Please continue work on the article, as it needs to be de-orphaned and there is a broken ref tag in there. Gigs (talk) 16:56, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look at Wikipedia:Notability (musicians). Then consider how can you improve the article, and post on it's talk page an explanation on how the article meets the criteria listed there. Please don't post it in the form "but this singer is important" but rather "this biography meets criteria #2 as...". File permission problem with File:Yuri Goloubev David Forman.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Yuri Goloubev David Forman.jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. January (talk) 15:53, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for January 2[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Edition Records, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Robert Mitchell. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

MOS[edit]

Please give MOS:DISCOGRAPHY a look. It shows that Discography sections should be formatted like so:

  • Album name (Year)

and WP:MOSALBUM (the album style guide). On past album pages you put Reception under the track listing and also had two sections for Personnel. I already cleaned it up but it was on A Journey (album). Production can be listed under Personnel. I realize you did these articles awhile ago but figured maybe these manuals of style could come in handy. thanks --Jennica / talk 08:51, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Jennica (@Jennica:), yes it was a couple of years ago that I wrote these pages so I am a bit rusty. Thanks for your help. Best wishes

Edition Records[edit]

Information icon Hello, Marycjames. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Mary - would you care to disclose your connection with Edition Records? Do you work for this company and have they hired you to edit their WIKI page? Are you the person found on the website of the same name who advertises her work for WIKI writing and jazz artist services? You appear to work and create pages for many Edition artists. SchmetmallDE (talk) 18:10, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have no connection with Edition Records. I have been an admirer of their output for nearly 10 years and created the wiki page in order that their catalogue be recognised and acknowledged. I do not work for Edtion Records, I have never worked for them, I have never received any payment for updating their page. I sometimes create wiki pages where none have existed ( for example, Tori Freestone and Yuri Goloubev), neither of these artists is on Edition Records, I do this as a fan and not for any pecuniary interest but merely to catalogue their outstanding output in the genre of jazz. I am not employed by anyone in the jazz world, I work as a volunteer. I hope this satisfies your questions. Mary James

COI[edit]

Hi, I'm Girth Summit, an administrator here. I've been following discussions on a couple of talk pages concerning some of the edits you have been making regarding particular jazz musicians with whom, it has been suggested, you may have a connection. Without wishing to accuse you of editing improperly, I'd like to make sure that you are clear on the relevant policies and guidelines that apply in situations like that.

First, I'd like to ask that you read COI carefully (if you have not already done so). As you will see, it does not apply only to people who are directly paid for their editing - that would be the PAID policy. If, for example, you work with someone like John Law or Tori Freestone, or even if you are just friends with them, then the COI guidelines would apply to you with regards to our articles about them.

This is not to say that you are altogether forbidden to work on those articles, but there are certain steps you should take, and certain actions you should not perform - these are described in full detail at the COI page, but in a nutshell, you should disclose the subjects with which you have a conflict of interest (you can do that by using a template on your user page), and you are very strongly discouraged from editing the articles directly - rather, you should suggest changes using an edit request on the relevant article's talk page, and allow another editor to review and implement them.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 10:41, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
