isn't anywhere else) over the name "cimbalom" or the need for the instrument to have a separate article. I strongly suggest that you look up "Cimbalom" in the Groves (both the full encyclopedia and the dictionary of musical instruments are the definitive references for music)! Also, if you study the evolution of the piano you can better see how the cimbalom followed a unique evolutionary pattern and will better see the context for the instruments related to it. The Wikipedia cimbalom page is not yet effectively differentiated from the page for Tsymbaly and it absolutely needs to be! A proficient and unambiguous page that does justice to this obscure but extremely important and fascinating instrument is sorely needed. If you are patient and read my talk, you will note that I intend to continue to improve the article. I'm not good at Wikipedia but I intend to improve. Be assured, I have no interest whatsoever in traipsing all over Wikipedia changing things inadvertently. Next time I edit "Cimbalom" it will be with a list of citations to support that which is already stated and that which I add. Please also note that the photo I took and also posted of the concert cimbalom is not present on the Tsymbaly page nor is it the same instrument as a Tsymbaly though the photo which heads the Tsymbaly page also heads the "Cimbalom" page. Do you see why this image of the concert cimbalom should also be at the top of the cimbalom article since it is a definitive cimbalom as distinguished from the Tsymbaly and the folk dulcimers. Otherwise it is like having a Silbermann square piano solely heading the main article about the piano forte. Please note the legacy of compositions (spelled "cimbalom" in the scores - I know as I've played the parts) this specific pictured instrument holds. Though citations are needed, they are available and coming. BTW, If you search the blue man group page you will see that cimbalom is used yet you also reversed my inclusion of this fact.

  • The background from which I write is that I am a 2 time attendee and founding member of the World Cimbalom Association as well as a cimbalom player conversant with it's environs. (I also hold a degree in music and perform professionally on double bass) ((naturally, the bass has a good page)) Frustrated here Jeffreyholsen (talk) 09:26, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Miquonranger03! Over the coming months I will be working with The U of AZ music library and the music department ethnomusicologist (if I can get her interested) to begin to get really good citations for this article! You make it just too complex and time consuming for me to contribute... All I do is adding info about all coachbuilders I know and all you do is questioning and deleting it. I am not violating any copyrights from www.coachbuild.com, because I have their permission. I have quite a lot to add about all coachbuilders (first hand, second and third hand) out of my own knowledge and from notable people and friends in the business and I've only just started. There's a lot of crap and false details in many articles about coachbuilders and car manufacturers, but it seems it is not always appreciated if I correct these articles. Much information cannot be found on the internet so it's almost impossible to refer to other online sources and besides, many other online sources are false as well...--Coachbuild (talk) 00:56, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

More questions...[edit]

First of all, well done! You've been very busy. I'ts good to see you've taken the time to read what a minor edit is. :) So many people use them when they shouldn't, especially newbies! In response to your first question: I think the user only called the sockpuppetry case "gay". This means I can't really template him for civility if he hasn't made a personal attack. I have however, invited him to read WP:REF. The youtube links obviously don't constitute proper references. Unless he can provide a proper reference, you (and other users) have every right to remove the statements, (as I see you and other trusted users already have). As to your second question: I'd definitely wait a good while before concerning yourself with rfa. In future I'd be happy to discuss this further with you. At the moment however, an rfa submitted by yourself would probably fail per WP:NOTNOW. Also, some people at rfa don't like large amounts of edits by huggle. If you are interested in becoming an admin sometime in the future, I'd recommend reading some successful and unsuccessful rfas, as well as the admins reading list. --Cameron* 12:02, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And what do you think of the four phase coaching method? If you're interested in RFA, I'd invite you to take part in WP:RFA. Voting at RFAs should give you a good idea of what is expected of an admin. Regards, --Cameron* 14:24, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS:You can use this tool to see your edit count (though yours is somewhat distorted, due to your use of automated tools). --Cameron* 14:27, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm no sysop (the coaching page you saw is still active!) and I contribute to (almost) every RFA. Very new accounts are discouraged from contributing there due to sockpuppetry issues (not a problem for your 2 yr old account!). I think everyone has a little bit of editcountitis at first, you'll get over it. ;) Best, --Cameron* 15:21, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, about that sockpuppetry case, he sent me an email with a couple incendiary comments, if that makes anything at all change in any way. I still have it, in case it comes in handy. Miquonranger03 (talk) 15:58, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note. I would be happy to provide a userfied copy for you - I did attempt to find some indenpendent sourcing, but the title is too generic. If you've got some, please add them here! Thanks, kind editor. (the link will turn blue in just a sec...Keeper ǀ 76 19:38, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Got your second note. If, after trying to source it and whatever, you feel that it just doesn't pass the N-test, give me a shout, I'll delete it out of your userspace. Cheers, Keeper ǀ 76 21:23, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re your report[edit]

Hi. Re your report at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/3RR#Energiie reported by Miquonranger03 (Result:Page deleted): There was nothing wrong with submitting that report, and possibly a different administrator might have handled it differently. I just have a suggestion: if someone repeatedly deletes a speedy-delete tag and continues to do so after being asked not to on their talk page, that rather than repeatedly reverting the tag back in, it may be calmer and easier to find an administrator and ask them to look at it as if it had a speedy-delete tag. You could look at the deletion log to find the name of an administrator who is currently deleting pages, or you could post to one of a number of noticeboards, such as WP:AN/I. This is just a suggestion, not a criticism. I think everything you did was fine. Coppertwig (talk) 15:33, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding CSD G4[edit]

Hello!!! Recently you tagged an article with G4. Just for your information, G4 is only for articles previously deleted via a deletion discussion. It doesn't apply to articles that were previously speedy deleted.

Hitro 18:53, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for tagging the article for speedy deletion. Just a small point for future reference - tagging with G4 Recreation of deleted material is only to be used on articles that have gone through a deletion discussion; it isn't valid for articles deleted by the CSD route. However, it was legible under G1 Patent Nonsense, so it has been deleted. Thanks! StephenBuxton (talk) 18:54, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grey3k (talk) 19:00, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the speedy tag, as it clearly is not one of the groups listed in A7. Miquonranger03, you might want to slow down just a tag on the speedy tagging so you don't get so many declined. Just a friendly note on Margaret Ford, Baroness Ford. I removed your A7 speedy deletion request because a life peerage certainly seems to be a claim of notability. Re: Annoying bug in the new version of Huggle[edit]

I'm not sure if you take these sorts of comments, or whomever does it, but I'll simply start with you. In the new version of Huggle, I'm finding that every dialog box, when I click "cancel", it comes back up, and then if I cancel again, it comes up once more, requiring another cancel to finally quell it. miquonranger03 (talk) 21:44, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All dialog boxes, or only those that appear in a specific situation? -- Gurch (talk) 21:53, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Most, if not all. I remember the "message user" tool, the box asking something along the lines of "you are trying to revert to another edit from the user who is being reverted", and, if I'm not mistaken, the "edit page" tool all having this problem at one time or another.
Odd... I can't seem to reproduce this. Did it start doing this halfway through a session, and if so did anything abnormal happen beforehand? Does restarting Huggle fix the problem? Sorry I'm not being much help :/ -- Gurch (talk) 22:03, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's not too much of a problem, and if it seems to be an isolated incident, don't worry about it. :D miquonranger03 (talk) 22:07, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Let me know if it starts happening again or you have any idea what might be causing it. Thanks -- Gurch (talk) 22:08, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

With respects, I found a whole lot more reviews on the web than just Variety and added them to the article. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 19:22, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Source list:
Christianfilms.com, "The Christiano Brothers Story"
by C.J. Darlington , Titletrakk.com, "Rich Christiano Interview"
Christiancinema.com, "Unidentified - DVD"
Yo, Hollywoodjesus.com review
Movies.nytimes.com
Fun.familyeducation.com
Variety.com review
Epinion.com review
christian-movie-reviews.net review
Alienvideo.net review

I've gone and cleaned up the article per Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Style guidelines, wikifying, sourcing, and adding several interviews and film reviews. Is there anything else you might be able to suggest? thanks, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 07:36, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Respect as a vandalism-patroller[edit]

Kudos to you for patrolling the dork who swanned through wikipedia on the night of 10-11 september and made a bunch of idiotic and homophobic vandalisms. I personally don't want to be an administrator because (working from the premise that power corrupts) I think that anybody who wants to be one shouldn't be allowed to be one, but you might be an exception. Cheers. Lexo (talk) 00:56, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, so you did it with Huggle? I see. As a non-Windows user I wouldn't have anything to do with that. But I have to admit, it appeared to work. Lexo (talk) 01:05, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure it does have a bad effect on an RfA. For one thing, it drives your edit count through the roof in a rather artificial way. It seems to me to be a fairly risky tool. I would imagine that an RfA would be easier to get if you had established that you were, above all, a conscientious and respected editor, rather than someone who was chiefly known for being able to revert a lot of vandalism very quickly. But then, I have witnessed some grade-A numpties becoming administrators (and subsequently being stripped of the title). Lexo (talk) 01:13, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Miquonranger03,

I must ask why you reverted my edits to XLinkBot's talk page? Thanks --Superflewis (talk) 02:11, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whacking with a wet trout or trouting is a common practice on Wikipedia when experienced editors slip up and make a silly mistake. It, along with sentencing to the village stocks, is used to resolve one-off instances of seemingly silly behavior amongst normally constructive community members, as opposed to long term patterns of disruptive edits, which earn warnings and blocks.

Example[edit]

Whack!
The above is a WikiTrout (Oncorhynchus macrowikipediensis), used to make subtle adjustments to the clue levels of experienced Wikipedians.
To whack a user with a wet trout, simply place {{trout}} on their talk page.

These two articles that I'm editing: Mark of the Year Goal of the Year (Australia), already had youtube videos as links to begin with. I simply added in more. I think it makes the article alot more informative. . .rather than reading about it, you have the ability to watch it (without having to search for them). Doesn't this state that youtube videos are acceptable? --Superflewis (talk) 02:21, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks --Superflewis (talk) 02:25, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Goblin's Gate[edit]

Why do you wish to delete the Goblin's Gate page? It is a real place and is visited by thousands of hikers each year. I intend to expand the page soon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jefftaylor@xwb.com (talkcontribs) 20:06, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mesquite, TX[edit]

I undid your revert which removed Edgemont Park from the list of neighborhoods in Mesquite, Texas. I feel that "appears to be unconstructive" is not adequate justification for the removal of factual information, as it seems to me that that phrase is extremely vague. I am curious as to why you felt that my edit was "unconstructive". Edgemont Park is one of the oldest subdivisions in Mesquite, as it was originally developed in 1958. For this reason, I felt that this was a quality addition to the Mesquite, Texas page. Thank you for your time.RFP15 (talk) 20:29, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Legal threat[edit]

I think you did very well, Miquonranger. Did you inform the blocking admin yourself? Always inform the admins about LTs. Anyway, if the problem persists: you know what to do. ;)

PS:Perhaps we ought to campaign for a "Dealing with legal threats" section on the WP:NLT page. Best, --Cameron* 09:29, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More trouble[edit]

Thanks for informing me. Things like that can be reported straight to an admin. As you can see, they are very good at that kind of thing! ;) --Cameron* 11:46, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If they've already been dealt with, you don't really need one, do you? Or am I missing something? --Cameron* 13:09, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh OK, I see now. ;) --Cameron* 18:36, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reasoning for Blackjack reversion[edit]

Hi. Would you please explain your reasoning for this edit, which you expressed as "Reverted 2 edits by Jeff G. and 38.117.71.150 to an older version by 38.117.71.150 (HG)"? Thanks!   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 05:38, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Opium[edit]

I'm sorry if you got piqued by the template. I doubt it "tarnishes" your reputation since you just simply removed it. I removed some vandalism and you restored it. I did what I always do, remove vandalism and warn the user. 2008Olympian chitchatseemywork 06:10, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Highlands Intermediate School[edit]

I see you reverted my contributions to Highlands Intermediate School. As my contributions were clearly improving the article, you might like to restore them. You are doing a lot of very quick edits, and perhaps did not give mine the consideration that they might deserve, or perhaps you hit the rollback button by mistake.-118.93.8.38 (talk) 19:01, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for restoring my edits at Highlands Intermediate School. Perhaps you could also reconsider your reverting my edit at Avondale College, Auckland, This is not as clear-cut a case, but the edit I removed (and you restored) was clearly of low quality.--118.93.8.38 (talk) 19:10, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I should have given you this a long time ago. Excellent work whackin' dem vandals! My hand is getting tired from hitting "block" again and again after you report them on AIV..... J.delanoygabsadds 02:03, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Hi Miquonranger03. I would like to thank you for your support in my RfA and the confidence expressed thereby. It is very much appreciated. :) The RfA was closed as successful with 73 supports, 3 opposes and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank WBOSITG for nominating me. How're things[edit]

Doing well I see, but your pace has slowed down (as had mine until recently, for which I apologise!). Any particular reason, or are you fed up of Wikipedia already? ;) --Cameron* 15:51, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not to worry, I've been feeling a bit "bogged down" myself! ;) Best, --Cameron* 12:15, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Estancias.[edit]

Miquonranger:

I regret the misunderstanding; but, no content was removed from the (already paltry) article. The image I added was a beautiful shot of one of the South America's most renown estancias, as well as the erstwhile home to one of the most significant figures in Argentine History.

If you ever get the chance, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit.

Kindly, 76.174.124.198 (talk) 07:06, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Miquonranger:

No worries; what's more: Wikipedia is lucky to have someone this dilligent and watchful.

You might be intrigued to know that the Mexico City page is rife with assertions that fly in the face of their references, mostly in the "economy" section. Something similar has been happening to the "ethnicity" sections in many Latin American country artcles (a contentious subject south of the border, as you may have heard). Another editor found a good, blanket reference for the ethnicity table in the Latin America article, itself, and it seems to be holding (pretty much). Never a dull moment, huh?

Thanks again for your trouble.

Unsectioned comment[edit]

Okay Miquon, so I am just demonstrating for Master of Puppets user that its not fun to have a listing you've worked on get deleted or messed with. I think that Master of Puppets was vandalizing the El Drubio article and I want it reinstated. Otherwise, why can't I go about deleting things if the stuff that I've worked on just gets deleted by some jerk who has no right! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.233.124.213 (talk) 07:17, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have demonstrated the essence of "not a positive action" by supporting a tyrannical adminstrator who deleted the page of a very notable and influential artist. To prevent any further conflict, please re-instate the El Drubio page. Thanks!

Actually writing articles[edit]

I wrote this just recently! Writing and article and getting it to GA/FA status is certainly a bonus if you're planning to become an admin sometime. You could start off with a DYK first though. Also, you may wish to archive your talk page, it seems to be getting quite big. I can't see an archive box on this page so I'll assume give you this link to be on the safe side. Give me a shout if you have and problem! ;) --Cameron* 11:29, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, don't be so lazy! ;) --Cameron* 18:35, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Too serious?[edit]

A bit of fun on a Wiki page is nothing but a bit of fun. It is not going to harm the world. My dear friend Stephanie is special to me and loves Oliver Sykes. I typed that message on his page to screencap it for her if she didn't get to see it in time. I was planning to remove it. I find Wikipedia sometimes hyprocritical because Trace Cyrus is dating model Hanna-Beth Merjos and I added it to his page and it was removed. If you need a source providing this info, just look at both of there myspaces. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.167.90.222 (talk) 08:25, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
