Moving and disambiguating pages

Please don't perform moves without thinking about them first. "Here Comes the Sun" does not need a disambiguation page. To 99%+ of readers it is a George Harrison/Beatles song. The 1% looking for a cover album by Nina Simone can be directed there by way of a dab link at the top of the Beatles article. 2-entry dab pages, where one of the entries is hugely more famous than the other, are simply not neccessary. --kingboyk 09:18, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Broadway-Blues-Ballads - Nina Simone

Hello Marcel, I noticed that you've been doing a lot of work on this page. Just thought I'd point you to an interesting website that describes the history of the song "Sea Lion Woman" and lets you listen to the original performed by the Shipp sisters is 1939. I've always been fascinated by this tune, which was not originally written by Nina. Go to http://odeo.com/audio/11268763/view. A particular haunting version of the song is entitled "She Began to Lie" from the The General's Daughter soundtrack. This version uses much of the original recording from the Shipp sisters. I'm not sure that the meaning of the lyrics as described in the article is correct since the song was originally a child's folk rhyme (actually a skipping rhyme). There have been lots of theories about the lyrics, (which have been changed over the years as different artists adapted it), but even the original ladies who were recorded singing it in 1939 had no idea what the lyrics meant or for that matter, how the title should be written or pronounced (hence the controversy over the "true" pronunciation and spelling). I stand corrected. I listened to Simone's lyrics and they are indeed as you described. I assumed incorrectly that she would have used the same, traditional lyrics. It's interesting how lyrics can be embellished and changed from an innocent folk rhyme to a story about a prostitute. BC (talk) 07:44, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

• Hi Brian Crawford, just wanted to say thank you for your comment on the (naming of the) song See Line Woman by Nina Simone. I was not aware of the history of the song other than the Simone version, in which it is pronounced+interpreted as told on the Broadway-Blues-Ballads page. If you have the time than please share your knowledge of the songs+titles origins on that page, or perhaps it's interesting enough to create a seperate song-page!

Request To Mr. Flaubert to use portrait of Nina

Dear Marcel, can we re-use your drawing of Nina Simone for an exhibition in Korea of Danish designer Peter Jensen's work? he used Nina as a muse for one collection, and for the credits we are illustrating each muse with drawings by admirers of each Muse.

There is no money–it's use would be non-commercial–but we would credit your drawing and request your permission in any applications.
