Sorry for the slow reply, I was out of town for the last two weeks and then came back only to end up going back to work. No more articles

Due to the stalking and harassment that I feel I have been subject to this year, I will no longer create articles for Wikipedia. I will continue to check the ones in my watch-list and fix any errors or reverse any undue vandalism.

Many of my articles, which have stood the test of time, were deleted or decimated by those who do not appreciate the contributions and sacrifices which Puerto Ricans and those of Puerto Rican descent have made to the United States as members of the military.

However, I am proud to say that the Government of Puerto Rico has recognized my work and dedication. This is what they had to say:

I have nominated Hispanic Americans in World War II for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Bumbubookworm (talk) 12:30, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

Information icon Hi Marine 69-71! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at City of Mesa Cemetery that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Hello: This is a minor point about the minor edit check-box. Also, please look at WP:ALLCAPS.S. Rich (talk) 22:50, 25 July 2021 (UTC) Ack! I should have looked closer at your profile. DTTR might apply. Thanks. 22:53, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi Tony. I removed several statements from this article related to military service. I could not reach the website in question (2 cites but 1 site) to verify the claims there. In addition, the site appeared to be some sort of rogue internet site as I received various "don't go there" warnings using verious browsers. You might want to check my edits (today) and see if they merit being reverted. Thanks. Mercy11 (talk) 04:04, 4 September 2021 (UTC)

  • My friend, in my humble opinion you did the right thing! Tony the Marine (talk) 03:52, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi Tony,

It's been a while! I see you've been busy continuing your great contributions to this project, as well as your extraordinary commitment to contributing on Puerto Rico related topics. I just hope you've also been well. So it occurred to me, especially on this day, that it felt right to acknowledge your continuing service to this project; your past and present service to the United States; and your commitment to Puerto Rico. So please accept these small tokens of appreciation.

The U.S. Barnstar of National Merit
For your honorable and exceptional military and civilian service to the United States of America. Awarded to Marine 69-71, a true patriot. X4n6 (talk) 22:40, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

But I also know you created two barnstars, but obviously couldn't award them to yourself. So it's about time they FINALLY came home! No one is more deserving.

This Boricua Tireless Contributor Barnstar is presented to Marine 69-71 for his continued work on Puerto Rican related articles. Presented by x4n6

Puerto Rico National Merit Medal "To be award to dedicated users whose contributions and dedication to articles regarding Puerto Rico are above and beyond gtp, what is normally expected and have helped provide a positive image of the island." Awarded to Marine 69-71.

You could have written both of these descriptions to describe yourself, Tony! It's long overdue that they were returned to you. Also there are a couple more barnstars that seem more than appropriate and very well-deserved.

The Barnstar of Integrity
"The Barnstar of Integrity may be awarded to those editors who have shown to be a person of integrity and honor. Or, more simply, a stand-up guy/gal." It is hereby awarded to a most deserving Wikipedian, Marine 69-71. X4n6 (talk) 22:40, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

The Friendship Barnstar
Stay safe and stay well, my friend. X4n6 (talk) 22:40, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Congratulations, Tony! X4n6 (talk) 22:40, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for the barnstars, I truly feel honored. T only wish there were more people like you in this project. I have tried to share whatever knowledge I have in Wikipedia, however there is always a group of people who do not appreciate the work that I have done. I am so happy that you are not one of them. Take care Tony the Marine (talk) 01:05, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

You reminded me of a favorite poem. If you're unfamiliar with "Desiderata", please give it a read. I hope you'll find it as helpful, at times, as I have. Stay well. X4n6 (talk) 07:37, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

Invitation to join the Fifteen Year Society

Dear Marine 69-71,

I'd like to extend a cordial invitation to you to join the Fifteen Year Society, an informal group for editors who've been participating in the Wikipedia project for fifteen years or more. As with the barnstars, this is long overdue.

Best regards, X4n6 (talk) 07:46, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

  • Thank you! I took your advice and joined the society! Tony the Marine (talk) 01:16, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
Great! Welcome! X4n6 (talk) 08:58, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

Rollback

As I'm sure you know, rollback is approved only for vandalism.

Please revert your edits or I will walk you over to ANI for misuse of your permissions. IznoPublic (talk) 21:24, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

And if you should want an explanation for why I made the edits I did to possibly help you believe that an editor and admin with nearly 14 years experience is not a vandal, please review MediaWiki talk:Common.css/to do#description. --IznoPublic (talk) 21:37, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:03, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi Tony, I notice that the link for the 2nd reference in the Ruben A. Cubero article is broken. Perhaps you can fix it? — ERcheck (talk) 20:19, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

A somewhat premature New Year's greeting

John Vanderlyn, Ariadne Asleep on the Island of Naxos (c.1812),
Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts
Best wishes for a safe, healthy and prosperous 2022.
Thank you for your contributions toward making Wikipedia a better and more accurate place.
BoringHistoryGuy (talk) 20:29, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

Moral lesson: John Vanderlyn was an American painter who studied in Paris, and his life-sized
Ariadne Asleep on the Island of Naxos was one of the first large nudes exhibited in the United States.
Peddling the poison as well as the cure, this overtly sensuous work was presented to the public as a
moral lesson on the consequences of lascivious behavior. Visible in the distance is the ship of
Princess Ariadne's secret lover, Theseus, for whom she has betrayed her people by helping him to
escape the Labyrinth and slay the Minotaur. Ariadne's bliss will come to an end when she awakens
from her post-coital reverie, only to discover that the faithless Theseus has sailed away without her.
Tony, I've gotten some bawdy responses and some jokey ones, but yours may be the most personal. I hope your 2022 is much better than your 2021. == BoringHistoryGuy (talk) 12:42, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
