Europe

I'm sorry about the first ref you removed, it was valid but in the wrong place. The second one I do not own the book and pg. 29 is not available to see on google books, so if you own it and it does not mention the UK's economic decline, then I am sorry. I got it from WWII and assumed that it would be correct, so sorry for wasting your time. Harland1 (t/c) 04:49, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Please don't use this page again: use the talk page of Europe. Mathsci (talk) 06:06, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Oded is correct.

Keep up the good work but, try to be more considerate. Thenub314 (talk) 18:14, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I do not know what you are referring to. Mathsci (talk) 18:18, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
In that case, never mind. Keep up the good work.Thenub314 (talk) 20:03, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

You need this: some WikiLove

Languages

BTW, I noticed you didn't have any Babel boxes on your userpage yet. How many languages do you have, may I ask? --Elonka 17:48, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Why do you ask? I learnt French, Latin and Ancient Greek at school, probably before you were born (my school was founded by Henry VIII, but I don't go back quite that far). I avoided German, because it was spoken at home and so I understood it, even if I wasn't supposed to. I speak English and French fluently (enough to order my aperitif as I type this). You may care to look at the following reference for the Commanderies des Hospitaliers de St Jean: "The Hospitallers and the Holy Land: Financing the Latin East, 1187-1274", by Judith Bronstein. It discusses Marseille in particular. Mathsci (talk) 18:08, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Hah, I sincerely doubt you're that old.  ;) Anyway, my reason for asking, is because I'm a natural networker.  :) I periodically run into different situations on Wikipedia, where if it requires skillsets that I don't have, at least I know who to ask. For example, I often go to one of my Harvard associates when I need assistance with Medieval Latin (we're currently working on putting some Papal bulls onto Wikisource, with both Latin and the English translation, see here.[1] Care to help with the French translation?) Anyway, since you're obviously fluent in French, I was wondering what other languages you had, for another situation I'm dealing with, an editor who is routinely misinterpreting sources that are in a combination of French and Japanese. French I have no trouble with, but Japanese is something I just never picked up. So I figured I'd ask!  :) --Elonka 18:19, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
You're probably right, but I have passed my half century.Mathsci (talk) 18:42, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

User:Jagz

I was browsing through the recent changes, when I saw a link, and checked something for vandalism, which lead me to discover your discussion with the user. I would just like to say, the way in which you coped with so patiently him was very admirable, and if I knew how to make a wiki-smile, I would, but I don't. He-he. {¦;-)} Hamletpride (talk) 18:17, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Turkic people?

I've responded to you on my page. Koalorka (talk) 04:48, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Ahoy, Mathsci, probably best if you cease reverts on that article for a bit. Talkpage discussions are okay, of course. --Elonka 04:58, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Steady on, old girl. Please go back and read what I posted on User:Koalorka's page, where I asked him to use the discussion page of European ethnic groups. [2] I have no history of edit warring. What about you? Mathsci (talk) 05:20, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Your comments to his page were overall pretty good, old chap.  ;) However, technically, you were both violating policy. He was definitely uncivil and broke 3RR. However, he did have WP:V on his side. Generally when someone removes something from an article, it is unwise to re-add it unless you have a source. The burden of proof is on those who wish to add information, not on those who wish to remove it. --Elonka 05:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Except you cannot be unaware that most changes to this list are of this kind. Anyway I have added the entry from the CIA factbook on the European ethnic groups talk page. As a transcontinental country with at least 80% in the part counted as Europe classified as Turkic people, I think the editor you recently blocked does not have the facts on his side. The fact that he created an anti-Turkey user box is neither here nor there. Mathsci (talk) 05:42, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Responded on the European ethnic groups talk page. I also have to thank you for pointing out another malicious koalorkaxx account on Youtube. It's not the first mischievous account I've had closed down. My only account on Youtube is exactly what it is on the rest of the internet: Koalorka without any numbers or periods or dashes. There's a few members of a certain anon imageboard that have been emulating me after a dispute, but that's redundant. Koalorka (talk) 04:58, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. I'll take your word for it. But here is a plain "koalorka", with neither numbers or periods or dashes, on a military gun site joining in a repugnant racist immigrant-bashing conversation (Poles, Russians, Pakistanis). [3] Is that also somebody else? Can you tell me how many fake plain "koalorka"'s there are on the web from Canada, interested in guns, pretending to be racists? Mathsci (talk) 05:48, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
That is my account. Islam is not restricted to a race of people, therefore how could that be possibly racist? And please don't sling around the "racist" accusation, it's a pathetic deflection that typically grinds any reasonable discussion to a halt among the less squeamish. I'm simply not an apologist and not afraid to tackle these sensitive subjects. BTW, how are my personal opinion relevant to any of this, they are just that, personal opinions. Koalorka (talk) 15:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I see very little difference between your forum and Stormfront. Please leave my talk page. --Mathsci (talk) 15:47, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Your perception of my personal views is completely irrelevant. Military Photos deals with armed forces media from around the world and Stormfront is a White nationalist site. I do not see the connection. Koalorka (talk) 15:54, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Mathsci, you don't really have the right to tell someone to "leave your talkpage". Especially when you are actively in discussions with them elsewhere. Talkpages belong to the community, and are meant to facilitate discussion between editors. If you don't like a comment on your talkpage, you are welcome to delete it. But you can't tell someone to just "stay away" unless there is some kind of inappropriate harassment going on, and that is clearly not the case here. --Elonka 15:51, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
