File copyright problem with File:Kid'srun2.JPG[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Kid'srun2.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Image Screening Bot (talk) 21:32, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:BR RUN 2010 noweb4web.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:BR RUN 2010 noweb4web.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Non-free files in your user space[edit]

Hey there Market Development, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Market Development/Bellin run. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

  • See a log of files removed today here.

Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 05:01, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please stop restoring File:BR RUN 2010 noweb4web.jpg to User:Market Development/Bellin run. That file is a non-free file. Non-free files are not permitted to be displayed in userspace, per WP:NFCC #9. DASHBot has explained this to you, and now I have explained it to you. Willful violations of this policy can lead to a block of your editing privileges. If you have questions, ask. Restoring in violation of this policy is NOT the course to take. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 20:10, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I note that you have once again placed a non-free image (File:Bellin Run 2010 Logo.jpeg) onto User:Market Development/Bellin run. You've been informed of the policy at WP:NFCC #9 which prohibits this use. You've been warned about willful violations of this policy. Consider this a final warning. If you place another non-free image onto a userpage, I will request you be blocked from editing. If this is unclear and/or you have any questions, ask. Restoring the image yet again is not an option. --Hammersoft (talk) 13:32, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You indicated on my talk page that you work for the organization that puts on this run. It is very important that you carefully read and understand Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Few people directly tied to a subject in Wikipedia have control or really much of any input into the content of an article about that subject. For example, biographical articles of people who are still alive. This also applies to employees of companies and articles related to that company. It is highly unlikely that much of the content in the draft article you have created will sustain as an actual article on Wikipedia. Wikipedia depends upon secondary sources for much of its information. You are a primary source. You may wish to read Wikipedia:RS#Primary.2C_secondary.2C_and_tertiary_sources.

Creating an article from primary sources frequently results in the article appearing as advertising copy, and feels like self promotion. I can cite examples from your draft:

  • "The Bellin Run is a 10k or 6.2 mile road race that weaves through beautiful downtown Green Bay. "
  • "Participants are invited by Bellin Health and our partners. "
  • "These brave people"
  • "volunteers are the lifeblood of the Bellin Run"

This draft article is filled with such non-neutral, self promotional types of wordings. Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view. You should probably read Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.

I appreciate the large amount of work you have spent writing this draft. I cast no aspersions on the effort. The unfortunate case though is that much of this article will have to be gutted, and what remains will have to be re-worked and re-written to achieve being an article on Wikipedia. There IS good material here, but only a small portion of the entirety of the work. I'd be happy to work with you on this.

As for the logo, Wikipedia policies regarding the use of non-free logos such as File:Bellin Run 2010 Logo.jpeg are very strict. The logo must be ONLY used on actual articles in the Wikipedia mainspace. If a page begins with "User:", it's not in the mainspace. If it's not in the mainspace, the logo may NOT be displayed. Period. There's no wiggle room on that in any respect. You just can't do it. WP:NFCC #9, as noted before, is the specific policy that applies. When the article goes live, you can un-comment the logo. You can't do so while it's still in development.

Also, you removed an orphaned warning tag from the image [1]. This is viewed very poorly around here. WP:NFCC #7 insists that a non-free image must be used in at least on actual mainspace article. If it's not, it must be deleted seven days after it is tagged as being "orphaned" (not used in an article). I've re-applied the orphan tag.

Personally, I don't like the policy as it stands. I think there should be an exception made for draft articles in development that lasts for a longer period of time. I proposed such an exception, but it was turned down. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:05, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help with that, I work for the company that puts on the run, however, I am looking through the biased more creative writing that I tend to use and trying to advance it toward encyclopedic writing. I will cite more of the material and go through and try and clean it up again, and then after I do that I will message you again and see what you think of it then.
Thank you for your help, and I look forward to working with you

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Kid's for Running Bellin Run.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Kid's for Running Bellin Run.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 17:12, 13 July 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 17:12, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Formatting HTML elements[edit]

I note that in this diff, you added back in a series of HTML breaks in the form of <br />. This is entirely unnecessary. Whether the BRs are there or not, how the page breaks around images is going to change dramatically based on the width of the browser window with which you are viewing the article. If you are concerned about prettifying the layout, you might consider right justifying the image proximate to that section rather than left justifying it.

Also, ==='''Foo'''=== displays the same as ===Foo===. Observe:

Foo[edit]

Foo[edit]

Please don't add the bolding marks to sections headers, as it is completely unnecessary and redundant. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 18:05, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem with your pictures[edit]

Obviously, most of photographs uploaded by you weren't created by yourself -- 5 different cams used to create the photographs in just 2 subsequent days. What is the source, and do you have the permission from photographers to publish these photographs under {{PD-self}} license? Trycatch (talk) 19:07, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have marked all these pictures as possibly unfree. With no proof of ownership or permission to release these as public domain (and one image just randomly taken from the internet) then I think all of the pictures should be removed. SFB 21:53, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
