Hello Memorywrker. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Memorywrker. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Memorywrker|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 08:51, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 331dot, thank you for your review. To clarify, I do not have a financial stake in promoting the topic, and I am not being paid or compensated to create a Wikipedia article for the topic. I am a researcher and student with an interest in the history of the proposed topic (and similar topics), and I've reached out to create the Wiki page with their permission as it is still an operating center. Would I have to disclose on my user page my affiliation as a voluntary contributor/editor? Tempe Stewart WGSArts 18:25, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are signing your posts with "WGSArts", which suggests you work for them. If that's not the case, please stop doing that and sign with your username(which you can do with four tildes, ~~~~). Yes, if you have communicated with them about the draft article(the preferred term, not the broader "page"), you should declare a conflict of interest, please see WP:COI.
Note that it is not required to obtain permission to write about a subject here- a subject cannot grant or deny permission to do so any more than they could deny the New York Times permission to write about them. I guarantee you Donald Trump did not grant permission for their to be articles about him. 331dot (talk) 19:00, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay! Thanks. I'm reading the WP:COI article now. Should I add the COI to my user page, or to the talk page for the topic with the Connected contributor template? I'm looking to edit and contribute to other pages in the near future as well. Also, the WP:COI article mentioned creating a draft article through the Articles for Creation. Should I consider going through that process instead as I have communicated with the center about the article? Tempe Stewart Memorywrker 19:19, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are working on the draft of the Arts center correctly, and the required template is there to allow you to submit it when ready. There is no deadline for that as long as you are actively working on it. It is recommended for all inexperienced contributors to use the draft submission process, COI editors should do so even with experience. You may do this either through the Article Wizard or Articles for creation.
In terms of where to disclose, it's most important to do so on your user page(User:Memorywrker); it should be done on the talk pages as well(as "connected contributor") at some point. 331dot (talk) 21:45, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi 331dot, thank you for assisting me. I have added the COI disclosure to my User page and the talk page for the article. I don't have a lot of experience with source, so I wanted to check with you to confirm if I have inserted the COI for my User page and the article talk page correctly. Tempe Stewart Memorywrker 18:17, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, if the disclosures were added correctly, am I able to continue editing the article? Tempe Stewart Memorywrker 18:25, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you can continue to edit the draft and submit it for review when ready. 331dot (talk) 18:46, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
