81.187.27.19 warning

Hi. Please don't take offense, but I just wanted to let you know that I disagree with the vandalism warnings which you've posted to the talk page for anonymous IP editor 81.187.27.19 (specifically, for changing the spellings of various words from "American" English to "British" English on the Stargate Universe article). The WHOIS for that IP shows that the editor is in Great Britain, so they were probably changing -- in good faith -- what looks to them like misspellings, and they're new, so their probably not aware of the part of the WP:MOS that says don't bother fighting over regional spelling differences. I'd be happy to discuss this with you in more detail, but just wanted to let you know that, in my opinion, you may be biting a newcomer. Cheers! -- Bgpaulus (talk) 20:23, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Strange, the differences come up now, I swear when I looked at it before the user was blanking the section, I will rectify the warnings Mcmatter (talk) 23:39, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

iPhone Sim Unlock

Hi Mcmatter,

What was wrong with adding the name of the very prominent software used to unlock iPhone's from SIM Lock?

Thanks Tom —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomwood0 (talkcontribs) 13:55, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

The article is about SIM locks in general, and it's already under fire for being iPhone biased, I thought it would be best to maintain it with a more general statement of the method of breaking the SIM lock then to mention only one. A better idea may be to look into a stub article that we can link to, about the on-the-fly unlocking and include more on the different developers, without further expanding in SIM Lock. Mortal Kombat Rebirth

Dude, what is the matter with you? There is no article for Richard Dorton on Wikipedia. I linked to motioncaptureman.com for his mentions because that's his personal website. Also, what is wrong with Linking to Undisputed 3? People will naturally want to know more information about the people involved in the MK:Rebirth Project and who these guys are. Stroval choreographed Undisputed 3 which is an absolute masterpiece.

Do you even personally know any of these guys?

How dare you mark these entries as vandalisms. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Object404 (talkcontribs) 06:55, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

If there is no article, then create one, please don't redirect to an external site. The method used is deceiving and does not alert the user they are being taken away from Wikipedia. Please read WP:Links for more information on external links. Pleas feel free to contribute more to Wikipedia, but please remember to try and follow Wikipedia:Manual of Style -- Mcmatter (talk) 13:21, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Jordan League 1970

Hello Mcmatter. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Jordan League 1970, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: not an eligible subject. Use Talk:Jordan League or a related WikiProject talk page instead to discuss the fate of such pages. Thank you. SoWhy 18:45, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

As a general rule, it is frowned upon to pre-emptively protect articles, but I am watching it and will certainly protect the article if vandalism becomes excessive. Thanks! Resolute 17:12, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

EREV Redirect

Hi, I noticed you reverted a change by a user saying erev/Erev do not redirect to Chevrolet Volt. If you put either in the search it will go directly to the Volt's article. As for his Disamg edit I was pondering on what to do with that myself, it's an odd link, and not sure it's needed. Mcmatter (talk) 15:58, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I created a redirect from Erev to Eruv, so now searching for Erev returns Eruv and searching for EREV returns Chevrolet Volt. That should suffice. --Vossanova o< 18:34, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Phoenix National and Literary Society

Hello Mcmatter, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Phoenix National and Literary Society, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: could be notable: http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Phoenix+National+and+Literary+Society%22&hl=en&tbo=1&tbs=bks:1&ei=qjlITL2dPJGB4Qac6NzGDA&start=0&sa=N. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Theleftorium (talk) 12:30, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the notice. This topic may be notable however that article makes no claim of importance as per A7
"A7. No indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content). An article about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (e.g. band, club, company, etc., except schools), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant."
I respect your decision, but after going through the CSD again I don't see where this CSD was in error. The onus is on the author to provide the information, even as little as saying "so and so helped form or was a member" or "the group lead to the formation of..." would have been enough for importance to be laid out. As the article stands, it still has the template external link attached and does not provide importance of the subject. If I am in error please let me know where so I can improve my Wiki skills. - Mcmatter (talk|contrib) 13:37, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I see you added to it and it now definitely looks 100 fold better - Mcmatter (talk|contrib) 14:04, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
You are correct that the article probably met the A7 criterion (the above notice was an automatic notice, BTW). However, before nominating something for speedy deletion, you should really do a Google check first to see if it might be notable. As WP:CSD says, "Before nominating a page for speedy deletion, consider whether it could be improved, reduced to a stub, merged or redirected elsewhere, reverted to a better previous revision, or handled in some other way." :) Theleftorium (talk) 14:20, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your quick reply, and I will use a web search for some of the more questionable articles. - Mcmatter (talk|contrib) 14:25, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Your allegation of edit warring

I have been careful not to make 4 "changing" edits in any 24 hour period with intervening posts by other editors on any article. If I am nearly in violation so is any other editor I am disputing content with. No worries. Unfortunately, you'll find that happens a little too often on here sometimes, that a politician's campaign staff comes in and overwrites our actual encyclopedia article about the politician with an unencyclopedic promo piece cut and pasted from their own campaign literature. In fact, it happens so regularly that if the subject is a politician, checking the article history to see if there's an old version to revert to is the usually very first thing we should do. Just to let you know, I removed the proposed deletion tag from this article because I don't see a copyright violation; the article is substantially different from the company's web page. Looking at the article's history, I see that at one point there was a copyright violation but it was rewritten to fix that. The company's claim of being the largest seafood chain in Canada looks credible, and I see a significant amount of press coverage so I don't think the article needs to be deleted. If you disagree, please feel free to begin a discussion at articles for deletion, thanks! -- Atama 21:45, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Speedy deletion declined: Black Cards

Hi Mcmatter. I am writing to let you know that I have rejected your speedy deletion request regarding Black Cards. The band were formed by Pete Wentz, who is an independently notable musician—there seems to be a suggestion that other notable musicians may also be involved–and the article lists a number of reliable, independent sources concerning the band, including Rolling Stone and MTV. I feel that this is more than enough to constitute a claim of significance or importance. As things stand, I think that the band are borderline in terms of WP:MUSIC, so I would have no problem if you wish to list it at WP:AFD. Let me know if you have any questions. Scott Tucker wikipedia

Hi, Mcmatter. I am writing to you as you had indicated you could help me with writing proper wikipedia articles. I have one in my Sandbox. This is one that I have again been provided content, but it surely sounds biased and promotional, based on the experience I had with the United Autosports article. It is not content from the Level 5 Motorsports website, however, it now does seem biased. Would you take a look? I'd like to get your feedback. Are you able to see my sandbox?

Thank you.

Bgoodman0310 (talk) 18:48, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

There needs to be more reliable sources and inline citations added. There are too many pictures (perhaps they are just too big) in the article, we try to avoid making Wikipedia look like a picture book. I looked at Michael Schumacher's page as a reference, since he was the only driver I could think of, if you look at his list of references and layout this is a good article by consensus. I have also attempted to solicit the help of some others from the motorsports project to look over the article, as they may be able to give your article a more personal review, being more familiar with the subject at hand. - Mcmatter (talk|contrib) 19:32, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
  • it looks like this Scott Tucker article is in jeopardy of being deleted, too, but only after I asked you for help. I am going to put the hangon tag on it so it doesn't get deleted. I don't want to go through the same process I had with United Autosports. I think I lost a few years off my life due to the stress. ha. I very much appreciate your help. From Anya

Hello Mcmatter and thank you for reviewing the article.

A bit of background about me and my motivation for submitting the article to wikipedia: My name is Anya Belkina and I'm Assistant Professor of New Media at Emerson College. My current work-in-progress is a 40-minute animated documentary about Bashir Rameev and the pivotal events that shaped the history of Soviet computing. This past summer, I spent 4 weeks working in the archives of the Politechnical Museum in Moscow researching the film. The article is chiefly based on one of the historical documents from that archive--the Certificate of Scientific Activity of Bashir Iskandarovich Rameev. I also used Malinovsky's book http://lib.ru/MEMUARY/MALINOWSKIJ/7.htm and Trogemann's book http://www.amazon.com/History-Computer-Devices-Russia-Trogemann/dp/3528057572 for cross-reference. The text has been originally composed, except for segments in quotations. I would certainly appreciate further guidance on improving the article, since this is my first submission.

Again, many thanks,

Anya Belkina Anya belkina (talk) 00:24, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

The biggest issue I see with it is the citation method. Wikipedia has a system for referencing using <ref></ref> tags around the inline citations. To add wiki links, which are always a good idea we enclose key words in [[]] like [[enclose]] which will come up as enclose. I will add a welcome template to your talk page which has many great links and info for new editors.- Mcmatter (talk|contrib) 00:46, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you Mcmatter and more questions

Thanks very much for all the pointers, Mcmatter. I've put myself up for adoption--I need it! But before someone responds, could I ask you a stupid question? If I understand you correctly, I need to edit the text of the article by inserting [1] in the body of the article. Problem is, I can't figure out what to click on in order to make my article editable again. The only edit button I see is the edit button above Sources. Sorry to bother you with such basic stuff and thanks a million for your help! Anya belkina (talk) 02:10, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

No problem the main edit button should be at the top of the page on the same level as article, talk, read and history.70.72.3.75 (talk) 02:23, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello again Mcmatter, thanks for creating the page. Just one more question, please: Do you know what I'm doing wrong with {{Redirect|Rameev}}? I'd like for the users to be able to find the article when they type in Rameev into the search box. Right now, the article isn't listed in search results, I think. Many thanks!Anya belkina (talk) 15:58, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Dear Mcmatter...

...what's wrong with my article's categories? I read somewhere in the tutorials that adding categories inside the article would automatically add its header into the page of the appropriate category. But I don't think it's working. Clearly, I'm doing something wrong. Thanks so much for your help! Anya belkina (talk) 22:33, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

I have added the {{DEFAULTSORT:Rameev, Bahsir}} to the article this will now sort by his last name, he is listed in each of the categories you have him added in. As it was he was being sorted by his first name.- Mcmatter (talk|contrib) 00:24, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Hiya,

Re. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Boban Apostolov

That's pretty good, actually, but I'd ask you to please try and think from the perspective of a new user.

I know what you mean, but a new editor will not; I appreciate that you linked them to WP:CITE but still, remember how hard Wikipedia is for new users; consider putting some friendly note on their talk page about how to do a reference with an example.

That particular user came into the live help channel, and I was able to explain referencing and WP:VRS to him/her, so that was good; I encouraged them to get an account, so I was also added stuff on their talk page - hard if they do not have a username, I know.

Anyway - keep up the good work; this wasn't a complaint, just a thought, really. Best,  Chzz  ►  23:42, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Concerns about country clubs getting a pass by being "neighborhoods"/"towns"

Hello, I'm posting my concerns at the page of another admin who declined to Speedy a page for a country club (similar to your denial for Country Club at Mirasol), using basically the same argument you did that they're geographic areas not subject to A7. I provide a counter-argument, and maybe easiest to keep it in one place: User_talk:Bbb23#Are_country_clubs_and_suburban_developments_really_Notable_population_centers.3F. I'm just concerned that these are clearly businesses (the Mirasol one has a link to "homes for sale") that aren't showing any evidence of popular or official recognition as fixed communities rather than "a bunch of houses owned by Acme Corps", and the topic seems heavily inclined to advertising. MatthewVanitas (talk) 15:44, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

You delted my edit on the agenda project page that corrects their data on the funding cuts that they claim republicans made to the CDC. My sources which I site are the White house budget request for FY2013 and 2014 and the budget that was passed for those years. The information and sources that the Agenda Project site are no more than online news services that are of the liberal slant. My facts can be verified by any number of official government sources including the Congressional Budget Office.

Yes, I did delete your edits because they were not encylopedic and you did not properly cite your reference. If you do not know how to do proper citations please read the links on your talk page or leave the information on the talk page of the article so another editor more familiar with Wikipedia can enter it for you.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 02:27, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

I appreciate what you are trying to do, there are many issues with what you are trying to do. Wikipedia has many guidelines, one of them is a Conflict of Interest guideline, another we must watch when editing any article is that we have proper in-line citation for this we must have reliable sources we can not include original research. We also like to limit the number of first hand sources we use like your website. I will add a welcome template to your talk page so you can follow through some of the links.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 00:37, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. There 2 actual reasons for the removal of your edit to the Skellig Michael page. The first reason is the wording used to add it in was extremely promotional especially the "This allow you the opportunity to see and enjoy the splendor of these great rocks" line. The second reason is the fact that the link you provided has absolutely nothing about climbing the rock in it. - McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 18:11, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

I do see what you mean it may not belong at that point in the article, however it's straight up removal is not warranted without a discussion as it is adequately referenced. Changes to Toowoomba page

Hi I recently attended a seminar on how to set up a Wikipedia site for our Golf Club. I am a Director of the Toowoomba Golf Club, Middle Ridge. It was suggested during the day that I should make a minor alteration to the site, that might assist visitors to find the correct club. There is continual confusion regarding the location of each of the two golf clubs in Toowoomba because of the similarities in their names. This is the second time that my alterations have been rejected, which is not a major problem, but the trainers were sure that my alterations were OK. The second and most important is Wikipedia is supposed to be an encyclopedia and not an avenue for advertising. This is not a place where you set-up a "Wikipedia site" for your golf course each article must pass many several policy checks such as WP:Notability WP:RELIABLE along with many others. You should also consider reading through WP:COI. The addition of a map to your golf course is not encyclopedic and there are several places where you can place such things such as your city's/town's tourism website[2], your own website[3], or various other advertising avenues. I would suggest if you paid anything for your seminar, you get your money back as they have misled you on what Wikipedia is.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 00:58, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Mcmatter! As part of the centenary of Golf Queensland, the State Library of Queensland in conjunction with Wikimedia Australia has been conducting some Wikipedia edit training sessions as part of a program of trying to improve the coverage of golf content in Queensland articles (I was the trainer and no payment was involved - I do this work as a volunteer at Wikimedia Australia). So we have a number of very new contributors making their first real edits at the moment on golf-related topics. They are aware of their userspace as a place they can test as we used it during training, so any problems will be accidents not test edits. We covered conflict of interest (there are declarations on the relevant user pages) and notability as part of the training, but understanding and interpreting Wikipedia's many rules is hard for the beginner. I will be watching these articles and will correct any problems as I see them but of course I am not online 24x7 so appreciate the help of others. Please remember WP:GOODFAITH and WP:NOBITE. Thanks Kerry (talk) 01:09, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Kerry I did assume good faith, and only issued a level 1 (to refresh on standard accepted warning hierarchy Level 1 Assuming good faith, Level 2 Assuming no faith, Level 3 Assuming Bad faith, Level 4 Last and most severe warning) notice for edit tests on the users talk page please look at their revision and tell me you wouldn't take that as a edit test. On my page I offered some guidance and some helpful links, with their terminology on the seminar they took seemed very much like a some sort of scam if they were told they could set-up their very own "Wikipedia site". So please do not come on to my page and cite policy which I am already following, but thank you for your clarification on the situation.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 01:22, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Sorry if you interpreted it that way; it was not intended. New editors drop out because of reactions to their edits which they take very personally (no matter how mild on the Wikipedia scale). The Wikimedia Foundation want us to run these kind of outreach activities because of falling number of active editors but the Foundation fails to address this primary problem of policy overload making successful first edits very difficult for new editors. I don't know what the answer is, but I wish I did. Kerry (talk) 01:46, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Personal details of minors

When minors post personal details, a speedy deletion tag is a really bad way to handle it, because it draws attention to it. You should request an oversight instead. (I've already done so in yesterday's case.) Jackmcbarn (talk) 03:03, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Jackmcbarn thank you for the clarification I tried looking up anything on how to deal with it and could only find several essays which seemed to have never reached consensus for inclusion, next time I will go to oversight.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 03:26, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

How about a "Hate groups in the US" section for that article or a separate article on that subject? --Derntno (talk) 19:22, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

Hello Derntno I would think both those options hold merit and would not object to either of them. My main concern was that the article was already flagged for being too US centric, addition of the image only made it more so. If we had a similar demographic for the entire globe it would be nice to add in there, but I don't think we will ever see one, since not every country/person may agree on what constitutes a hate group.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 21:45, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

Alexander Flor deletion log

Where exactly is the WP archive or Deletion log for Alexander Flor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:AGFlor_2008_1.jpg)? How come others whose entries in Wikipedia were deleted have full archives while people like this guy do not have theirs shown anymore and anywhere? Racial bias?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kila234la (talkcontribs)

Hello Kila234la the link you provided was to an image which has been moved to the commons which is linked in the deletion notice. If you are talking about the article about Alexander Flor which was deleted through a Afd process which can be seen here. Please remember to assume good faith there was no racial bias from what I can see only that he does currently meet the inclusion threshold for Wikipedia as per WP:GNG or WP:PROF. Just so you know, I declined your speedy nomination. An international causeway would possibly be notable. However I would understand it if you felt it was too WP:FUTURE-y but then I'd suggest an AFD on it rather than a CSD on it. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 09:10, 22 November 2014 (UTC)

No worries, I think your redirects were the right call. I didn't notice that the same editor had created several similar articles. They've all got potential to be standalones, but redirecting is the best call for now. Swpbtalk 15:55, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Removal of Jay Rock content

Hi! I removed the content because that was not Jay Rock on the picture. If you can find a picture that shows Jay Rock, that would be great. Saimre10 (talk) 17:39, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Hello @Saimre10:, thank you for the clarification if you leave that in the edit summary then I would not have reverted your edits.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 18:51, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

The whole API chaining fiasco.

I would have emailed you about this, but you do not have an email activated. Anyway, my frustration stems from two main things

1. - The trainwreck of an ANI complaint that was bought against me, with accusations such as "Api Chaining has kept getting brought up for deletion by Skamercrazy123"(despite the fact I only prodded the damned thing once because of what I perceived to be notability issues) and "Have to disagree User shows a history of attack against user by editing content and now stated it in page. This has been happening previously on the api chaining page and then he is more than happy to vote for delete because he has issue with user" which is so ludicrous I don't know where to start.

2. - His accusations levelled at me throughout the AfD discussion and threats of retribution.

I struck through the wrongful comment I made, and apologised for it both at the AfD and on Orubels talk page. My deletion comment was based on what I perceived to be a lack of notability and not a wish to "attack" Orubel (an accusation that has started since I caught him using a sock/meat puppet to make edits to the API chaining page whilst he was blocked). Now that you have my side of the story, I am going to wash my hands of this whole sorry mess. If you need me, drop me a message on my talk page. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 03:42, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

@Skamecrazy123: I see where you are coming from and do understand the frustration. This is why I thought it may be better for me to try and step in and see if I can rectify a situation that was starting to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Thank you for your assistance with this and understanding.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 14:44, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
No worries. Despite his assumptions about me, I wish both Orubel and you the best of luck in sorting the articles out. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 16:07, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Rugby Manitoba, Alberta etc

Shouldn't you list these on the Rugby Union pages as well? This is the sport referred to.-MacRùsgail (talk) 15:36, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

@MacRusgail: I thought about it but I thought I would keep the AFD discussions separated by regions, I still need to list the other provincial rugby unions. I have been listing them as time allows. They made it simpler to track them down with the template.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 15:47, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
Sorry I just noticed what you meant, I did not realize there was a list page for rugby or I would have listed it there as well.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 15:55, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Please can you list them together - I see you've listed Sask. as well. Since I've only got fifty seconds left on this computer, I won't be able to deal with this for some time.-MacRùsgail (talk) 16:31, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Change the title of page named bhangi into valmiki caste'

only you will be responsible for your article...change your page title bhangi or remove valmiki from your bloody article — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashutoshsinghkaulvalmiki (talkcontribs) 16:26, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

@Ashutoshsinghkaulvalmiki: Hello, if you wish to propose to change the title of the page in question you can begin the process on the article's talk page. This can be done by placing the following code on the article talkpage {{subst:RMassist|Bhangi|Valmiki Caste|reason= Place reason here}}. This will allow for a consensus to move the article and make any required changes. - McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 17:13, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

hello ! the page bhangi has moved to valmiki caste'.can you delete the previous page bhangi because when we search valmiki caste on google...bhangi page appears first...is it possible to delete bhangi? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.190.46.198 (talk) 23:04, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

This is a problem with the search engine not Wikipedia. The redirect should stay as is so if someone does search Bhangi on Wikipedia it will redirect them to the correct term/page. If you wish to have the page deleted you can follow the process laid out at WP:XFD, I am not an administrator and cannot delete pages. - McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 03:06, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Pleasen Help ? Village Health Works is my organization's name

Hi,

I got a message telling me that my name might not fall into the Wikipedia name policy. I understand, it has to be a company/organization's name. The organization I work for is called Village Health Works, here is its website: www.villagehealthworks.org . Do I really have to change my name to "Village Health Works Organization" ? If so, could you help me and tell me how should I do it, please ?

Also, I would like to create a description page to my organization. I should create a USER PAGE, right ? Not a new section ?

I am brand new to Wikipedia, I am sorry, these seem like silly questions but it's the 2nd page I start today, I want to make it right this time.

Thanks a lot for your time, help and consideration!! --Village Health Works (talk) 14:50, 6 January 2015 (UTC)Village Health Works

Apollo's Fire Edit

Hello,

May I ask what you found to be "less than neutral" in my edits?

I know that we put some quotes in the history, but I did cite the sources of the quotes within the article. I wanted to update the history because it was based on Apollo's Fire's old biography, and they now have a new one that delves a bit more into their international status (which is why they quoted sources).

Would it be acceptable if I footnoted these quotes, or are the quotes themselves "too promotional" in nature?

Please let me know your thoughts. I would like to update the history of the company so that it is more current, but perhaps I did not understand the format I should be using. This is my first time making an edit to Wikipedia.

Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Apollosfire2015 (talkcontribs) 03:21, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello @Apollosfire2015: and welcome to Wikipedia, this is an encyclopedia not an avenue for posting of reviews or promotional quotes. The line about the standing ovations was completely promotional. Another side affect of your edits were you completely removed all wiki links from the article. At this point I would recommend looking through the welcome message I will be adding to your talk page, there are a lot of policies and guidelines to be aware of when editing an article.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 03:44, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

I just talked to Netflix last week about implementing this am in talks with O'Reilly. Either you want to be a rpository of information or not. Can you talk to this editor?
