Proposed deletion of Marc Fleischmann[edit]

The article Marc Fleischmann has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

I will be putting this article up for deletion since there it does not seem to meet the basic notability requirements for biographies. It includes some claim of notability, so it is not eligible for a speedy deletion, and, because it was PRODed yesterday, it cannot be PRODed again. This is not a negative comment on the subject of the biography, nor about the quality of the article; it is simply that Wikipedia has set a standard for notability which this article fails to meet. Comparison of iSCSI targets[edit]

Please don't think any of this is personal, because it isn't. It's simply that Wikipedia is not an outlet for promoting a business nor is it a social website where you might have a "personal page". The Comparison of iSCSI targets page is one of those pages that attract people trying to promote their company or their product. I watch it and remove any entry which does not have an article to establish notability. That's how I became aware of the article on your company and your biography. I would have been fine with them had they met Wikipedia's standard for notability, but they didn't. After the articles went through AFD and were deleted I removed the redlinked entry. I also visited the other pages that linked to RisingTide and removed all of the promotional content, not just yours.

If you want to add LIO back to that article, you'll need to start by creating an article on LIO. Before you ask, I haven't looked to see whether it meets the notability criteria. I have noticed that there is some kind of investigation going on about linux-iscsi.org, so you may want to avoid using that as a source. You might also look to see if other similar drivers have articles here. My expectation is that LIO is unlikely to be notable enough to merit an article, but you have a better understanding now of that requirement and if you think it is worth your time, have at it. So, on a quick second pass, the FreeNAS references look equally broken and/or without substance, and Nimbus doesn't even exist (the link refers to a disambigation page). AMI is really a BIOS, there are no references to StorTrends in the article. And you say you have beem watching that article, Celestra? Linux iSCSI Enterprise Target[edit]

That entry and several others were removed because they didn't have articles with which to establish notability. I'll accept your opinion that IET is more notable than some other iSCSI target software, but that doesn't really have anything to do with whether it is in that table. If you would like to write an article on IET, based on reliable sources which establish its notability, you can add it back to the list.

My employment is not germane. I am generally knowledgable about the storage industry and SCSI, but I have never had any interest in iSCSI. Personally, I have always considered it to be part of Cisco's strategy to delay FC adoption until they were better positioned to profit from it.

Those other companies[edit]

I started to explain something the first time, but decided it was a distraction. Your reaction to my explanation makes me see that my first impulse had been correct. If you go back in the history far enough, you will see that I tried to get the Comparison of iSCSI targets article deleted. In my opinion, it has little or no encyclopedic value and is a magnet for people who think Wikipedia is a directory in which to promote their business. It does not surprise me that some of those article are poorly sourced, but I don't think any of them were obviously lacking proof of notability. My main concern is to avoid growing the list with companies which have no article establishing notability. If you would like help nominating one of them for deletion, I'd be glad to help, assuming, of course, that there are no reliable sources providing significant coverage and not just that some of the sources are dated.

On the other hand, perhaps you need to discuss this situation with others here so that you will see that the lack of significant coverage, and not the person who pointed out the lack, is the reason your articles were deleted. Do you blame the police officer for giving you a speeding ticket? Do you spend a lot of time telling them that the speed limit should be higher or pointing out all the other drivers who were speeding? Perhaps the part of the analogy I didn't feel needed to be expressed actually does: you were speeding. As far as who might help you with your perceived imbalance, you could ask either of the admins who closed each discussions and performed the actual deletes. My offer was to help as in show you how, not as in do it for you, but I see from the AFD you filed on that article about the market that you worked it out for yourself. That's good, because your approach to taking someone up on an offer to help leaves a lot to be desired. Regarding your last comment yesterday, I honestly don't follow your logic. How does the current market size have anything to with how iSCSI got started? The cow didn't eat to help grow tulips, after all. Additionally, I think you may be mistaken about six billion: "For the full year 2009, spending on iSCSI storage gear was $1.9 billion, according to IDC, growing to $4.4 billion in 2013 -- a compounded annual rate of 23.4%."
